Awero was a very beautiful lady. It was as if God did "extra work" on her when He was creating her. Awero was the cynosure of all eyes anywhere she went. Many suitors sort for her hand in marriage but Awero did not consent. Very rich influential and notable young men came to put pressure on her parents to grant them the chance to marry their daughter.
Awero was not only pretty she was smart and intelligent. When her parents were getting worried about the number of suitors and how she would successfully sift the wheat from the chaff and get best man unknown to them, Awero had already perfected her plans. She had a joker to use as litmus test for all prospective suitors.
Awero narrowed her choice to three men. She felt any of the pretty and handsome men would suit her but she was not sure of their character. How would she ascertain the character of the one that she will eventually choose and present to her parents. The three contending suitors never knew each other because they came at different time. Awero visited an old wise woman as Solomon was, she told Awero the exact thing to do so that two suitors would be eliminated and retain the best.
Awero collected all the gifts and cash brought by each of the three suitors. In a very clever way she kept a good record of all the items presented to her out of their own volition in order to win her heart. The record of cash donated was securely and meticulously kept. After a considerable period of time, Awero felt she should carry the test on all the three suitors as instructed by the old wise woman. One day, Awero brought out her joker. She told her parents to inform all her suitors that she was dead, after a brief illness.
She gave her parents all the gifts and cash given to her by the men seeking her hand in marriage. Whoever came and heard of her death should be given all the gifts and cash given to her if the man requested for them. Two suitors came one after the another and they were told of Awero's death. Each of them brought out a catalogue of gifts already given to Awero. They were presented to her thinking she will marry them. They requested for an urgent refund of all gifts presented in cash and kind, failure to do so may result in their arrest.
Since a contingency arrangement had been made by Awero before their arrival, her parents returned their gifts. When the third or the last suitors came, he wailed and lamented the tragic and sudden death of Awero. He expressed his sympathy to Awero's parents and promised to pay them another condolence visit again.
The third suitor did not ask for his refund of gifts already given to Awero when Awero's parents expressed their readiness to give him all his donation, he turned down the offer. He promised to contribute to the burial of Awero, a lady hevloved very well. The action of the third suitor showed his strength of character, his genuine and sincere love for Awero.
Later, Awero was given a report of the response of the three suitors, she immediately choose the third suitor to be her husband. His actions marked him out! He was not a gambler but had genuine love for her. The parents were surprised. They didn't know at last that Awero would cleverly choose the best out of all the suitors. If you are being disturbed as a lady by many men, ask for wisdom (among other things) and you will get the best!
