The Leap of Faith
It's been a while since I last logged in to this platform. It brings back memories of when this site was thriving during the Community Quarantine of 2020. Revisiting the articles I wrote back then, I'm reminded of the journey I started as a side hustle nearly four years ago, hoping to become a full-time writer. Eventually, life took me back into the industry, and it's been a roller coaster ride ever since.
My last articles here were posted in 2021, right around the time the bot stopped upvoting. Despite this, I continued to write, covering our National Football Teams (the Azkals and Filipinas) and the Copa Paulino Alcantara in 2022. But then, life threw another curveball—I was laid off due to redundancy at Conduent. My final article before that happened? A piece on the Cinematic Experience of Voltes V: Legacy.
I managed to bounce back and worked with two more companies. At ProbeCx, I loved my schedule and the program I was part of, until it was dissolved and transferred to a different vendor. They reprofiled me and relocated me to a different site, but I didn’t get endorsed to operations since the new role involved an Australian telecommunications company.
My last job brought me back to the night shift, a challenge after a year on the day shift. I passed their Product Specifics Training and Academy Bay and got endorsed to Operations. My role involved assisting customers with email platform issues, particularly when they couldn't log in and needed to purchase a subscription for 24/7 Technical Support.
While many customers accepted the solution, others didn’t, which became stressful. Additionally, we had to assist customers from a partner company whose email accounts were migrated in April 2024, requiring us to troubleshoot server settings. Troubleshooting is my forte, but when the migration ended, the same issues resurfaced, now combined with sales—a skill I had to master quickly. I did my best to stay composed during interactions, even when customers became hostile, but the stress became overwhelming.
After nearly nine years in the Business Process Outsourcing industry—working across eCommerce, Productivity Tools, Telecommunications, Human Resources for a Pharmaceutical Company, Car Rental Services, and an Email Platform—I found myself at a crossroads. If I could turn back time, I would have pivoted my career much sooner.
After leaving my first company, I tried to become a Web Developer by enrolling in a three-month intensive coding bootcamp. I passed, but it didn’t work out, so I returned to my comfort zone. Now, nearly a decade later, I’ve discovered something that reignited my passion.
I decided to take a leap of faith and become a digital product seller. Over the past month, I've been active on social media, mainly TikTok and Instagram, working hard to manifest my first sale. Consistency has been key, but I’ve yet to see the results I hoped for. So, I’m returning to this platform to promote my products, share my expertise, and document my discoveries.

Voltes V: Legacy NO Spoiler Review

Here is my no-spoiler review of Voltes V: Legacy - the Cinematic Experience.
As I have mentioned in my previous article. Voltes V was loved from 4 different generations, not until the series was banned in the 80s due to its themes of violence and revolting against the regime. For the new generation that are curious what's the premise of this series? I recommend you can watch them over on YouTube and available in 2 different languages.

The reason why they decided to make it first into the big screen, it was like an ode to the final 4 episodes of the series which was made into a movie. However, this one shows the first 2 episodes. The full duration of the movie was only 1 hour and 45 minutes. I was expecting more from the clips of the mega trailer, and probably this will be shown throughout the course of the series.
Now, talking about the visual effects. I would say it was detailed meticulously. From the Voltes Vehicles, the camp itself and its military vehicles, the whole Boazanian armada, including Skullrook. Even the destructed environments of the rest of the country was perfectly detailed.
Another thing I loved was the transformation sequence, and the robot battles. I tried not to scream when they combine Earth's line of defense against the invading forces of the Boazanian Empire. Talking about the cast, most of them auditioned for the role, most of them were handpicked by the crew. I did not see any ounce of worst acting as all cast members were in their character.
Talking about the costumes, it matches just like the series but with a modern look for its military officers around Camp Big Falcon. Now, the animation scenes have to be rendered on a very long process, and it will take them either for hours, or even days just to get the finished product.
That is why the animation team behind the visual effects coordinated with TOEI Company in every scene for approval. The animation company based in Japan was amazed with the final results, and no wonder that Filipino animators can go on with the flow like other movies released by Hollywood.
Years have passed, the computer-generated images of the previous shows were not so impressive, and this was a jaw drop to other networks including GMA for them to improve on the quality, to the other networks I'd better recommend them taking some notes on this project.
The only downside was we are being left upon with the trend of upcoming movies based in comics that we love. Even the influence of KPop, Rom-coms, Drama are hitting the airwaves before and then. Now, we can show to the world what we can do by bringing world-class talent made by an all-Filipino production.
If you have plans watching the cinematic version of Voltes V, kindly do not record the few scenes of the movie since it will be a serious offence and I stand against piracy. The thrill of watching inside a cinema was breathtaking, and it brings back memories of my favorite anime series.
Another tip, bring tissues since I almost cried into the first part and final scene. No matter what you're going into, this will give you the motivation to move forward and face the adversity in life. And please, stay for the post credits scene which will revolve the future of the series once it is aired on national TV.

Your services are no longer required
It's been a while that I have not used this platform for months now since my last article. I have been busy with my full-time job; however, it was a bumpy ride and they have decided to no longer continue my services.
How did it all happen?
It was just an ordinary day in the office. Usual day routine. Working on the tickets that was assigned to me. Throughout the 1st half of my shift, I was done with half of the cases, until my supervisor asked me for a private matter. I begin to think it was bad news.
As expected, I got removed with the equation. And this was not like the previous one that I was terminated from my last company which I did not include it in my resume since it will be a bad record. The client's reason why I was removed was this.
**Redundancy** - the state of being not or no longer needed or useful. In business terms, when a company identifies a job that is no longer required in the workplace for any number of reasons.
What was the nature of my work?
With my last company, I was part of an international pharmaceutical company called Astellas. I am part of the Human Resources system where I get to deal with medical professionals, recruitment, directors, executives, all around the organizational chart. And this is where I process new hires, services like applying leaves, loans, reimbursements, organizational changes, including Payroll.
It was a tough job. For 10 months, there were mistakes that I have committed but they have given me the correct procedure, except for the other one who is a hot bed that do not understand the word "perfection".
Going back, so the client (Astellas) has decided to no longer continue my services as an English HR Specialist, so they want focus more on the bilinguals. It is ironic when the moment you finish your work on a weekend, then you receive this bad news from your Team Lead.
From their perspective, they do not understand my value and importance as an English specialist. However, when I am around my colleagues and my supervisor do understand why I was needed the most.
**Aftermath?**
I have no choice, but to sign the agreement given to me. Now, I'm in a floating status unless they have found a suitable program within the company, or if not, then within the month while writing this post they will declare me as involuntarily separated due to Redundancy.
It will be a big loss for them, not for me why they decided to let me go. It was a bumpy ride, through thick and thin for 10 months. The moment I left, things were about to messed up and I can no longer disclose any events that is currently happening there.
It is not the end for me. My life doesn't end here, there will be new opportunities to come, with endless possibilities. If you have reached the very end of this article, I'm open to any invites, offers, and now looking for a new company to serve for.
AFF Women's Football | Philippines Vs. Australia Round 2
The stage is set. 10 countries battle it all out for the trophy. Only one remains the victor. Our Philippine Women's National Football team (the Filipinas) will take on other South East Asian neighbors under Group A - Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. But before that, they will encounter another country from the Oceania region.
The Filipinas will go toe-to-toe with the Matildas, which will be their second meet-up and months after their last meeting during the group stages of the AFC Women's Asian Cup. An honorable defeat, with only four goals to nil in favor of the Australians but the Filipinas stood their ground until the final whistle.
With a podium finish after winning the Bronze Medal against Myanmar (2 - 1) during the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, and their friendly matches in Europe, a 1 - nil loss to Ireland, and a double victory against Bosnia & Herzegovina (3 - 2; 2 - 1) the Filipinas are now in great form, ready to play in front of their fans, and supporters at the heart of the nation's capital in Manila.
Today's match is going to be like, we skipped the appetizer, the éntree, and go ahead to the main course. We cannot underestimate the Matildas since they have top-caliber players. Our taste buds will absolutely go crazy for this match, and who knows, Coach Alen Stajcic may have tricks under his sleeve. Regardless of the result and the outcome of the match, we may have a new rivalry in Women's Football.
Now that the Filipinas will play in front of their fans, the grand mosque of Filipino Football - Rizal Memorial Stadium, is now open to the general public after converting the venue for Local Stranded Individuals (LSIs) who got stranded during the lockdown 2 years ago.
We are inviting everyone to show your support for the Filipinas, as they battle it all out for the AFF Women's Championship. There are two ways you can show your support for our lady booters. For those who can't make it in Manila, it will be televised on OneSports, OneSports+, and on Cignal.

