Running An Autopilot Life

When I was just a curious kid, the first vehicle I have known so far that drove in auto-pilot was an airplane.

Technology these days is getting more and more complex to understand. In one of my previous posts, Forget About Your Girlfriend But Not Your Wallet Password, I have mentioned quantum computing. This means that computers of that kind can hack your Bitcoin wallet.

Today’s era of technology, vehicle producing companies manufacture their cars with auto-pilot features. Meaning, you can drive a car even if you don’t know how to drive. The computer systems of these vehicles are highly sophisticated that they can run in congested cities without any issues with traffic.

What is an Autopilot?

According to cambridge.org dictionary, autopilot is a device attached to any vehicle running in land, sea or air moving in a particular direction without human involvement.

Auto means one’s own or self and mostly relates to cars. Pilot means a person who operates a flying vehicle or aircraft. Eventually cars these days adopted this feature of airplanes and thus a self-driving vehicle was invented.

If you are reading most of my posts, you will notice that they are more about life. I am not saying that I am living a perfect life. The stories I tell are those from my experiences that most people can relate. Some of you may get lessons from it, get motivated or be inspired.

So why is my topic Autopilot? What does it have to do with life?

Back in my school days, my life revolved around things like home, school, hang-out with friends, parties, outdoor events. That was like a life routine. It may not be boring because I have a purpose and that is to graduate.

Then when I got married the routine was changed to home-work and work-home and hanging out with friends during the day-off. It’s kind of boring sometimes but then again I need to do such a routine because I have a purpose.

When my kids came, the routine was changed. I need to prioritize them and so I have to insert time to spend with them in my routine.

This cycle continues everyday, weeks, months and years without foreseeing the ending. Unknowingly, I tend to live a life like autopilot. You know, doing the same thing over and over everyday with unconscious control of my routine.

It was like I was stuck in that routine with no ending and I don’t see any progress with my life. I have to stop, I have to end the loop. To search for meaning and have a purpose in living a life.

Shifting Gears

My previous job was more of hard labor. I was engaged in that type of job for so long that even if I wanted to get out, I just couldn't make an exit. The compensation was not that satisfying, no benefits at all, you have no leave credits and everything. I just couldn’t find any reason why I was stuck there for more than a decade.

Ten years in an industrial working place with one employer is no joke. I just can’t imagine how I managed to stay for that long. I mean honestly I don’t remember I showed 100% loyalty to my old boss. In fact I always contradict her. Maybe just maybe, I just can’t find the time to escape until I finally do it. But  Somehow I have learned a lot from working in that kind of job. Especially the skills that can’t be found in any school curriculum.

Until one day, an  opportunity breaks the cycle. Finally I was able to get out of that autopilot life. I decided to switch careers. But it was not that easy switching gears. I started from zero again. New beginning, a new life with a different working environment. This time it's more of an office job.

Perhaps the reason I was stuck in an autopilot life back then was that I lacked motivation. As far as I can remember, the hard work of employees in that company was rarely recognized. No promotion and recognition was less observed. Even team building was once in a blue moon. Most of my co-worker are still there. For some reason they don’t want to leave. I visited them last Monday after seven years and their life was still an auto-pilot. You know, still complaining about their job, still living life with no purpose, still don’t want to see their life as part of human history.

My current job has a daily routine too but I don’t think I am having an autopilot life again. I don’t see it that way because everyday is a challenge. This is what I want. Then I can have time to pursue my hobbies in blogging.

When I was having an autopilot life I always dream of seeing my name in a book as an author. Since my old job was printing books, I was imagining that my name was written in the book I was printing. Selling thousands of copies of my own published book.

That was my  dream, my ambition. I also dream of quitting my job someday and then managing my own blogging website, living a life without worrying about finances. In short I wanted to live a life financially independent.

Grabbing the opportunity

When I joined read.cash and started earning, I already felt a sense of financial freedom. I had a feeling that this could help me with my dreams somehow. This also helps me to get motivated because of the people who keep contributing good content. I also learned that having involvement in a community like this stays me out of having an autopilot life.

Yesterday I posted about documentation of my total earnings in read.cash and I was amazed by the things that BCH had helped me with my needs. Right now I am planning to save some BCH so that I can start building my own blog site. This is what I dreamed of even if I don’t have knowledge in web hosting or building websites. I hope I am not too late for this even though I think I’m kind of old enough to do this.

But education is a life long process as well as finding our true purpose in life. Today might not be the right time to do this but I’m sure everything will fall into the right places at the right time.

Anyway I need to end this as it is taking too long again. I wish I could tell more in this article but I guess I will share them in some other post in some time.

How about you, do you think you are living an auto pilot life? If you think so perhaps you may want to start shifting your gears now.

Thanks for reading. Ciao!

Awwww. Cannot wait for your own website Kuya Lars. 🤗

Hehe. O di ba andito pa ako. Ang dami ko pa ding babasahin.
