Talking about Ancient Egypt is fascinating, for no one is a secret that in it emerged great characters, and it was one of the most advanced civilizations in the world. We cannot deny that it is full of fascinating and captivating facts, just like the protagonist of this story. Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator (Goddess who loves her father). She occupied the seventh place of the Ptolemaic Dynasty. Born in Egypt in 69 B.C, her father was Ptolemy XII Auletes, the descendant of Ptolemy I, who started one of the most powerful dynasties in history, which lasted almost 3 centuries.

Before Cleopatra VII, the great Alexander the Great was born, thanks to his skills and military power, he managed to occupy ancient Egypt, to include it in his Empire, but as nothing is forever when he died, his generals began to look for a way to take possession of these eastern lands, causing a serious political and economic conflict, who were affected were the poor citizens who inhabited this nation. Taking advantage of these moments of weakness, that the Roman Generals had, the general Macedonian Ptolemy I, started a war, in which he became the winner and proclaimed King of Egypt, and it is here where he began to look for a way to unify these lands so mistreated and forgotten and thus solve the problems left by this division of land, thanks to this, he decided to create the Ptolemaic Dynasty, from which Cleopatra VII comes from.

Although Cleopatra VII was born in Egypt, her ancestry is Greek, by descent from the Macedonian General Ptolemy I, however, she adopted many customs of ancient Egypt, to the point of becoming the first ruler of this dynasty, to learn the Egyptian language. When her father died, her brother and she were appointed rulers of the empire, but when Ptolemy XIII (her brother), turned 15, decided to banish Cleopatra, to rule alone, it is noteworthy that in some historical fragments, and different historians, claim but others deny, that there was incest between the brothers because to preserve the dynasty, and lineage, were forced to marry, but this marriage, ended quite badly.

While in Egypt the social, political, and economic problems began, due to the bad government of Ptolemy XIII, he allied himself with Pompey, who gave him the name of Sole Governor of Egypt. Cleopatra gathered a large number of men, and returned with his army, to snatch power from his brother, however, this outnumbered her in numbers and strength, preventing his entry into Alexandria. But fate takes many turns, and in Egyptian waters, there was a fierce war between Julius Caesar and Pompey, the latter, being weakened, decided to ask for asylum from his friend Ptolemy XIII. The Pharaoh's advisors advised him to reflect on such a decision because Egypt could become the new scenario of a Roman Civil War. Ptolemy was not only thinking about such a situation, but there was also a rumor that his sister was gathering a new army, and he no longer had the strength to defeat her. The great pharaoh had no choice but to end the life of his "ally" Pompey, he had his head cut off and sent it to Julius Caesar, in this way he wanted to get rid of a problem and gain the support of the Romans to prevent his sister from succeeding him on the throne. For this action, Caesar asked to meet with both brothers in Alexandria and ordered them to make peace, to rule together. But this did not happen.

The Goddess of Egypt, as she called herself, decided to use her qualities, talents, and abilities to seduce this Roman politician, and it is said that she succeeded, they spent a night of passion, which made Cleopatra see differently when she learned of such an event, Ptolemy, began to move his chips and urged citizens to riot against them, but this simply made Julius Caesar, ended with the allies of the Pharaoh, and started a war against him, leaving, as a result, the death of Ptolemy XIII. Because of these events, strangely, the Library of Alexandria, one of the most fascinating in the world, was burned. And so Cleopatra began to rule in a really devastated Egypt, full of diseases and with a great famine, which she managed to appease, and many claims that during her reign, most of the problems had solutions, the country was reborn, she cared for her people, and sought ways to ensure that they lacked nothing, however, sometimes not everything goes as we want or think, when Julius Caesar was killed, her problems began because she was what stood between Rome and her goal of being the owners of the world.

The history of this fascinating woman is extensive, and as much as we want to summarize, we can not avoid extending, however, we will summarize it, sharing these curious facts about her, to complement the above:

¿Was she really beautiful?

