Good Day Guys

Ants

Here's a quick update on some of the insects that I take care of. These are my ants, they come from the Camponotus sp. species according to an ant group where I asked this to get identified. They are also known as Carpenter ants. Right now, they are inside a formicarium that I made. It was feeding time and I fed them a cockroach. Whenever I feed them, I usually yank out the head of the cockroach and place it on the rock. When I yanked its head off, I was surprised that there was so much yellow stuff that came with its head. And I remembered that I fed the cockroaches some mango. Look at how they were flooding it.

If you look at the corner those are where I placed the bodies of the cockroaches. I fed them 2 during that day.

I also made their favorite mixture and its sugar water in a test tube.

When I placed the test tube there, some ants were really curious. Until they went to the cotton. And tasted the mixture.

After a few minutes here come all the ants. Drinking from it. It's really amusing to watch them because you could see their bellies growing.

This is inside my formicarium, I never got to remote it already. You could see all the brood at the corner. If you look closely at some ants at the entrance you could see some of their gasters full of sugar water.

Spring Tails

Here's my colony of springtails. If you look at the side of the tub and see those white specks, those are the springtails. they help with decomposing and the prevention of molds. My brother usually puts it inside his tarantula enclosure. I also place them inside my ant enclosure but the problem is that they get them hunted down. It's easy to keep a colony because all you have to do is have coal, a tub, water, and rice. They love eating uncooked rice.

Dubia Cockroach

This is my Dubia Cockroach Colony, it's my first time raising them. I was actually successful in raising them. I have them for sustainability so I don't have to look for food from other sources. We usually feed them to our pet tarantulas and ants. Here's a photo of them eating the seed of the Mango. I usually also give them the peelings from the fruits/ vegetables that are getting disposed of.

Thanks for reading and Stay safe always!
