14 Days of Quarantine

Here in the Philippines, after a LSI (Locally Stranded Individual) got back home to their respective province, they are needed to be quarantined for 14 days or exactly 2 weeks in a quarantine area. Life seems to be somewhat comfortable in a quarantine area, for the reason that the LGU (Local Government Unit) are providing the food and accommodation of a LSI.

What a benefits that a single LSI can get from its Barangay with the help of the government but before all this to happen, there are a lot of things needed to be done before a person can travel back to their respective home. They have to process travel pass papers in order to be authorized to travel in a transportation ship or airplane.

There are a lot of requirements needed before a LSI can get a travel pass. Firstly, an individual needs to have a medical certificate from the place that they came from or origin. Especially if the person came from Metro Manila Philippines, you have to wait in line early in the morning around 3AM just to get a medical certificate to apply for a travel pass. It is because for the reason that the health center can only provide limited medical certificate.

Second, if the person already had the medical certificate they need to continue processing it to the Barangay hall for the provision of the Barangay certificate to travel. This is the easiest part of processing the travel pass, you only have to wait 30 minutes to 1 hour for the processing of the Barangay certificate to travel.

Lastly, for the very most consuming time, energy and money you have to submit those previously processed 2 requirements to the police station for the processing of the travel pass/authority. The police station or the JTF-CS (Joint Task Force Covid Shield) is the one that provides the travel pass/authority to a LSI. The processing of the travel pass/authority took a 24 hours to 72 hours to be finalized and be provided to a LSI. So basically the person needs to wait days and return to the police station the next days to receive the pass.

The energy and time that an individual needs to exert just to get a travel authority is somewhat exhausting because of the hassles and time consuming for the processing of the travel authority. Not to mention the fares and risk of your life to be infected while you are still traveling back and forth in processing those requirements.

After all the requirements are finished processing, its time now for a LSI to travel back home. Again, risk of being infected along the way while traveling. Every individual are commuting to go to the ship port or airport to wait for the departure time and of course while still waiting, there are a lot of people that a person can got mixed up with. You can't avoid bumping with someone and even sometimes there is no social distancing in a line. Will I say to you that is Philippines, but then again lets just understand some situation why this is happening.

When a LSI arrived in their respective destinations, before you can get off to a port they need to check again your travel papers and you need to get disinfected. Getting sprayed with water mixed with chlorine and the likes to disinfect a passenger who's getting off a ship or a plane. Finally after getting disinfected a LSI will be transported via a closed van or ambulance to the quarantine area and will be quarantined there for 14 days to monitor the status of a LSI's health.

This is the quarantine area (in an open basketball court) with individual room for a LSI.

P.S.

I'm one of those LSI and it's my (9) ninth day today of my quarantine. 5 more days to go for the 14 days quarantine time.

Ganyan pala kahirap maging LSI. Pero wala tayong magagawa, it is needed talaga and of course, we should follow the protocols instructed. Hoping maging okay na ang lahat, lalo na't papalapit na ang Pasko. Hope you can go home with your family safely, 5 more days to go and you're good. 😊