Double Header | Cebu FC against relentless Mendiola

Now that Kaya gains another 3 points against Stallions, it is time for the main event of last Monday's double header match. The Turkish Revolution has only begun, it's Dynamic Herb Cebu FC against the brave sons of Mendiola FC 1991.
Looking back on Mendiola's previous results (image below), they're on the bottom table with 3 losses to Maharlika, ADT, and Kaya FC, while 2 draws to Stallion and United City, of which they cannot pass through Michael Asong's post and his great goalkeeping skills. Cebu, on the other hand with 2 wins with their 1st victory against Stallions and an automatic victory against ADT which their match didn't go through last Thursday, and for their preparation for the South East Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
As we check the starting lineups for Cebu, Roberto Corsame Jr., the super sub from their 1st match with Stallions Laguna earned his spot for the Starting Eleven. While for Mendiola FC, Ashley Flores is back at the helm, Stephen Appiah at the front, and this will be Asong's biggest challenge in the tournament. Will Cebu FC continue their 3rd winning streak? Or can Mendiola withstand Cebu's ferocious explosives?
17 minutes into the first half, and still scoreless but Cebu FC steps on the pedal to attack when Lorenzo Genco outside the penalty area in the left flank tested Michael Asong making their 1st chance. One minute later, a long pass to Mart Altinoz inside the box follows it up with the shot using his left foot, but saved by Asong. 3 minutes later, it is Mendiola’s turn when Junior Sam was surrounded with 2 defenders, finds Aaron Altiche with a long shot effort but cleared out by Ace Villanueva.
Still scoreless after numerous free kicks as they’re testing out Michael Asong, as we go into the 40th Minute, Junior Sam with the opportunity to make it 1 - nil as he sprints into the penalty area looking for Ashley Flores, however John Saldivar made an error after his slide tackle in order to clear out the ball within the danger area. The moment he stood up, his hand got caught with the ball, and a Penalty Kick was given to Mendiola FC. Hamed Hajimedi takes the penalty and Mendiola takes the lead with 1 - nil.
One minute later, another chance for the brave sons of Mendiola when the cross coming from the left flank, Villanueva tries to reach for the ball but went loose, as Cebu FC tries to clear the ball out, Sam recovers and attempts for a lob shot, punched away by Villanueva as the ball rebounds to Hajimedi as he goes for 2 - nil. Off Target and too wide after that powerful shot.
As the half time whistle blows, Mendiola FC now on the lead with 1 - nil via penalty before the half time whistle. As we go into the 2nd Half, in the 57 minute, an opportunity for the Cebuanos when Corsame goes for a back pass to John Saldivar redeems himself with a cross after his error to defend his post, Arda Cinkir connects with a header making the equalizer for this match.
Corner Kick given to Cebu FC in the 59th Minute, a good delivery into the box but was cleared out, however Cebu recovers the ball as for Mendiola holding their line to defend, as they pass it to Roberto Corsame Jr. follows it up with a shot, using his right foot as it curves into the left heading into the left side of the post, but was blocked by Michael Asong.
Still 1 - 1, as we go into the 61st Minute and it was Mendiola’s turn to attack. Ace Villanueva steps out into his post, Ashley Flores flicks the ball after that slide tackle from Villanueva making them open to take the lead, Flores with the cross but it was too close to support that connection and an eventual chance if they would double the scoreboard. 11 minutes later, it was the Cebuanos’ turn when Borlongan recovers the ball after that long pass, but got tackled by Alassane Wade.
Borlongan quickly gets up and positions himself within the goal line for a through ball. Patalinghug steps over and Arda Cinkir nails the bottom left corner of the goal post. Makes it double his tally, and to take the lead with 2 goals to 1. Fast forward to stoppage time with an additional 3 minutes before full time, Mart Altinoz makes it triple seconds before the 93rd Minute.
It was a dagger-goal, and almost a long shot from the Turkish midfielder as he positions himself within the line of the penalty area in the right flank. Michael Asong was unable to save that shot hitting the top middle of the net. As the full time whistle blows, Mendiola FC were on the lead via Penalty in favor of Hamed Hajimedi minutes before half-time, and Cebu FC coming from behind as they fire it out with 2 goals from Arda Cinkir, and from Mart Altinoz.
Dynamic Herb Cebu FC, now on their third winning streak with 9 points and a +3 goal difference, they’re now placed at 2nd between table toppers and Copa Champions Kaya FC - Iloilo, and United City FC. Tomorrow, as the tournament continues with only a few more matches, Maharlika Manila FC will take on Dynamic Herb Cebu FC. Kick Off at 5:00pm.

