My son attended a birthday party of one of his playmate the other night . He came home telling his little sister what they had eaten in the party. This little girl told me to cook also as she loves spaghetti, it's her favorite. I told her I would the following day.

In a place like ours wherein rice is a staple crop and main dish that goes with any viand to pair it with.. Due to engagement to vigorous hard labor thus, the body needs carbs for energy. That's what explains the three meals in a day of rice servings. Snacks include another pack of carbs such as bread and other baked/steamed flour mixtures with coffee or any carbonated drinks. Root crops and glutinous rice flour delicacies are also prepared for snack.
In short, people here are heavy consumers of carbohydrates. But those who have white collar jobs or yellow collar ones whose works does not require much or no physical labor are having low carbs consumption especially nowadays that lifestyle diseases excuses no one and a leading cause of death.
While pasta were rarely serve unless during occasions. One also prepares it if he craves it but not as main dish but as side dish or as a snack.Popular pasta being prepared were spaghetti and macaroni salad.
I have not included the recipe because I know everyone of us knows how to do it. Its an easy to prepare meal which requires less effort and time.
Is spaghetti a junk food? No it's not, I can say because it contains vitamins and minerals which the body needs but we know that too much of something is bad so we have to consume it minimally, not unless you are one who engage or works heavy and does hard labours.
Our diet should contain carbs which mainly comes from grains such rice, pasta, cornmeal or oatmeal because our body needs it for energy especially when you're an active person.
The health benefits a spaghetti contain are carbohydrates, fiber protein, and a whole grain/wheat pasta contains higher levels of selenium, potassium and magnesium.
As stated earlier spaghetti is a good source of carbohydrates the body needs, a balanced diet must contain it for energy.If you prefer a healthier one then choose those that are made of whole wheat.
Spaghetti from whole wheat contains a good source of fiber. Fiber is very essential need in our body as it regulates blood sugar,digestion and immunity. Those who are watching their diet can have gluten free noodles. Fiber also makes you feel full from meals, thus allowing you to eat less.
Spaghetti contains also protein which is needed in building muscle mass.
With spaghetti sauce which is a mixture of tomato sauce, cheese, ground meat, some vegetables such as carrots or broccolli.If you sauteed the sauce with olive oil and garlic, it makes it more a healthier meal.
The sauce adds nutrients to the food as the added ingredients contain lycopene which contains contains vit. A, vit. C, calcium and iron that makes it an antioxidant from tomato sauce, fats from olive oil and cheese,protein from meat and other nutrients from vegetables.
Spaghetti is consumed and enjoyed as a versatile food that goes with any sauces or toppings
