This is my plan, episode 18 of amateur investing!

*Disclaimer: This is not financial advice and is purely for entertainment purposes. All my stock information is 100% accurate, but my crypto data may or may not be simulated*

Ā

I share everything so you can follow everything Iā€™m doing with 100% transparency. The point of doing all this is to show you that itā€™s possible and provide some sort of framework that can be followed. This isnā€™t financial advice, and you shouldnā€™t exactly replicate my investing. What you should do is figure out what works best for you and stick to the basics of dollar-cost averaging, investing in good assets, avoid liabilities, compounding interest, be frugal, buy low, and sell high.

Ā

I cover my rules for investing here: https://lbry.tv/@ScottCBusiness:4/Investing:d

Here is the breakdown for my investing and budgeting templates: https://odysee.com/@ScottCBusiness:4/If-You-Want-To-Save-Money:7

Ā

Below I will list everything for the monthly report:

I cover the recent stock buys I went through, share my portfolio breakdown updates, and share my thoughts on the current market. Not a lot has happened this month, Iā€™ve just been repaying back my ā€œborrowedā€ tax money. I am currently making about $137.33 a month from passive income mostly from stock dividends, crypto income, and some from music royalties. Iā€™m on track to hit my goal of earning $150 on average per month from passive income by the end of the year. This will effectively cover 3 utility bills once achieved.

Ā

My portfolio is roughly rounded to about 86% crypto, 14% stocks, and less than 1% in precious metals. While Iā€™m still earning a great deal of crypto I am not adding more to my positions and instead saving up some money before I focus on maxing out my TFSA.

Ā

My total annual projected income from passive sources is $1724.92. $1,464.99 of those yearly profits are coming from stock dividends, about $181.73 are coming from cryptocurrency staking, I already earned about $16.38 from my RealT crypto tokenized real estate before I sold it, and $61.83 came from music royalties. My crypto income project has gone way up now that Iā€™ve started focusing more on building my passive income crypto positions.

Ā

In my last update, my total portfolio value was $269,853.08 CAD. My current portfolio value with all my investments is $250,821. This is down about $19,000 from last monthā€™s total value. This isnā€™t a huge dip, so Iā€™m not too worried. Over the past several months Iā€™ve dealt with volatility upwards of $60,000 portfolio swings so this isnā€™t anything new and I still believe we are on track for a big rise soon.

Ā

I earned $59.18 CAD from stock dividends, $0 CAD from crypto real estate, and $7.95 CAD from my last month of staking Hive, HBD, TRX, and MTR staking on Den.Social. In total, I have earned about $331.55 CAD from crypto and $1,114.17 CAD from stock dividends. I have been starting to focus more on crypto passive income. Also note that I accidentally shared these stats on September 2nd for Julyā€™s report instead of Julyā€™s numbers so donā€™t be confused. My apologies.

Ā

My portfolio in terms of sector breakdown is now 12% Utilities, 20% Insurance, 18% Banking, 25% Real Estate, 1% into an Investment Fund, and 24% into general ETFs. Iā€™ve not changed anything other than buying a few more shares in an investment fund. My goal is to average about a 5% yield on my portfolio and Iā€™m currently at an average yield of 4.83% which Iā€™m comfortable with.

I am currently still down -32% on $4,300 worth of Bitcoin ETF growth stocks and up 12.51% on my $32,635 worth of dividend stocks.

Ā

For crypto, my breakdown is now 2% LBC, 3% DASH, 2% BCH, 1% LTC, 53% ETH, and 39% BTC. This is allegedly valued at $199,183 CAD at the time of writing this. Iā€™ve been going all-in on BTC & ETH as I truly believe the next few months will be life-changing and Iā€™ve aligned my financials accordingly over the past year. I still expect to see big changes in the next few months if not the next year and if not that, then in the next cycle.

Ā

Was this helpful for you? What stocks do you invest in? Do you prefer growth investing or building passive income? Do you invest in cryptocurrencies that pay out regularly? Let me know what you think about this in the comments below and donā€™t forget to subscribe!

My entire portfolio consists of cryptocurrencies. According to experts, this is a mistake. I'm not talking about $100,000. Just a few hundred dollars. I must admit that I am still a novice trader. I win 5, lose 3. Sometimes I win 3 and lose 5. Oh my God. This is a terrible situation. I am actually learning. Thinking like that is a consolation for me. I make fewer mistakes day by day. This is progress.

Very interesting to read what others are doing and how they have their allocations set. For me stocks continue to be the driving force of my wealth, growth, and income. Hey, it's nothing against crypto. It's just what I happen to know very well. But as all things are when it comes to financial matters, things evolve. The more you learn the more you are willing to change things up and move things around.

My allocations are much different than yours. 40% stocks, 59% cash, and 1% crypto. My cash allocations are much larger these days as I have been moving securities into cash for about the past year/year and a half or so.

Maybe I will write about why I have chosen to make this move.

And when it comes to what I have in stocks, almost all of my holdings are dividend payers with an average yield of about 6% overall.

I have some HUGE payers like QYLD and PSEC (both in the US markets). QYLD pays 12% and PSEC pays 9%. But I also own some large companies as well such as Walmart (WMT), Oshkosh Corporation (OSK), British Petroleum (BP), InBev (BUD), among many others. I like diversification, although I will admit that a lot of my holdings are in general consumables. I tend to enjoy the "repeat business" of consumablesā€”even in my sales position the best win for me with customers is on the consumable side (I sell concrete ready mix mixer truck parts and concrete batch plant parts). When you can win their brushes, hoses, nozzles, chute scrapers, and things like that...it's just good money and good repeat business.

That being said, where I hold most of my cash I still try to keep it in a higher yield place. Ally Bank is what I primarily use, and while not so long ago they paid 2%, they now pay 0.5%, but it is still better than a traditional savings account. In crypto, for compound growth and to have a place to "store" gains from other coins I use ALGO which pays a 4% yield.

Just my perspective, looking at your portfolio I think you may be quite a bit too heavy on crypto. Your stock portfolio should probably be closer to the 40% mark (higher than that at certain times in market cyclesā€”for example, my ratio is 60% most of the time to stocks). BUT I am a stock market GUY of course, AND I am also 48 years old. I am surmising you are much younger, and so you can absorb a higher level of risk as well.

Either way I am finding what you provide here to be very valuable and informational, and even entertaining. I enjoy the insight you provide and I will keep checking in to see it.

What a massive growth, even though you still aiming bigger, that's the secret behind every successful man.

I'm still new to the system of cryptocurrency , but with the little knowledge I have since i joined, i get to realize the importance of investing in crypto, buying low and selling high.one of the things I learned too and it has been of great benefits for me.

Thanks taking your efforts to write out all this, I'm sure majority will find this helpful, I'm not excluded.

Thought about Big Pharma since they are raking in billions but thought otherwise. I don't want to be involved in what I consider to be filthy lucre.

Yeah, I've avoided anything I don't agree with. I mean I don't really "agree" with banks, but it's a pretty good investment

Central bankers are not cool what with their manipulation but I have to agree that they are by and large a good investment.