Double Header | Stallions awaken after Kaya's Dominance

The game continues in the hot and windy area of the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite as we approach to the remaining few matches of the tournament for the Copa Paulino Alcántara. Table toppers Kaya FC - Iloilo will take on Stallions Laguna FC. The Lagueños are at the bottom table next to Mendiola FC, and on the brink of losing their title shot with a record of 2 draws against Mendiola and ADT, and one loss against to the recent newcomers Dynamic Herb Cebu FC.
With Kaya's Starting Eleven, Simone Rota will take on the helm as Captain for this match, while Jovin Bedic, Oskari Kekkonen, and Sandro Reyes were called up for the upcoming SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam. Also, newly signed Patrick Arthur will make his first appearance and debut of this tournament. Stallions, on the other hand, Yannick Tuason earned the spot for his team.
As we look into the Copa Standings (image below) and for the previous results from last Monday's (April 25) double header, the Cebuanos are in 4th Place with their 1st win against Stallions, and an automatic win against ADT since the match from last Thursday's match didn't go through and for the young Azkals are about to head over for the SEA Games. ADT on the other hand are now in 3rd Place after the 3 - 1 victory against Maharlika Manila FC. Can Stallions turn the tide to make a spot in the mid-table? Or will Kaya can show their dominance to defend their title?
3 minutes after Kick Off, a free kick was given to Kaya when Jhan-Jhan Meliza goes for a pass, as the ball went into Simone Rota followed it up with a header. On target and an early chance for Kaya, but it went to hit the right post. 6 minutes later, Jhan-Jhan Meliza, again takes on the free kick and goes for a long pass inside the box, Carlyle Mitchell connects through a header making it 1 - nil.
9 minutes later into the 1st Half, counter attack for Kaya and another assist from Meliza as he goes for a long pass to Shirmar Felongco. Great first touch and manages to chip the ball over to Hayeson Pepito, then hits the back of the net as Kaya are on the lead with 2 goals to nil. However, Felongco got a Yellow Card after scoring that goal then takes his shirt off to celebrate.
Never celebrate a goal when you take off your shirt or else, you'll be booked by the official. In the 28th Minute, after 2 assists Jhan-Jhan Meliza makes it triple the lead after a long pass from Carlyle Mitchell. Seconds before the Half-Time whistle and during stoppage time, Daizo Horikoshi, the tournament's top goalscorer wants to make it 4 - nil, however his shot was too powerful and went over the bar after a short pass from Meliza.
As the half time whistle blows, Kaya are on the lead with 3 goals in favor of Carlyle Mitchell, Shirmar Felongco, and Jhan-Jhan Meliza. As we go into the 2nd Half, in the 53rd Minute, it's the Lagueños' turn to pick up the pace when Ybanez goes for the cross from the left flank looking for Griffin McDaniel.
On Target shot, but Kenry Balobo manages to save the ball and hits the deck. A great opportunity for the horsemen however, 7 minutes later as the ball went loose intercepted by Stallions, Abou Sy dashes it in and goes one-on-one with Balobo as Stallions are now on the scoreboard.
10 minutes later, an entry pass from Abou Sy to Belgira as figures it out on how he can pass through Kaya's backline. As he positions himself a few meters away from the goal line looking for Matthew Nierras, and within close range Nierras makes it double. The horsemen awakens and only 20 minutes left before full time as he rally up his squad and prepare for the equalizer.
Seconds after the 71st Minute, Stallions, again with the attack. Ybanez looking for Marwin Angeles followed it up with an attempt to make it even, but Kaya was able to defend that shot and another opportunity for the horsemen to equalize but unable to do so. As for Kaya with only 19 minutes left before full time, they have to dig in and hold their posts while Stallions have to create more opportunities, and chances to pass through Kaya's defensive line.
At stoppage time with additional 3 minutes, Stallions were given a corner kick. As the ball went into the penalty area, Kameron Bolden attempts for a shot, but went to Gabriel Silva as he attempts to make it even but was too wide, then was knocked down after. Both teams are down to 10 men when Carlyle Mitchell and Kameron Bolden were sent off after a heated tension during the final minutes of the match.
As the final whistle blows, Kaya FC Iloilo with 3 goals dominating the 1st half while Stallions Laguna managed to get into the scoreboard with only 2 goals at the 2nd Half. Up next, the brave sons of Mendiola FC 1991 going up against Dynamic Herb Cebu FC.

Double Header | ADT - Maharlika: An evening of heated proportions

The main event from last month's double header and before they embark on their SEA Games campaign in Hanoi, Vietnam, the Azkals Development Team will take on the Manileños of Maharlika FC after a one month break from the tournament. It is a battle for the mid-table spot. With Dynamic Herb Cebu's First Win along with the 3 points, and a +2 goal difference, can ADT or Maharlika keep up the pace in this tournament?
Seconds after Kick Off, Kim Sung-Min attempts for a long shot outside the penalty area and yards away. An early chance for the Maharlikans but luckily Quincy Kammerad was on alert. As tensions are high for Maharlika Manila FC when most of the challenging tackles from ADT were not counted as fouls, as for the gaffer and on the bench exclaimed with the officials.
20 minutes later, ADT is about to attack when Lance Ocampo sprints inside the penalty area follows it up with a shot but went too wide to the left. In the 22nd Minute, Oliver Bias draws first blood after that short pass coming from Jermi Darapan, then 2 minutes later, finally, Lance Ocampo makes it double hitting the left side of the goal post. The young Azkals doesn't stop from there as they want to add another one in the scoreboard. 3 minutes later, Ocampo, recovers the ball after a long pass, then looks for Jermi Darapan as he snipes it in using his left foot, but goes wide to the right.
In the 33rd Minute, ADT again with another attack after a through ball from Bias to Darapan, follows it up with a cross. Dennis Chung, unable to control the first touch as they go with another plan passing the ball to Oliver Bias. As he goes for another goal and to make it 3 - nil. A shot from distance from the left flank, but goes too wide to the right.
As the Half-Time whistle blows, ADT are on the lead with 2 goals. In the 51st Minute of the 2nd Half, another opportunity from Dennis Chung when he goes for the shot, but was too wide going to the right and almost hit the goal post, and 5 minutes later, Oliver Bias again who wants to make it double for his tally. On Target shot but hits the goal post.
In the 65th Minute, Kim Sung-Min makes it into the scoreboard after a cross coming from OJ Clarino from the right flank. After Sung-Min's Goal, Kammerad prevented to give the ball back to Maharlika as tensions are about to heat up from both teams, OJ Clarino and Quincy Kammerad are on a tussle as the players and officials tried to de-escalate the situation. Kammerad was knocked down, as for Clarino gave him an exchange of words then now the players tried to separate them. As a result, Quincy Kammerad and OJ Clarino were both given Red Cards and now down to 10 men for both teams.
6 minutes later, it was ADTs turn to attack with an attempt to make it 3 - 1, but Ven Deck and Fong are on alert to defend their posts. At the 76th Minute, another chance for ADT. On Target but went into the cross bar. Fast forward to the 88th Minute, Dennis Chung finally nails the right side of the net within close range and makes it triple for the young Azkals. As the final whistle blows, the Azkals Development Team declared victors of this main event Monday evening match.

