Christmas is fast approaching!

Almost everyone is off on vacations, well, those lucky enough to be in jobs that give a lot of vacation days.

We are amongst those lucky ones, because as musicians in Venezuela, unless you have independent groups, by December 20th all orchestras are free until January.

Well, as tradition I believe all over the globe, offices and organizations throw Christmas Party's for the staff an their families. We can't do that, or at least not like we used to do it, only because we don't have the budget to afford a party with all it has, food, drinks, decorations, etc.

Gladly, good things come for those who are pure at heart and we managed to do a Pool Party and we had it yesterday.

What you see in the picture is the Military Club Los Cocos located in my home town. It use to be very exclusive but now almost everyone can enter, since the government took it and changed the name.

You have to pay 1$ to use the pool, if you're no going to do so, you can be there for free. There is a bar, some open cabins, those cost 5$ and there you can have all the food an drink that you want.

This party we planned it on the heat of the moment due to the lack of funds and our busy schedule. On Thursday we said where, when and why, and almost everyone came. What they didn't know was that our Academic Coordinator had planned a lunch and some gifts. I was in on all and even helped to buy all that he needed for the lunch.

The choice for the lunch was Fried Rice and it had chicken, pork and beef. We had bread and soda, also some snacks.

The gifts where Christmas Decorated Jars filled up with a Venezuelan Traditional Drink called Carato. This drink is made with corn although some make it with rice also, an it's flavored with Papelón or brown sugar, all spice and clove.

Served cold is very refreshing and filling, a glass of this is enough to complete any meal you have, or you can drink it between meals as a snack.

From the moment we got there the celebration started. My sister and I enjoyed a few beers, the best of the Venezuelan Brew, a Polarcita.

Some of the guys didn't wasted anytime to get into the pool to freshen up, although the climate wasn't that hot. They jumped, splashed and did a display of belly dives, hilarious!

After a while we served lunch, it was delicious, then waited enough to get back to the pool. I didn't went in, I couldn't, but I recorded some videos of them enjoying the sun and the company.

Around 5pm, the Karaoke was on, and I took that microphone and sang my lungs out. Sadly I can't upload them directly but take my word for it, it was a lot of fun.

We all got waisted and by 9pm the party was over and we all went home. This morning all started to write each other to ask about our respective hangovers and remembering funny anecdotes about the day.

At the end, I'm so happy that we all got to do this, after almost two years of hardship due to COVID-19. Maybe it was not traditional or fancy but we enjoyed our day, we got to be together like we haven't been in a long time, and that's the moments that matter, we are a family and yesterday I got to confirm that once more.
