RandomBlogger wanted my old article in the English version and I decided to fulfill that wish. Southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Europe.
The Neretva river has the Latinized name Narona, as the ancient Romans called it. This is Mostar, for me the most beautiful place in the world, no matter how pretentious it may sound.
The Neretva is the only large river in this region, which faces the Adriatic Sea, into which it flows. All other our rivers gravitate towards the Danube, and thus the Black Sea.
The upper course of the line is a mecca for anglers and rafters. Still wildlife around. Before the advent of the Internet and cryptocurrencies, children used to be at the beaches of Mostar for hours and hours in the summer.
One curiosity related to the name of the river itself, this upper course was known as Borač in the Austro-Hungarian period and before that. Only from the middle course of the same river was the geographical term Neretva known to the people.
This is exactly where the Mediterranean and continental climates mix. Well at the same time we can see mandarins blooming and white snow falling on the surrounding mountains.
The part of Narona from the source to the middle course is the best for fishing. This part in the pictures is the mature part, very close to the sea.
It has its own beautiful delta, which is flooded with fertile agricultural fields near Čapljina. This is my fishing river @RandomBloger .
Beautiful river, beautiful pictures! I believe that you rest your soul and eyes on the river!