Match Day 9 continues for this year’s edition of the Copa Paulino Alcantara held at the PFF National Training Center in the windy and hot sunny area of Carmona, Cavite. Veterans Stallions Laguna FC will take on Dynamic Herb Cebu FC who recently joined last year’s Copa. The third association football club to represent Cebu after Queen City United of the United Football League Div. 2, and Global Cebu FC.
They performed so well in last year’s Copa and this will be their first match of the tournament with new signings and a new gaffer from a partnership with Hatayspor FC. A football club based in Antioch in the Hatay province of Turkey who recently got promoted in Turkey’s Super Lig and champions of the 2019-20 TFF First League.
First chance for Stallions in the 7th minute of the 1st Half, no one was able to connect that cross making it 1 - nil however it was cleared out into the danger area on Cebu’s side. 6 minutes later, Kainoa Bailey with a long shot effort but was blocked by Ace Villanueva. In the 23rd Minute, Cebu had the possession, but was intercepted by Oscar Delgado as he fires away within the penalty line, but was blocked by Villanueva.
Penalty was given to Cebu FC in the 32nd Minute when Chima Uzoka attempts for the header inside the goal area but was pushed down by Kainoa Bailey. Uzoka takes the penalty, blocked by Pepito, and Uzoka surges forward for the second chance within close range hitting the back of the net making it 1 - nil in favor of the Cebuanos.
13 minutes had passed after the penalty from Uzoka, the Laguenos tried to create multiple chances while the Cebuanos tried to find and assess their areas to pass through Stallions’ back line. As the half time whistle blows, Cebu FC in full control with one goal via penalty in favor of Chima Uzoka.
A Yellow Card was given to Chima Uzoka in the 55th Minute when he tried to recover the ball at the sidelines, however he kicked it towards the Stallions’ bench. While in the 63rd Minute, a one-two pass from Tuazon to Peña as he fires outside the penalty area. Great shot, but was off target and a few inches away from the goal post.
3 minutes later as Stallions tried to go for another chance to equalize, Oscar Delgado with the cross to Griffin McDaniel unable to control the touch however, Yannick Tuazon recovers but was cleared away by Chima Uzoka. While Cebu FC on the counter attack, Roberto Corsame Jr. sprints to the ball followed by a long shot effort but was too wide on that shot to double the lead in the 2nd Half.
A minute later, it was Stallions’ turn and a great effort from Oscar Delgado as he attempts for a long range shot but the ball went too wide to the right, almost hitting the goal post. Roberto Corsame Jr., finally nails the second goal at stoppage time seconds before the 91st Minute, when Gadia sprints in the left flanks spotting him were 2 defenders until he founds Corsame inside the penalty area, then positions near within the line of the goal area. At close range, he nails the bottom right corner of the goal post.
As the full time whistle blows, a well deserved victory for the Cebuanos with 2 goals and grabbing the 3 points after a few tensions while Stallions on their first loss of the tournament, frustrated but hoping they will get back on track in their remaining matches next month. Next up, the Azkals Development Team against their other adversary during the PFL League 2 years ago, the Manileños of Maharlika Manila FC.

Last Wednesday’s Double Header for the continuation of the Copa Paulino Alcantara was an intense first match, and relentless display of finesse for the Copa Champions. Will the brave sons of Mendiola FC or the Lagueños grab their first win? Can the young Azkals redeem themselves after their last match for the title against Kaya?

Scoreless 15 minutes in the first half of the match, until there’s a sign of life for the Laguenos. Huge space for Delgado in the right flank, looks for Bedia followed up with a shot but goes wide and off target. 3 minutes later, it was Mendiola’s turn with the attack. Suba on the left flank goes for the cross looking for Junior, follows it up with a shot but is cleared away by Nierras.
In the 23rd Minute, a long pass to Appiah with the attack but surrounded by Stallions’ back line then goes for the strike, but off target. 2 minutes later with the attack again by Mendiola after a long pass then followed up with a short pass to Alassane Wade. Wade, a few meters away, goes for the shot but is blocked by Nierras.
Good defending by Matthew Nierras, as the brave sons tried to make it into the scoreboard as Stallions were about to hold their posts in the remaining minutes of the 1st half. In the 28th Minute, another long pass to Appiah, one on one with Nierras within the penalty line but goes off target with his shot. No one conceded a goal yet within the remaining minutes, interception after interception and it was Stallions turn with the attack.
Seconds after Half Time, Kainoa Bailey with the cross from the right flank, good touch followed up with a short pass to Peña, but was cleared away by Wade. Both teams haven’t gone into the scoreboard as we go into the 2nd Half, in the 76th Minute. Appiah again takes the shot in the right flank, but it goes wide and off target. 2 minutes later, a corner was given to Stallions. Beautiful corner from Bailey looking for support in the middle within close range.
However, the shot was punched out by Michael Asong and Stallions again with another corner. The corner kick was cleared out, as both teams struggled to score before the full time whistle. In the 88th Minute, Junior Sam intercepted the ball from Darwin Regala followed up with a cross to Appiah fired yards away but was off target.
At stoppage time, a chance now for Stallions in the 91st Minute when Marwin Angeles fires from the left flank of the penalty area, on target but the ball went to the goal post, Yannick Tuazon recovers with another shot but blocked by Alassane Wade. As the full time whistle blows, both teams will share a point and another draw in their tally. Since this will be Stallions’ 2nd draw, can Mendiola FC keep up their peers in their upcoming matches before the elimination round?

The Copa Champions Kaya FC - Iloilo and the Azkals Development Team met again after a year after their last match from last year’s Copa. Can ADT go for another win to redeem themselves from last year’s match? Or will Kaya dominate this match?
In the 5th Minute, Horikoshi with an attempt on the left flank inside the penalty area but goes too wide to the right. 6 minutes later, Horikoshi outside the penalty box at the middle for a long shot effort, but went to Jovin Bedic. Within close range, Bedic goes for the shot but blocked by Quincy Kammerad. 4 minutes later, Meliza goes with the cross, blocked by ADT however Mendy recovers the ball but goes for the shot but too wide and off target.
It was ADT’s turn to attack in the 16th Minute when Matt Alegre went for a long pass to Dennis Chung, great control with the ball as he positioned himself for the shot outside the penalty area. On Target but saved by Kenry Balobo. 3 minutes later, it was Kaya’s turn with the attack, Bedic looks for Mendy with a one-two touch, and Robert Lopez Mendy nailed the 1st goal, hitting the top right corner within close range inside the penalty area.
Carlyle Mitchell goes for the 2nd goal in the 23rd Minute after a cross coming from Daizo Horikoshi from the left flank. In the 29th Minute, Kaya FC - Iloilo is now taking control of the game, when Mendy goes for his 2nd goal after a short pass from Horikoshi, good control as Mendy turned around followed up with a short shot within the goal line. Kammerad didn’t see that coming and the score was 3 - nil.
In the 32nd Minute, Kaya FC, still hungry for goals when Meliza with a lob pass to Horikoshi unable to control the shot, as Bedic ran to recover the ball followed it up with a shot aiming the bottom left corner but was blocked by Kammerad. In the 38th Minute, it is the young Azkals’ turn to attack, Francis Tacardon passes to Dennis Chung. Chung was surrounded by 2 defenders in the right flank as he went for the shot but was blocked by Simone Rota.
At Half Time, Kaya FC - Iloilo were in full control with 3 goals. 2 from Robert Lopez Mendy, and from Carlyle Mitchell while ADT on the other hand, had great chances from Dennis Chung. As we go into the 2nd Half. In the 76th Minute, another chance from ADT in the left flank. Oliver Bias passes on to Dennis Chung, as he goes for another shot but is saved by Kenry Balobo.
2 minutes later, it is Kaya’s turn when Jesse Curran goes for the cross looking for Horikoshi with an attempt as he leaped for a header shot aiming the left part of the goal post but goes too wide and off target. In the 79th Minute, Horikoshi makes it 4 - nil after a one-on-one with Quincy Kammeraad nailing the bottom right corner.
As the full time whistle blows, Kaya FC - Iloilo with a formidable display of 4 goals from Robert Lopez Mendy, Carlyle Mitchell, and from Daizo Horikoshi in the 79th Minute making his 3rd goal within the tournament. As we look into the Copa Standings (image below), Kaya FC now on top of the table with 10 points, followed by United City FC which they’re in Thailand for their AFC Cup campaign with 8 points. At the mid-table we have ADT in 3rd place with 4 points while Mendiola is in 2nd of the bottom table.

