The lessons from recent flooding.
28 - 08 - 2022
Natural disasters are part of this universe and always leave massive destruction, deaths ، uncertainty and loses of wild, water and plain creatures. May it shape in floods , earthquakes , typhoon, storms or rains but all are deadly with huge amount.
No one can stop these disasters but can prevent from human loses by better strategy, earlier alarming system, better and constructive policy, awareness and we'll planned preparation.
Pakistan is under mass flooding now a days. It is history of subcontinent that from centuries the Moonsoon hits the area in August. Mostly it remains till 3-7 inch rains in the area which is quite bearable but this year break the record of last 40 years and rainfall measures in some area upto 65 inches or other words rain hits 5.5 feet high Rain fall.
It made worst situation especially in Indus River valley, south Punjab and lower Sindh which high flood kills more then 1000 people , 35 millions effected, 345 millions hector land covered swept the crop of cotton & sugarcane , demolition of houses , multistorey hotels and apartments also happens. Still it is heading towards Arabian sea and more casualties are expected.
What lessons we can learn?
We can learn lot of things from other countries which sets the example to fight against these pandemic. Pre planning in every sector is compulsory and concern authority must be at high alert with full equipment and force.
Lot of typhoon hit the shores of United States every year but very less human casualties happened. Why? Because of prior noticing and alarming system helps people to move from the area earlier then the hitting time. Time to time update of typhoon's speed and reach also monitor by authorities.
So at individual level we need to do the sanitation of our homes , streets and sidewalks. We must clean the drainage wholes , pipes and outreach before rainy season. We must dispose the house wastage properly and avoid to throw in streets, empty place nearby or in canals. We must reduce the usage of plastic shopping bags which becomes our culture that even we buy a led pencil and ask shopkeeper to put in shoppers.
At government levels our head of government should at least do better alarming system for floods. Our metrology department should be active and we'll equipped with latest technology. Which will give exact warning about weather forecast. Better coordination between the institutions related to relief and healing should work smoothly. If moonsoon comes in August, the departments should start excercises and inspection of water outreach from April. No one should allow to built any construction near the banks of these waterways.
We can't stop the disasters but yes we can save our people's precious lifes which unfortunately has very less importance to our leaders. Good planned awareness on every forum can help out too .
May Almighty God safe my country men from this flood and bless us bright & safe tomorrow.
I am requesting to you all that pray for my country and country men. Flooded water should go off calmly without more lose.

That is a debating topic, which you have covered so nicely. Indeed first of all we should take start from ourselves, like you said drainage, shoppers etc... Secondly, government should do the needful as you said and should have better alarming system.. One thing I want to add, which is my next topic as well, some people misuse the disasters... Like stealing from home, meeting donations, or don't distribute amongst the needy persons... They in not human
