To all the people following our work, we want to inform you that today, August 21st, 2021, we received an email informing us that our YouTube channel was removed from that platform due to “violations of the Community Guidelines.” From what we were informed of, the ban was made under allegations of scams and deceptive content.
The Bitcoin Cash Argentina YouTube channel was exclusively used to share the progress of the adoption of Bitcoin Cash in the country, showing how merchants accept and use Bitcoin Cash, explaining people how to use this technology and making reality the idea of Satoshi of a borderless, peer-to-peer currency.
The latest video uploaded was the debate of a member of the Argentine community of Bitcoin Cash, Majamalu, and a Bitcoin-BTC maximalist about the viability of the technology in the long term. We have never received any notifications or warnings prior to the censorship of the channel indicanting that our content was infringin the Community Guidelines. Currently we ignore, as we have no further information, whether this decision was taken unilaterally by YouTube or instigated by users of the platform.
We are in the search for free-as-in-freedom alternatives to continue publishing the material we have created and posting about the progress on the remaining social media accounts we still own. YouTube’s appeal process is often slow and painful, so there is no guarantee that we will be able to recover the channel. Still, we will inform in case the decision made by YouTube is reversed.
What a disaster, youtube is always doing this and trying to contact is a hassle