Now that the 1st match has concluded, the main event for last Monday’s double header, as the Azkals Development Team will take on the club’s first appearance and their first match of the tournament, the Lagueños of Stallions Laguna FC. Stallions, on the other hand has fresh new signings as well and a few veterans who continue to play for the club. Will ADT or Stallions get their first win?
4 minutes into the first half, a chance for ADT and a free kick is given, Bias with a long shot attempt but Pepito manages to catch it but the ball went out of play. Corner for ADT in the 5th Minute, a short corner pass followed up with the cross but was cleared away. As both teams are under pressure who will draw first blood. Leo Nogueira was given a Yellow Card in the 12th Minute after colliding with Jaime Rosquillo.
17 minutes have already passed and no one has made it into the scoreboard. As we approach the 18th Minute, Stallions regained possession, however intercepted by ADT with the attack. As ADT is going for the attack, but Nierras clears the ball as they go for a counter attack.
Limbo with a through ball looking for Sy however was blocked by Rosquillo. It was a loose ball and a miscommunication from the ADT defenders. Leo Nogueira nails the opening goal in the 19th Minute. In the 23rd Minute, a close chance for the young Azkals after that corner kick but it was off target. 2 minutes later, Stallions wants to go for another goal and a close chance when a cross comes from the right flank, and Abou Sy tries to go for a header but was cleared outside.
As the half time whistle blows, the Lagueños are on the lead with one goal. ADT, on the other hand have to turn the tide for the last 45 minutes. Before the 2nd Half kicks off, changes were made for ADT. Jermi Darapan is replaced by Leo Maquiling, and Lance Ocampo replaced by Martini Rey. A minute later, almost an opportunity for ADT. Oliver Bias fires in the penalty area. On Target but the ball went hitting the top crossbar.
In the 56th Minute, Stallions on the attack, good lob pass inside the penalty box, however Bedia couldn't control it with the first touch. Until it was cleared away. Corner Kick will be given to Stallion, but headed away and another one will be given at the 57th Minute as Silva tries to regain the possession, however got pushed down by Jayvee Kallukaran. Leo Nogueira takes the Free Kick in the 58th Minute, and Baley tries to connect. Powerful pass from Nogueira, but Baley tries to keep the ball in play sending him back to the signage sponsors.
65 minutes later and the score is still 1 - nil, another opportunity by ADT when Oliver Bias connects it after a cross coming from the right flank, but saved by Pepito. In the 70th Minute, Leo Nogueira wants to add another one in his account with a long shot effort, however saved by Mangaoang. 3 minutes later, Gabriel Silva testing out the right flank of ADT but cleared away for a corner kick.
It was ADT's turn to attack, and a Yellow Card was given to Miguel De Mesa after that heavy push to Lance Ocampo. 14 minutes before Full Time, a Free Kick was given to ADT, good aim at the left goal post, headed away but it was a poor clearance, Tobias recovers the ball as he aims for the top left corner, but was an off target. After Tobias' shot, he was tackled down by Bailey as Rosquillo and Woods running towards to Bayley turning into a heated situation.
Other players including the officials tried to de-escalate the situation while Coach Nierras yelling at the sides to Bailey telling him to cool himself down and only focus on the game. Jaime Rosquillo and Kainoa Bailey were given Yellow Cards after that tussle in the 77th Minute
In the 85th Minute, a great pass from Marc Tobias looking for Dennis Chung however got pushed down by Griffin McDaniel, who was given a Yellow Card and possibly to be sent out in the pitch. Instead, a free kick was given to ADT. Changes for Stallion Laguna, Dimitri Limbo was replaced by Yannick Tuason in the 86th Minute.
3 minutes before full time, as Scott Woods takes on the free kick outside the penalty area from the right flank, as Scott takes on the shot and with that sky rocket shot using his left foot hitting the left side of the goal post. It was a fantastic free kick, and an equalizer goal for the young Azkals.
As we go into Full Time, Stallion Laguna and ADT will share a point. First Draw for both teams and as we look into the Copa Standings (image above), Kaya FC - Iloilo remained in 2nd Place with 7 points while Mendiola has to work on their way up in their next matches.
Next Week on Wednesday (April 20), and it will be another double header match. Stallions Laguna FC, after a one week break will take on Mendiola FC 1991 at 4:00pm. While ADT will be squaring off again with their adversary from last year's tournament, the Copa Champions Kaya FC - Iloilo at 7:15pm.

The moment I saw the short clips on my news feed on Facebook, I felt dismayed on their answers. I'm not the only one who felt disappointed, everyone around including you who watched these clips felt the same thing as I am, but as I go in a deep dive of searching for more answers, here's the full video below separated into 2 parts.

This happened on a reality TV series called Pinoy Big Brother. Based on a Dutch reality competition in 1999, and over 62 countries (including the Philippines) and it is still on the air while ABS-CBN is no longer active since 2020 when their franchise was not passed by the Philippine Senate, and the House of Representatives making one of the biggest TV networks in the Philippines to shut down in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over the last 2 decades, Pinoy Big Brother aired over 10 seasons, and with their current season called Kumunity Season 10 where the current housemates are teenagers from students to influencers have to prove their worth on staying at the big house. Throughout the video clips above is a challenge for the housemates to test out their history knowledge if they still remember our Filipino roots.
The challenge was 2 representatives from both teams have to stand above a pre-inflated balloon on top of their heads, and the questions are based in our Filipino History. From historical events to individuals who are involved in making this country sovereign, including historical landmarks.
Whoever gets the correct answer gains a point, while the other one who didn't get the correct answer, the balloon above on their heads will inflate through a tube. If they didn't get the correct answer again, the punishment? The balloon will pop above on their head and will be spilled with milk.
I was quite impressed on Luke that he remembers his history, while for the other housemates? I'm ashamed of their answers. The one that triggered me the most? Her answer was Majoha. I think she based it on the priest's first names instead of their last names (Mariano Gomez - Ma; Jose Burgos - Jo, and Jacinto Zamora - Ha), but the correct answer to that is GomBurZa. Because of this, memes are now scattered around social media, even a historical page gave the definition of the word Majoha (picture below).
Yes, they've given incorrect answers but they managed to redeemed themselves. This is the result when you remove a curriculum or a subject to our educational system. It's been 8 years when the Department of Education decided to remove Filipino History since a overhaul needs to be done in our educational system.
From 4 years in High School to 6 years (4 years from 1st to 4th Year, then Grade 7 to 10, and Senior High from Grade 11 to 12). It is one of my favorite subjects back then as I've learned of what we truly are as Filipinos. Most of it were discussed in a classroom setting, others I've learned it from other sources I can find outside from school.
I'm not picking a side here. These are my thoughts and reactions after watching these clips. Yes, the education system needs to be blamed why they removed it in the first place without a concrete explanation. Aside the system, everyone around is using social media these days, and it is hard for me to say this but, Social Media killed today's generation. Why? From spending their time of creating content to showcase their talent, to use their influence of participating challenges that are either risky or can be dangerous that could endanger their lives.
Luckily, I was able to finish my studies, even you and everyone around us finished studying before they made reforms in the educational system. In the end, we can still make a difference. To the parents, I know you're working hard for your children's future to give them good quality education. Make sure to check them time to time if they really learned something at school.
To the new generation, apply discipline to your lives. Move outside of your box once your mind tells something and you're curious, then search for sources how this and that happened. More importantly, let's use our voices to be heard that Filipino History should be back in their curriculum so that the new generation of Filipinos will learn more about our roots.

