Happy moments and then alarming news
Yesterday was a dinner at a friends' house.
The hubby is a great cook that's why two of our friends requested two different dishes to be cooked which he obliged. That dinner was supposedly the other day but because the one friend who requested had a granddaughter who got sick so we postponed. Unfortunately, she got sick yesterday too. Sadly, she can't join us.
After my work yesterday, me and my partner then went there to our friends' home. I actually scheduled it an hour earlier but I couldn't finish my tasks sooner that's why we were late for one-and-a-half hours. The other friend and kids brought with them another food which is everyone's favorite as well. Me and my partner took care of the ice cream. We decided to buy it from the nearby stores where our friends live. It was the same store that we buy ice cream from whenever we visit them. Good thing there were two ice creams available still.
One other reason why our friends invited us over is to taste the coffee that was gifted to her by the friend who got sick and was absent yesterday. It does taste good. It has that aroma of rice coffee and the taste is light or maybe that's how our friend wanted it. Until now I can feel the effect - sleepy. Some of us there do share the same effect of coffee on us.
We did enjoy the food, coffee and stories and the time together. Another friend was able to catch up. Unfortunately, it was a school/work week so we had to leave early. One of our friend's kids was pestering his mom to go home. They have no choice but to go. We also followed later on to keep company the other friend who came late but we had to leave them for work is calling.
During our time there, it was a conversation about a girl who was raped, murdered and abandoned tied, gagged and naked. This was circulating online and there is only one reaction - alarm and worry. This heinous crime rarely happens in the city. As per the last post I have read about that, they were able to identify the girl from her tattooed name on her back. Her two kids were orphaned instantly.
Then as we were about to go home, a video taken in an area full of bars recorded someone who fired a gun. There was only one shot recorded in the video. When we passed the area, all seemed quiet but there was a mobile car there. I hope no one was hurt.
These incidents made us worried sick for ourselves and our loved ones. Rumors of white vans kidnapping people make matters worse.
We do read similar stories happening elsewhere but when it happens in your city, you can't help but be concerned.
Reading comments from these posts, the common response is more CCTVs installed around the city, imposing curfew or better yet another lockdown so the police force can hopefully better monitor the citizens.
Take care everyone wherever you are. Watch out for each other not to spy on them so you can have something to gossip about but be vigilant and take care of each other.
Such events are happening all around us. A woman has to be abused more. There are many people in our country who do not judge it.
