When instincts are right
This is just an anecdote, a day in my life.
Yesterday, we felt the brunt end of the storm that affected our country. We have bursts of strong rains accompanied by gusts of wind and a cloud of fog every now and then.
We were just here in our unit doing whatever we are doing.
We have been deciding whether to order food online or just go out, rain or not. It was not until late in the afternoon did we finally decide to go out. My partner was the one who asked if we want to go out. Feeling under the weather, I said yes to hopefully lift the mood.
When we were out on the road waiting for a ride, there was another episode of strong rains. We have been waiting for some minutes but still no taxi available so we took a jeepney instead. Good thing the jeepney terminal is just a few steps away else we would have been soaking wet.
When we reached the city center, the rain let up thankfully.
From our jeepney stop to the restaurant we want to eat, it was just about 400 meters. Easy walk. Good thing too that the way going there is mostly shaded.
This is beside a terminal and it is one of the famous local restaurants - Good Taste. We initially sat at an empty table close to the entrance while waiting for tables by the window to be vacated. We didn't have to wait long.
I took the photo above while waiting for our order. We ordered bulalo (beef soup) and pansit (stir-fried noodles) and coffee. There were no cakes or pastries available that time.
The staff who took our order said that the bulalo will take about 50 minutes so we agreed.
The pansit which was for take out arrived first. We then waited for an hour for our order. When our order was not arriving, we called for another staff and asked to follow up on the bulalo.
She did and came back to tell us the bulalo was out of stock. Nobody told us that earlier.
We then asked for our bill and checked out and left. I didn't want to stress about it so we headed home.
Instinct told me earlier that day not to go out anymore and just order food. Because I wanted my partner to feel better, I gave in to going out.
Anyway, all is well for we have the pansit. It was still warm when we got home and that's what we ate. Besides I already had a cup of coffee and coffee makes everything feel better.
When we met with some friends today and relayed that experience, one of them said that the management of that said restaurant is different from the other branch. That branch we went to yesterday was the main branch. It is a family business. However, when the head of the family died earlier this year, each branch was given to different children. I guess they didn't agree with the way things are managed because the other branch is better in terms of food and service.
There is still some leftover from the pansit. Come and join me.
They should have told you earlier that the bulalo is out of stock, not having to make you wait for that long. That was a very poor customer service, I can't imagine waiting for something for over an hour, only to be told that it is out of stock, it will get me really angry.
