Quarantine Restrictions Affects Mostly The Poor People

We only have 3 days left before the new quarantine restrictions are going to be implemented. Heightened check-ups at borders will be expected, only essential delivery goods and authorized persons with an essential business or jobs are the only ones who can pass through the checkpoints, then go inside the National Capital Region. The same as the first implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine, most of the establishments, offices, and businesses will be closed except for essential businesses like groceries, water stations, and other restaurants. However, they can't allow dining inside the restaurants, it is exclusive only for take-outs and deliveries.

For those who are confused by the guidelines, I'll drop this for your benefit.

This is the list of all the places affected by the quarantine and its classifications. As you can see, National Capital Region will be under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) starting from August 6 to 20, 2021. This is to contain the virus with its new dangerous variant Delta from causing a super-spreader event.

I got lucky to find this on Twitter. It is an infographic that contains clear instructions and details regarding the implementation of quarantine restrictions. Kindly read that or save the image to be fully guided all the time, and to avoid disputes with the officials at checkpoints.

I just want to share a real-life story that just happens this afternoon at the construction site where my Madam CEO went for inspection. She just told me this a while ago, and I'm so bothered by it.

She went there for inspection as her first agenda. As the domineering side of a concerned mother overpowered her professionalism, she drops a few words to advice them about these upcoming lockdowns.

At first, she asks the construction workers, "Does anyone of you know what is the upcoming new quarantine classification is?"

They just look at each other for quite some time and stay silent until one of them raised his hand, then bravely answered Madam,

" Ma'am, we are going to be under ECQ".

Madam gave another follow-up question, "Do you know what is ECQ?"

The worker opens his mouth to speak but stopped and no words have come out. It's a hint that he doesn't know. Madam explained briefly what it is, including the guidelines to be followed under the said classification. No one of them has backed up that worker to suggest an answer either. They don't know.

Madam added another question. " What will happen because we don't have work?"

The other worker quickly replied, "Ma'am we are No Work - No Pay workers. Though it's just 2 weeks, it will drastically affect us. If we can't have a salary, we don't have any money to sustain food for our families. We are just lucky if we will be included in the list of people who will receive the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) from the government. If not we will suffer from hunger."

Having a natural motherly heart, Madam took pity on them and assure them that the company will provide them assistance throughout the weeks of ECQ implementation. As Madam finished speaking, they instantly applaud in joy and gratitude for the generosity and give non-stop thanks to Madam with teary eyes.

Think About It...

I've been moved by this so much. Imagine what their lives could be if the company will not give them cash assistance. They probably strive every day in hunger together with their respective families. And it's not just them and their families that will suffer in the next three days, there are more like them. If you think that you're life is tough right now, then think again. If you are still eating complete meals every day, then you are much luckier.

I badly want to help them, honestly. But what can I do, my family and my other relatives need my help, too. Then I realized, there are still things we can do to help them and the whole society.

It is time to be more disciplined. We should follow the safety protocols and guidelines provided by our government. We should put on our masks and face shields when going out of the house, and if it's not a necessary business, then please refrain from going out too often. In this way, we can help the government and ourselves contain the virus and get a step closer to be a Covid-19 Free Country.

Until Next Time...

Thanks for reading until the end. Keep safe always, people. Don't lose faith in these critical times, we should strengthen our faith instead. Just have faith in God and don't worry anymore.

My family was lucky enough to be supported by my mother's and sister's company during the first ECQ. But in the second ECQ, we have experienced some difficulties as my sister got laid off then. So I understand of the hardships that people experienced.

I am hoping that people will be more compassionate with those who are truly suffering instead of being blinded with greed to pocket the money that was supposed to be given as aid.

I also hope that there would be a little conscience left to those corrupt officials. Those millions of pesos that they pocketed can help millions of people if they just use it for a better purpose.

That's the problem of some people, they're too complacent. Especially when they are already vaccinated, they don't about the protocols anymore.
