A Missing Grandma!
An a hour ago, I was on call with a friend when I noticed the distress in her voice. I immediately asked her what the problem was and she said that her family have been searching everywhere for her grandmother since morning.
Well, it's quite strange fro a woman of over eight years to leave the house without informing anybody. If it were a young lady in her 20s, it would be assumed that she went to hangout with her friends or boyfriend. But were could one possibly begin to search for an 83 years old woman who doesn't have a phone?
I was also told that this wouldn't be the first time she would be leaving the house on her own and later found roaming about barefooted by a neighbor or someone who knows the family .
Sometimes her family have to lock her up in a room for hours or even give her something to make her sleep so that she doesn't wander away. guess old age comes with alot of unpleasant habits.
From these happenings, it was clear that the old lady was suffering from Alzheimer disease (senile dementia) . A disease quite common among the aged folks which causes a patient to wander about and also forget where they were coming from.
An Alzheimer patient might not even remember the name of his/her children or grandchildren anymore. It is a degenerative disease which gets worse as one grows older. In some cases, such an individual might even forget what they had eaten or even wether they had ate. Although, they might be able to remember things that have happened years ago, but they would find it difficult to recall simple conversations of few minutes or an hour ago.
Alzheimer is caused when proteins and other organic structures continue to build up at the junctions between brain cells, then they accumulate over time to form slabs in the brain. This results in the loss of correspondence between adjacent brain cells which would ultimately lead to the death of these cells since the flow of oxygen and nutrients is also blocked.
Hence, a sufferer would have lower levels of brain chemicals that are responsible for information transmission through out the Brain. When this happens, the person becomes married to forgetfulness.
The major consequence of Alzheimer disease is memory loss or inability to remember recent events since the areas of the brain responsible for creativity, language, reasoning and wisdom have been destroyed.
Symptoms includes confusion, dementia, hallucinations, incoherence are also common.
Unfortunately, this ailment have no cure as it progresses with advancing age. Although symptoms could be controlled by medication. Also, therapeutic oxygen supply to the brain might bring some remarkable improvement.

Thanks for reading
This is common to aged people, I've seen a lot this reaction and I usually think it's normal and not a disease because of ageing People tends to behave like a child at some certain age especially with the forgetfulness.
