Was able to get some shots of this beautiful flower when in bloom. Yhis time it has two variety,the yellow and a red one..We call the plant gumamela.
When we were kids we often collect its bud and sip the little sweet juice inside it.We plucked it's flowers and use it for playing bahay-bahayan. It's leaves we also pound or crushed pr mashed it until its slimy juice comes out and put it in a small can or any container,add some water and washing detergents and mix. We blow big bubbles out of it by dipping drinking straw and blow it on the other side.
As children,we used to collect its beautiful flowers and used for decorating our playhouse when we were young. Red is only the variety available back then.We plucked the petals and other grass' flowers and used for cooking items also when playing.
As it was a good for protection for garden plots from domestic animals, others would just cut it and directly struck it on the soil. It would soon grow creating a good barrier..
This shrub is often cultivated for ornamentals because of its beautiful and colorful flowers which are red, pink, purple, yellow,white,and orange.It does not require much care because it easily grows by cutting and planting it directly on soil or pots.
We use it's leaves to treat wounds and also boils. We just gather some fresh leaves, wash and pound or crush it on a clean surface until its juice comes out and apply it directly on the wound or boil.This process is called poultice. It can also be boiled before letting the juice out and applying on the wound or boil directly
Who knew that all of the shrub's parts can be use,from its roots to leaves to its flowers?. It's either dried or fresh on preparing and utilize it for πΏ herbal medicine.It's just washed thoroughly and cut into small pieces and sun dry,for dried. And boil it directly if using it fresh. The process is called decoction.
Its flower petals were really amazing as it is used in teas π΅ which helps alleviate inflamations in the body.
Other health benefits of gumamela as decoction:
Antipyretic-it lowers body temperature during a fever;
Antibacterial properties-it helps with urinary tract infection;
lowers blood sugar;
helps with high blood pressure ;
helps strengthens the lungs;
Expectorant-for bronchitis and cough;and
prevention of constipation but helps also in treating dysentery
Additionally, it can also be used for skin problems such as skin inflammation, itchiness and wounds. Prepare it as a poultice whether boiled or not. Apply directly on affected part and cover it with clean cloth or gauze to hold it in place.
Furthermore, it is also believed to make the skin look younger and adds volume to hair...
