Rants And Rave

A rant posted on FB was shared by my colleague to our team group chat. It was kind of sad and funny at the same time that it became the stress reliever of the day.

The rant was posted to an FB page BPO Secret Files Community and was posted by the name of Justice Equilibrium which I for sure know that it was a dummy account.

He (I will use “he” as a standard way of addressing an unknown person) was ranting about something like the need for change in the system of the company I am currently connected with. And that It has a lot of flaws like trainees are not entitled to night differential pay, filing of holiday manually (which I don’t understand) and then about other trainee allowances.

First and foremost, the company I am connected with currently has been operating for nineteen years (almost two decades) and I have been working there for six years and counting. I admit that it is just a small one and the number of employees is not that huge compared to giant call center companies in PH. However the company has two sites outside the country. One is in Jamaica and the other one is in Honduras. But this year the number of employees in the PH site has doubled due to a campaign that needs a lot of manpower.

By merely seeing the screenshot shared to us by our colleague, it appears that the person ranting has not properly compensated for his time working as a trainee at the company. Yes, I can sense that the person was a trainee as he speaks clearly about trainee pay. For whatever reason I think that person is no longer connected with the company.

I understand your frustration

Here are my thoughts about the said post. Firstly, I understand whatever his frustrations or what he has been through  that he even mentioned about changing the system of the company.

If you would like to mention the rotten system in one particular company, you must have known about them or worked with them for a very long time. So if you are just a trainee how could you easily say things against the system of the company? They have been in the industry for a very long time and 19 years is not a joke.

Every company has its own sets of rules and policies implemented for every employee to follow. Even a very small institution has their rules just as the guidelines that we are obeying implemented by our parents.

Why then post rants like this in social media? Why not go to the HR to formally state your complaints? What’s the purpose of ranting? To get attention, to become famous when the post went viral? To accumulate sympathy? Then delete the post after realizing your blunder? It’s kind of pathetic actually (for want of a better term).

Sometimes we tend to raise our adrenaline so easily for some issues and the only thing we resort to first is to post on social media. You know what’s the problem in doing this? We wanted to be on top with whatever complaints we have. We want to be prioritizing with our concern and instead of talking the issues to the right person. We want action right away. We want to resolve it right away because it was told to a medium that can reach any part of the world. So was the issue resolved at an instant after posting it on social media? I don’t think so.

Tagging a prominent person or organization you wanted to be involved in for some action is nonsense. There is a right place for every complaint. If he could at least go to the company’s HR to ask for assistance, at least his complaints will be taken care of for immediate action instead of trash talking in social media.

I don’t think this article blog has issues with people who are used to ranting on social media. Ranting is good because we can express our feelings and not hide it but there should be limitations. Of course you have the right to post anything on your social media but you must remember that you do not own the news feed. It is also inappropriate to name calling when we post rant then hide our self so that no one will recognize us. Do you think it’s fair? If we are brave enough to attack someone then we should not be hiding. If we have a complaint about anything we should seek the right person to deal with such. Not with Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg can never help you with that.

There is no perfect company. There might be some wrong with the policies they are implementing but we can always talk about it to the right person. I have few issues with regards to deduction in my salary but I talked directly to the right person and have fixed the issue right way.

Everything has a process. Step by step to follow but sometimes we can’t wait and stand on the line so we find ways to be on the high priority that is why we rant on our socials. This is the sad reality in using social media these days. Posting without thinking.

Here is the post and it has been deleted

Thanks for reading. Ciao!

Let's just say that the company has mistakes but it doesn't mean employees have the right to degrade it through posting on social media. Just like you, I believe there are right authorities for every issue like the HR. But yeah, some people are really fond of posting kasi naman din may sumusuporta sa kanila gaya ng raffy Tulfo.

I also believe in not having the need to share it on socmed. It's better settled within the concerned people only, than causing more drama.

Yes and the worst past is that, may mga sumusuporta sa mga ganong post, nakiki simpatiya kahit hindi naman alam nang totoong nagyari.
