Quaint Little Hobbit Homes
A little dreadful. A little messy. A little bit sloppy. A little uncovered. A little sandy. A little crooked. A little bent. A little scattered. A little hidden. A little sacred. A little secret. A little story. A little. Just a little.
Good evening, beautiful people! You must be rolling your eyes what's up with all those "little" all about. Well, not much. Today, we're just going to roll up to the mountains in the heart of the city and hunt some hobbits and hobbit houses. Just a quaint little hobbit homes Let's go! It was a little over 2 years ago when my daughter and I just thought of traveling up to the little mountains close to our house, and find them tiny little friends called the hobbits. Oh, are they even real? Hmmm. We have to go find that out. So we're here. A little nature journey on our way. Everything green. Trees everywhere. Birds humming. Critters partying. Bliss. Tranquility. Serenity. Solitude.
Destination We are here now in San Fernando, La Union - somewhere in barangay Bangcusay. This is a 3 -hectare forested slopes region with 4 tiny hobbit lodging houses, with some displays of arts, and wide parking spots. It is basically a hobbit lodging house/ campsite. This is owned and designed by a surgeon/painter/sculptor. He built this campsite specifically for team buildings and other group activities. From the most elevated view deck, which is open as a setup camp area, one can skillet across the entire city. You can also view as far as the South China Sea toward the west and the mountains of the Cordilleras toward the east. We took a trike ride going up and only took us around 15 minutes to arrived here. The photos above serve as the entryway going to the hobbit houses a little bit uphill and also as a campsite for visitors and guests. I bet most of you already have seen the movie "The Lord of the Rings". Their houses pretty much look like what we're going to visit. These tiny little homes look very peaceful outside with a bit of fairytale touch and all the grass and blossoms almost covering the entire houses. The interiors look even prettier. So imagine living in a hobbit house in the mountains. That would be priceless. If you would ask, me, I'd love to have one. I am not a "people person" kinda, so this is perfect for me lol. No nosy neighbors. No loud noises. No off-key karaoke nights. Just a tiny home, nature, and me (with my family of course). The silence noise around is perfect. Solitude at its finest. The Hobbit Lodging Houses
So, here's the first hobbit house. Look how small it is. My daughter was only 6 years old then and almost half as tall as the house. This photo was taken on a different date by the way. I love the main door - it is round and made of wood and glass.
The second hobbit house has a different design. It looks more like an ordinary farmhouse made out of solid wood with windows made of jalousies.
The third hobbit house is more modern compared to the first 2.
The fourth hobbit house looks a lot like the 3rd one with the exception of the entryway has some wood standing out making it looks more fantasy-like.
All the hobbit lodging houses are measured about 3×3-meters and 4×4-meters with a height of 8 feet. These also have an individual aircon inside, toilet and bath, and kitchen for cooking and/or eating. Visitors would surely have that "feel-at-home" vibe rather than being just guests in a traditional accommodation lodging houses. When we visited 2 years ago, the entrance fee was Php 35 pesos ($.70/.70cents)/ per person. I don't remember though if I paid for my daughter. I think kids below 7 are free. Not sure. Have to check that one out again hehe. Anyway, isn't that a good deal? For picnics, a fee of Php 1,000 pesos ($20 USD) is charged for renting a cottage good for 10 pax. The rent for the hobbit houses cost Php2,500 ($50 USD) pesos per room for 2 pax and Php 3,000 pesos ($60 USD) for 3 pax. Php 300 pesos ($6 USD) is charged per pax for the campsite and rental for tents is Pph500 pesos ($10 USD). If you bring your own tents, that is free of charge. They also have a mini-bar at the entrance if you would like to have some quick snacks.
That's all for today, my friends. If you happen to visit La Union, don't forget to include this in your list. By the way, my daughter didn't find any hobbits. I guess they were asleep when they knew we were coming lol. Until our next virtual adventure. I am sleepy too. Xoxo.