Double Header | Kaya 1 - Mendiola nil

The 1st Double Header Match last Monday at the PFF National Training Center for the Copa Paulino Alcantara between the brave sons of Mendiola FC 1991, against the Copa Champions Kaya FC - Iloilo.
Mendiola FC with 2 losses against Maharlika, ADT, and a draw against United City FC which they’re now at the bottom table, while Kaya FC - Iloilo in 2nd place. Will it be a First Win for Mendiola? Or will Kaya keep on the pressure to defend their title?
No changes were made in Mendiola’s first eleven, however on the other side for Kaya FC, it will be Jesse Curran’s Copa Debut who was previously called up for the Azkals during the FAS Tri-Nations Series in Singapore. Seconds after Kick-Off, the ball was intercepted by Jhan-Jhan Meliza as he took the shot testing out Michael Asong.
On Target inside the penalty area, but saved and it was their turn for the counter attack. Hamed Hajimedi intercepts passes to Sam Junior, as he goes for a lob pass looking for Altiche, but was deflected by Diano.
A Free Kick on the 4th Minute was given to Mendiola, but headed away by Mitchell. As Kaya tries to pass Mendiola’s defensive line, Jovin Bedic on the right flank looking for Robert Lopez Mendy but was cleared out by Alassane Wade and a corner kick will be given to Kaya. Horikoshi takes on the corner, a header attempt inside the penalty area but the shot was too wide.
It is the brave sons of Mendiola’s turn seconds after the 8th Minute, Sam with a great pass to Altiche as he attempts for the opening goal, it was just a few meters away within the goal area on the left flank. On Target, but the ball hit the crossbar. Flores recovers the ball but is surrounded by 2 Kaya Defenders.
Kaya intercepts as Mendy sprints with the attack, then Wade tries to block him. A Yellow Card was given to Alassane Wade in the 8th Minute after blocking Robert Lopez Mendy. As for the 1st 10 minutes of the 1st Half, it was scoreless as Kaya maintains possession when Curran goes for the cross, and a corner will be given to Kaya on the 15th Minute, Menzi connects it with a header but it was off target.
2 minutes later, Horikoshi attempts with the cross but was well defended by Wade. Kaya was given another corner, but the ball went too wide. Mendy with the attempt on the right flank, yards outside the penalty area, but the ball doesn’t pass through to Asong. In the 23rd Minute, a Free Kick was given to Kaya after a tussle from Menzi and Flores when he pushed Menzi and tried to intercept the ball.
In the 24th Minute after the free kick, it was a loose ball but Horikoshi recovered the ball yards away, on target aiming for the top right corner but Asong, again with a tremendous save. Kaya FC, with their 4th corner of the match. Almost a near chance for the boys in Yellow, and another save from Asong which they’ll be given another corner. 5 corner kicks later, Asong was able to read the ball’s trajectory.
A tough challenge from the brave keeper of Mendiola, but went to a collision with 2 players in Yellow shirts. Another Yellow Card will be given to Ashley Flores in the 28th Minute after that challenge with Audie Menzi. Still scoreless as we enter the 32nd Minute, and Kaya’s 6th Corner Kick as they attempt for the opener but Mendiola was well defended from their posts. As we approach the last minutes of the 1st Half, after 8 corner kicks as Kaya tries with the opening goal, Simone Rota connects with a header but was off target in the 42nd Minute.
As the half time whistle blows, a scoreless first half. Kaya with a lot of chances and opportunities, shot attempts outside and inside the box while Mendiola with the pressure on how they can pass through Kaya’s defensive line, and Asong keeping up his A-game after numerous saves.
56th Minute in the 2nd Half, counter attack for the brave sons when Flores with a lob pass looking for Wade. It was a strong pass and almost a good touch from Wade, however it was cleared out by Carlyle Mitchell. In the 61st Minute, Jhan-Jhan Meliza inside the penalty arc after a pass from Horikoshi with a powerful shot. Almost a goal but it went over the bar.
Changes were made for both teams, as Jovin Bedic was replaced by Arnel Amita, and Aaron Altiche was replaced by Jerome Marzan in the 63rd Minute. In the 69th Minute, finally, a goal from Jhan-Jhan Meliza when Mendiola tries to clear the ball away and Horikoshi recovers followed up with an on-target attempt, saved by Asong then Meliza just a few meters away and finds the back of the net.
9 minutes before the final whistle, a Yellow Card was given to Robert Lopez Mendy after he was pushed down by Wade on the left flank. Final changes for Kaya, Sandro Reyes coming in for Ryo Fuji. In the 85th Minute, a Free Kick for Mendiola FC. Hamed Hajimedi on target but saved by Zach Banzon. Kaya created opportunities and lots of chances, however the brave sons of Mendiola FC tried to hold their lines and even tried to pass through Kaya’s back line.
As the full time whistles, Kaya grabbed the 3 points in favor of Jhan-Jhan Meliza. Lots of opportunities and chances for the boys in yellow, however a good result as they dominate the first match of last Monday’s double header. Up next, the young Azkals will take on the Lagueños with their 1st appearance and their 1st match of the tournament.

Both teams played in wet conditions since it was raining at the start of the 1st Half. It was scoreless in the first 10 minutes, but there were signs of life and multiple chances on the 6th and 8th minute but was cleared away inside the penalty area.
Quinley Quezada who celebrates her 25th Birthday with the opening goal in the 13th Minute, a great quality finish hitting the bottom right corner. 3 minutes later, Anicka Castañeda makes it 2 goals to nil after a cross coming from Malea Cesar from the right flank, then connects it with a header.
Dominique Randle goes for the 3rd Goal in the 34th Minute when Fiji tries to defend their posts, however Randle within close range finds the back of the net. 3 goals to nil, the Philippines are now on the lead as we reach the 39th Minute, Tahnai Annis with the 4th Goal after a through ball from the left flank.
3 minutes later, Annis makes it 5 - nil, and her 2nd Goal just yards within the penalty area in the left flank hitting the top right corner, and after the Half Time whistle, Castañeda with her 2nd Goal after multiple attempts from Annis but saved and great goalkeeping skills from Anaseini Maucuna, then Castañeda finds the opening making it 6 - nil.
In the 2nd Half, with 6 goals as the Filipinas are in great form after 2 months. Fiji makes it into the scoreboard with 2 goals as their consolation goal. In the 49th Minute after a corner kick, Olivia McDaniel tries to punch the ball away but it was a rebound, and Cema Nasau nails it within the goal area hitting the top middle of the net.
In the 62nd Minute, Alizza Hussein goes one on one with Olivia McDaniel, but Olivia manages and tries to save it, but the ball reached the goal line hitting the bottom right corner.
11 minutes before Full Time, the birthday celebrant Quinley Quezada with her 2nd Goal makes it 7 goals to 2, after the interception she position herself in the penalty arc hitting the bottom left corner. As the Full Time whistle blows, Philippines with 7 goals over 2 goals to Fiji.

