There are terrifying events that can mark a place for many years, no matter how much time passes, this will bring unimaginable consequences, this is the case what is happening today in Venezuela, in some towns of the country, you hear at night or early morning noises screams that torment, anyone who dares to listen to them or try to find where they come from, many call it La Carreta de la Muerte (the cart of death).

Like the great majority of South American countries, Venezuela was a European colony, and right in that Colonial Era, stories emerged, which today continue to be told most darkly in the world. At the beginning of the XIX century, the Black Plague arrived in Latin America, or as it was called in many countries the Black Vomiting, the arrival of this disease was not very different from what happened in the old continent, many died, the authorities no longer knew what to do to contain the large number of sick people who fell at the hands of this terrible disease.

It is said that large pits were opened in the cemeteries, and where many of the bodies were thrown because there were not enough. However, others had the "good luck" of being buried in coffins, but imagine that there were so many corpses, that many people who declared dead were actually unconscious, and for that reason at night they screamed when they woke up surrounded by corpses, so they looked for a way to get out of some graves and return to their homes, it must have been a really terrifying scene when they knocked on your door at dawn, and it was that relative that they had "buried" during the day.

How they moved these corpses was in a cart pulled by horses, the man who handled it always wore a mask to cover his face, they say that he went from house to house taking the dead, and from there to the cemetery, many were afraid of him, because they knew that when he passed by the houses he was looking for the dead for the cemetery, many said to close their windows and cover their ears, so as not to hear that terrible noise of the agitated horses. That man who drove the wagon earned several names: "The Devil's Wagon", "The End of Time". Many assumed that the world was almost ending because of this terrible disease that was killing everyone.

However the world did not end, the years passed, the colonial era ended, from being a colony, we became a Republic, however, these times did not come alone, the myths and legends that arose in past centuries also accompanied us, and is that in the capital of Venezuela (Caracas), Many neighbors claimed that at night they could not sleep, something tormented them, at that time in the twentieth century few houses had access to electricity, many houses still had oil lamps, or many candles, so the nights were darker than normal.

Some affirmed that from 12 o'clock at night, they heard the passing of some horses that came agitated, at the beginning they heard that they were far away, but when they got closer to their windows, the sound was stronger, but not only the horses were heard, but also the sound of a cart, which seemed to have rusty iron wheels, just at that moment, the dogs began to howl, the shiver that took possession of their bodies was so strong, that they had to return to their beds, it seemed that the temperatures were dropping.

Others say that not only the horses or the cart are heard, but also cries for help, moans, people screaming that they do not want to die, while the horses are whipped by a masked man.

In many cities and towns of Venezuela, the Cart of Death comes out, it is always after midnight, I have never witnessed this, but I know people who have, despite being in the XXI century these entities continue to appear, that wander through many streets looking for answers, be it true or false, we cannot deny that the lands where we live today, many centuries ago were witnesses of terrible punishments, diseases, tragic deaths, something must be trapped there, looking for answers, looking for help. But tell us, ¿Do similar things happen in your country?.

Venezuela has many stories of apparitions that are still alive and well. Especially in the villages. It doesn't matter if it is the plains, the center, the west or the Andes, the people of the towns always have terrifying stories to tell at night.

That is terrifying. To be buried alive! I wonder if those who returned from the grave were accepted back with open arms though.

I can't recall if there are similar stories like that here. I can only imagine the terror and fear that gripped the people when that witching hour comes.

That reminds me of the movie Sleepy Hollow.

It was undoubtedly a terrifying effect for the relatives who opened the doors at night and found those relatives who cried in their "death", a really unpleasant scene.
