A Corner of Germany in Venezuela

There are many curiosities of this beautiful South American country, but one of the most curious is that only 60 kilometers from Caracas (Capital of Venezuela) are a German colony, yes, you are reading well, something really curious, this place is called La Colonia Tovar, and belongs to the Aragua State, however the history of how these Germans settled down we will know in the next paragraph:
Venezuela was a country that spent the eighteenth century in many wars, which resulted in the Independence of the Spanish Empire, however, this brought many problems to the South American nation, diseases, shortages, lack of labor, and that is why the government that took control at that time, decided to enact a law that facilitated the entry of those European immigrants who wanted to settle in Venezuela, which is why one of the first to arrive were the Germans.
Under the government of Jose Antonio Paez worked together with the scientist and one of the greatest explorers of the New World Alexander Von Humboldt, to find a suitable place where these foreigners could develop agricultural activities, preserve their culture, traditions, and good quality of life, however, the problem was the climate, which is why they chose one of the lands of Mr. Manuel Tovar, one of the members of the most powerful families of the country at that time.
This is how Colonia Tovar became the ideal site, because it is 2000 meters above sea level, and shares "borders" with Caracas and the Caribbean Sea. The first to arrive were 400 Germans from different families, they made replicas very similar to their houses in Germany, from beautiful houses to tourist hotels, and the structure of this town transports you without a doubt to Germanic lands, it is something incredible.

This became the gateway to the immigration of many more Europeans, from Italians to French, who were encouraged by the arrival of these German settlers and how well they were starting to do. Going to Colonia Tovar is to fall in love with Germany because they make you feel like in that beautiful country, one of the main sources of income of this beautiful place in the handicrafts and agriculture, among them we can find strawberries, peaches, blackberries, and other fruits. It is curious how they also adapted to Venezuela, and how they still keep their language, which they call Colonial German and Spanish.

Undoubtedly many, remember that the country at that time, 1800, was emerging from many conflicts, unfortunately, did not have great intellectual minds, was becoming a Republic, but lacked those great minds that would bring ideas, those great professionals, it turns out that in that group of Germans who came to form the Colonia Tovar, were: Writers, Painters, Scientists, Professors, among other things, one of the first things that were created in Venezuela after the arrival of these immigrants were the Botanical Gardens, Craft Beers, and plans to expand the railroads of the country, among other things.
Venezuela has been a country that undoubtedly opens the door to those immigrants looking for a better place, for many years, and certainly, the Colonia Tovar is the best proof we have of this, despite the terrible situation through which the country is going through, the terrible reality, reading such stories, makes us see that it has always sought to give a helping hand to those who need it, this South American country is full of surprises, and we will take the task of telling you, of course, if you want.