Mendiola FC Digs In, United City still Dominant

After 2 matches, Mendiola FC now have 2 losses against Maharlika Manila and the Azkals Development Team, while United City FC is dominating the tournament. With 2 wins against Maharlika, ADT, and a draw against their adversary Kaya FC - Iloilo. Can Mendiola FC 1991 redeem themselves, or will United City show their dominance through this tournament?
A chance for Mendiola in the first minute of the 1st half when Junior Sam went for the cross on the right flank looking for Flores, but cleared out by Forrosuelo. 4 minutes later, United City with the chance for the opener, when Juraboev goes for a long pass to Lyngbo then a quick pass to Hartmann. A free kick will be given to the attacking side after a tackle from Hamed Hajimedi. Hartmann goes for the kick, unable to hit the back of the net.
3 minutes as we’re into the middle of the 8th Minute when Flores intercepts the possession, passes to Junior Sam, enters the penalty area surrounded by 2 United City Defenders, Forrosuelo tries to go for the tackle inside the box. A penalty kick was given to Mendiola FC. Ashley Flores takes the penalty, great shot but it was off target as he tries to go for the top right corner of the goal post.
In the 10th Minute, it was United City’s turn with the attack when Hartmann with the cross looking for Ouano, but was cleared away from the penalty area. Hamed went for the free kick in the 12th Minute as the ball went to the penalty area, but cleared away by Robertson, and De La Torre with a good touch and a long shot effort but went wide to the left.
A minute later, Curt Dizon looking for Daniels and another chance for United City, Asong tried to recover the ball but was cleared away and great defending from Mendiola FC. Seconds later, United City intercepts with another attack as Kenshiro Daniels with a lob pass to Mark Hartmann, and a long shot effort yards away but saved by Michael Asong, as United City was given a corner kick.
The ball was cleared away as United City again attempted to pass through the Mendiola defensive line. Same thing as goes for Mendiola FC, and almost a chance for the men in Red seconds after the 18th Minute. A counter-attack when they intercept the ball, and Ashley Flores rushing in but Lyngbo recovers the ball to prevent the corner kick for Mendiola.
It’s been 20 minutes since then, and still scoreless in the first half. Asong clears the ball after that corner kick from United City FC in the 21st Minute. 4 minutes later, Mike Ott with a through ball looking for Mark Hartmann, that pass was too powerful to control. Michael Asong recovers the ball with great goalkeeping instincts. Seconds later, Junior Sam intercepts the ball and passes to Flores but was called Offside. An almost opportunity for the men in Red.
Third corner for United City FC in the 25th Minute, but was headed away by Sam. Juraboev recovers and goes for another attack, with a lob pass looking for Hartmann and another strike outside the penalty area within the penalty line on the left flank, but saved by Asong. Seconds later, it's Mendiola’s turn to attack as Sam intercepts the ball and with a long shot effort but hits the side net.
5 minutes later, Junior Sam again as Mendiola’s turn to make it 1 - nil, but his shot inside the penalty area on the right went wide. In the 32nd Minute, it is United City’s turn when Mike Ott goes for the cross into the right flank, Juraboev tries to recover but was cleared away by Alassane Wade, and Mendiola’s turn again with the attack but was Offside seconds after the 33rd Minute.
Hamed tries to intercept the ball, however a Yellow Card was given to Kenshiro Daniels after a not-so clean tackle to Hamed hitting his left knee in the 35th Minute. 36 minutes have passed, and the score is still nil - nil. Minutes later, Wade clears the ball, however Dizon recovers with the attempt and a shot from distance inside the penalty area seconds after the 41st Minute.
42 minutes have passed the first half, as the tension of this match is going on high heat, Yellow Cards were given to Amirbek Juraboev and Aaron Altiche after their tussle. In the 43rd Minute, United City goes for another attack, Ouano with a through ball looking for Mike Ott. Asong attempted to recover, but went loose and on high alert for Mendiola’s keeper as he was able to save it.
At stoppage time, United City with another attack when Hartmann with a cross, Daniels connects with the shot but was blocked by Cristal and Asong recovers. As the half-time whistle blows, an intense first half and almost a tussle minutes before the whistle as officials tried to de-escalate the situation.
As the 2nd Half kicks off, in the 48th Minute Mike Ott with a lob pass but was headed away but the ball went to Kenshiro Daniels with the shot, but saved by Asong. Another chance for United City, Dizon surrounded with 2 Mendiola Defenders on the left flank, but was challenged with a nasty tackle.
6 minutes later, a chance from Mendiola FC. Junior Sam with another interception and a short pass to Flores looking for Altiche, passes back to Sam and attempts with the shot, but is saved by Silva. Seconds later, Mike Ott with a long shot effort as he is testing Asong but saved by the keeper. Substitution in the 55th Minute for Mendiola FC, Stephen Appiah is replaced by Aaron Altiche.
Seconds after the 57th Minute, United City with the attack as Lyngbo goes for the cross, and Juraboev attempts for a header shot but great defending from Mendiola FC. Another attempt from Mike Ott tested Michael Asong in the 59th Minute.
Seconds after the 63rd Minute, United City had another chance when Lyngbo went for a cross but was cleared away by the men in Red. Changes were made on the side of United City, Curt Dizon now replaced by Pocholo Bugas, and Ivan Ouano replaced by Andreas Esswein in the 63rd Minute.
Counter attack for Mendiola FC in the 64th Minute as Sam attempts with a one-touch shot, but Silva blocked it, however intercepted by Appiah as he tries for a cross looking for Sam, but the assistant referee calls for an Offside. A minute later, a foul was called on Flores after a tussle with Daniels and a free kick was given to United City FC. Hartmann, again, takes the kick as he scans the penalty area, then takes the shot however it hits the left post. Sam with a long shot in the 67th Minute, on target but deflected by Silva.
Changes were made on both teams in the 68th Minute. Dean Ebarle replaced Jordan Jarvis after the paramedics sent him off, Mariano Suba Jr. replacing Jimson Cristal, and Jerome Marzan replacing Franco De La Torre. Now in the 70th Minute, Suba in just seconds was tackled by Ebarle but quickly recovered after that challenge.
A corner was given to Mendiola FC, a long pass to Suba with the touch followed by a sky rocket shot seconds after the 72nd Minute, however it was over the bar. Seconds after the 73rd Minute, United City had another chance when Mike Ott intercepted the ball, recovered by Juraboev with a lob pass to the middle of the penalty area, but easily defended by Mendiola FC. Hartmann recovers again and goes for the shot with his weak foot, but it went wide to the left.
Mendiola FC is about to dig in at their posts 17 minutes before the final whistle, and United City with a lot of opportunities and chances as they figure out how they can score against the brave sons of Mendiola. Mendiola FC will make their final changes in the 77th Minute, Ashley Flores replaced by Eric Manlapas, however the captain’s armband is now given to Hamed Hajimedi, and Louie Polinag replacing Sam Junior.
6 minutes before the whistle, a chance for Mendiola FC when Hajimedi intercepted the ball followed by a through pass to Stephen Appiah but a strong challenge from Forrosuelo. And the bench on Mendiola’s side exclaimed that it should be called a foul. In the 86th Minute, United City again with another attack, Hartmann with the ball but intercepted by Mendiola. Hamed with a through pass to Appiah.
Appiah tests out Forrosuelo, but Juraboev tries to intercept it, however Suba manages to recover it for another attack, but Ebarle with the interception. 2 minutes before full time, Juraboev with a long pass to the middle area, intercepted by the brave men in Red. Hartmann looking for Daniels yards outside with the shot, but was over the bar.
As we enter stoppage time, with an additional 5 minutes as both teams are still scoreless, Hartmann again with an attempt to make it into the scoreboard, but saved by Asong. A corner was given to United City in the 92nd Minute, but headed away and the ball is still alive under United City’s possession.
A cross from the right flank, but was able to save the ball by Asong then bumps with Lyngbo. Lyngbo, however, tries to exchange heated tension with Asong, but the men in red try to de-escalate the situation. As the final whistle blows, both teams will share a point. A clean sheet for Mendiola FC 1991, the brave sons held their lines throughout the match while United City remained dominant on top with 8 points.
Now that United City will fly to Thailand for the AFC Champions League, next week on Monday, it will be a double header match. Mendiola FC 1991, again will take on Stallions Laguna FC and this will be the Lagueño’s first match of the tournament at 4:00pm. Then, the Copa Champions Kaya FC - Iloilo will square off again with the Azkals Development Team at 7:15pm.

