Solidarity on the pages of the calendar of the EU PRO program for 2021
Young people in Serbia have shown in art that solidarity, which is an essential European value, is healing, erases borders between people, generations and countries, and that it is not difficult to be in solidarity and follow simple preventive measures that give results in overcoming difficult current situations. situations. High school students also showed that they care for the most endangered who need help - the elderly, children, pregnant women, people with disabilities or some disease, and that doctors are the heroes of our time.
"The European Union has significantly helped Serbia to cope more easily with the covid-19 pandemic in 2020, primarily by reallocating unspent funds from IPA funds that financed the purchase of medical equipment and medicines, and the most important large funds are for post-pandemic economic and social recovery. of our country. Solidarity has become a basic topic of relations between Serbia and the EU, and this year's works show that young artists, high school students, have noticed, understood and illustrated it with their drawings. It is important to say that Serbia, as a candidate for EU membership, has demonstrated solidarity with member states in difficult times for them and has shown itself as a country that can contribute to strengthening the Union in the future, "said Jadranka Joksimovic, Minister for European Affairs. integration.
The European Union (EU) in partnership with the Ministry of European Integration has supported this art competition for more than a decade and thus motivates young people to be creative, but also active members of their local communities.
"The past 2020 has once again confirmed the old saying that a friend in need knows each other, that solidarity makes us stronger and that only together can we overcome every adversity," said Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia, Mateja Norcic Stamcar, adding that the crisis caused by the spread of the coronavirus has once again confirmed that solidarity transcends generations and nations.

According to the votes of the audience and the expert jury, they responded best to this year's theme "Solidarity unites us", which aimed to encourage young people to recognize the importance of solidarity during the pandemic.
"Just as the students presented examples of solidarity that started the community, so the countries of the European Union towards Serbia, but also Serbia towards the EU countries, with concrete support, showed during this crisis that solidarity knows no borders. The assistance provided by the EU was primarily focused on strengthening the health system of the Republic of Serbia, donating the necessary health equipment and hiring medical staff, but it also took into account the support of marginalized groups by procuring basic food and hygiene products, "concluded the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation. In the coming period, it will continue with the already provided support provided by the EU for economic recovery.