In literature and television, she is represented as a beautiful woman, with great physical qualities that would captivate anyone, and thanks to that she managed to seduce anyone to achieve her goals. However, some experts say something very different from that, they agree that her true beauty was inside her and that Cleopatra, from a very young age, had the best teachers of those times, educated in subjects such as: "Politics, Mathematics, Philosophy, Oratory, Medicine, and Astronomy", and spoke a large number of languages, imagine what it must have been like, to have a conversation with this fascinating woman, who knew a little bit of everything. And on top of that, she knew how to use her charms to achieve what she set out to do. The historian Plutarch said in one of his writings: "Her appearance was not at all incomparable, but her intellect, wit, charm, and sweetness in the tones of her voice made her irresistible to all".

¿Was she a Goddess?

Her subjects saw her as the reincarnation of Isis, one of the most important Goddesses of Egyptian mythology, and for that reason, she believed that that's why her celebrations were so extravagant, to such an extent, that when foreigners visited her palace and presented themselves before her, they were so surprised, and presented themselves before her, she received them as if she were Isis herself, everyone was astonished and captivated, that is why the rumor began to spread that Cleopatra was a Goddess, obviously, her detractors said that they were simply the madness of the Queen.

¿Did she forms a club?

This is going to sound like a joke, but yes, she formed a club with Marco Antonio, according to experts, this club called "The Drunkards Club", was dedicated to making parties for a whole year, where they only ate, drank, and vomited. These celebrations were accompanied by great orgies, it is said that many times the couple was seen in disguise walking the streets of Alexandria, making bad taste jokes to the citizens.

¿How many children did she have?

The Egyptian Goddess had 4 children, the first one called Caesarion, who many claims were the product of her love and affair with Julius Caesar, the twins Cleopatra Selene and Alexander Helios, and the youngest Ptolemy Philadelphus. It should be noted that the father of the last three children was Mark Antony. When she died, Emperor Augustus, asked to meet with Caesarion, with the excuse of giving him power, to rule, but the truth is that it was all a vile lie. All this was done to kill the boy, some say he was between 14 and 16 years old. The children she had with Marco Antonio were taken to Rome, where his widow took care of them and gave them a better life.

¿Was she cruel?

This is a difficult question, historical data, agree that Cleopatra, commanded to kill his brothers, and political rivals, in this way no one could get in the way of their plans, to be the maximum Governor of Egypt, despite not kill them herself, if she was the mastermind of each death, had many allies, who possessed the skills to simulate accidents to deter such vile acts, and that the reputation of the Goddess was not stained.

Between the years 32 and 30 B.C. C, a war breaks out, where Emperor Augustus makes enemies of Rome to Cleopatra and General Mark Antony, thus moving all his power to Egypt, to kill them, it is not until the year 31 when he began a naval battle called "Actium", where the forces of Mark Antony, are defeated, saving him and Cleopatra by luck, they decide to escape and hide in Alexandria, however, Augustus decided to kill the couple and takes the city, Antonio to be lost and surrounded, decides to take his own life. However Cleopatra thought she still had a chance to save her life, and to captivate another Roman, it would be the third and decided to seduce Augustus, however, this did not flinch, just laughed, and simply put her under arrest. To take her to Rome and show her off as booty. And it is here where many theories arise about Cleopatra's death, some claim that she committed suicide, and others that she was killed. But in Virtual Variety, we agree with the suicide, remember that this woman liked to be in control, she was self-confident, proud, she knew what she wanted, and what she proposed she achieved, but when she was lost, when she saw that her charms did not work, why continue with that life, if she would be exhibited like an animal, among the Romans. Tell us what do you think, did she commit suicide or was she killed?.

How have I not found your articles before?

I believe Cleopatra was killed, actually. Even the most venomous snake in Egypt can't be forced to kill not only her but her handmaidens as well. This is especially true as snakes can choose to inject venom or not, many bites actually being "dry bites". They also don't have an infinite amount of venom and more than just Cleopatra died in that room.

Many things can happen. In those days suicide and homicide went hand in hand. People did not reach the age of 40. They all died of various causes. Either natural or accidental. There were people over 40 years old but at what cost. Cleopatra would also live her tragedies to survive her enemies.