Match Day 5 is underway at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite for the Copa Paulino Alcántara. As the Azkals Development Team kicked off their campaign on a high note against Mendiola FC 1991 last Monday, while United City FC with a win against Maharlika and a Draw against Kaya FC are on top of the table as we saw their newest players from Alan Robertson, Ricardo Sendra, and Ivan Ouano who are now on the scoreboard.
Anthony Pinthus is back in the Starting Eleven after that suspension against Maharlika Manila FC 2 weeks ago. At the first 10 minutes of the 1st Half, it was scoreless until there's a sign of chance for United City FC when Minegishi curves the ball from the left flank within the line of the penalty area, but the ball went above the bar on the top right corner.
2 minutes later, Ricardo Sendra finds the back of the net, and United City drew first blood after a Corner Kick on the 12th Minute coming from Kenshiro Daniels. ADT attempts to go for an equalizer, but it was not good after taking the Free Kick in the 14th Minute. In the 20th Minute, Dean Ebarle in the left flank goes for the cross looking for Mike Ott, but surrounded with 2 defenders and in a dangerous area as he attempts to make it 2 goals but was saved by Kyle Bayabos.
A minute later, the score is now 2 - nil in favor of Amirbek Juraboev. It was a rocket shot and outside the penalty area hitting the top left corner of the net. Bayabos was able to read the ball's trajectory, but unable to save and stop that shot. It was ADT's turn and created multiple chances to turn the tide of this match.
In the 28th Minute, after a loose ball possession by Ricardo Sendra, Martini Rey intercepts the ball and a long shot effort however it was catched by Anthony Pinthus and it is very easy for him to get the ball. 8 minutes later, another chance for ADT as Dennis Chung goes for a through ball looking for Martini Rey, great defence from United City as the ball rebounds to Jermi Darapan on the left as he attempts to take the shot, however got blocked by Simen Lyngbø.
United City FC are on the lead with 2 goals from Ricardo Sendra, and Amirbek Juraboev. As the 2nd Half starts, both teams are kicking it into high gear from chances and opportunities, corner to corner, foul after foul, however ADT got a Yellow Card to Elijah Liao after a tussle with one of the players. Then another Yellow Card for United City to Adam Tull.
In the 54th Minute, a corner for United City when Mark Hartmann takes the Corner Kick on the left flank, as they won't stop getting more goals until it was a header pass, one touch pass looking for support in the middle but was saved by Kyle Bayabos.
A free kick was given to United City outside of the penalty area in the 71st Minute. As Hartmann attempts to make the shot, but was blocked by Bayabos, seconds away after the 72nd, Ivan Ouano within close range as he hits the bottom right corner of the net making the score 3 - nil for United City.
With only a few minutes before the final whistle, ADT is about to dig in and hold their line to defend their posts ensuring their opponents can no longer score. Scott Woods was sent off by paramedics 5 minutes after the 2nd Half. A minute after the final whistle, Kenshiro Daniels with his first goal for United City and making it 4 - nil after a through ball from Curt Dizon on the left.
As the final whistle blows, United City FC remains on top with 7 points, now with 2 wins and 1 draw with 4 additional goals leading with a +8 goal difference, and the ADT's first loss of this tournament. The final score 4 - nil in favor of United City FC and goals from Ricardo Sendra, Amirbek Juraboev, Ivan Ouano, and Kenshiro Daniels.

The main event of Match Day 4 from last Monday’s double header, it is a battle of the 2 most well known football clubs in Filipino Football, after numerous meetings from the League their paths crossed again as Kaya FC - Iloilo squares off with United City FC. With United City’s victory against Maharlika Manila, can they grab another 3 points or will Kaya turn over the tide.
At the start of the first half, an Offside was called on Kaya’s side as they tried to go with the offense. A free kick was given to Kaya in the 2nd Minute, when Jovin Bedic went forward but got tumbled by Ricardo Sendra. Horikoshi took the kick but went to the defender’s legs. A minute later, Arboleda ran in the right flank but Minegishi went for a clean tackle and Kaya was given a Corner Kick.
In the 6th Minute, it was United City’s turn for the offense. Minegishi with a lob pass, it was a good pass but the header went off target. 6 minutes later, Kaya on the attack when a cross went too high, but the ball was still alive as Kaya goes for the chance and Mendy appeals for a Hand ball, but the official says play on.
As both teams contested with the ball, in the 25th Minute a free kick was given after a tussle on the right flank between Arboleda and Ebarle. Horikoshi again takes the Free Kick as he scans the penalty area on where to pass it to. The ball was cleared away, however it went to Meliza with the attempt but went off target.
2 minutes later, it was United City’s turn when Dizon on the right flank attempts either do a cross or strike in the penalty area surrounded with 3 Kaya defenders, but he passed it back as Juraboev goes for a long pass to the penalty area, but was cleared away for a corner. Juraboev takes the corner in the left flank, but headed away for another corner for United City FC.
Juraboev with a short pass, but they attempt to go for a score and Kaya with a good defense as they go for a Goal Kick. Minutes go by in the 34th Minute, Banzon tries to clear the ball away from the penalty area after a pass from Rota, Mike Ott swivels for the shot finding the back of the net, making it 1 - nil for United City FC.
A minute later, Robertson was pushed down by Mendy as the official tried to de-escalate the situation. He was sent to the sides for a few minutes for a quick treatment, then went back to the pitch. In the 43rd Minute, a chance now for Kaya for the equalizer. Horikoshi in the left flank, goes for the cross looking for Mendy, but Silva knocks the ball away from his post.
Seconds later, Horikoshi with the shot as it went to the back of the net, but was called Offside. The goal doesn’t count, and Kaya is about to celebrate for the equalizer. A good opportunity for Kaya during stoppage time after a corner for Kaya. Jovin Bedic goes for the shot, but cleared away from Robinson. As the half-time whistle blows, United City FC are on the lead with 1 - nil.
2nd Half is under way expecting there would be more tactical offense and defense from both teams. In the 50th Minute, a chance for United City FC. Goalscorer Mike Ott in the right flank goes for the cross looking for Ivan Ouano as he takes the shot, but is stopped by Zach Banzon. 5 minutes later, United City again with the offense but intercepted by Kaya.
Horikoshi, at last, with the equalizer in the 55th Minute after a long pass from Ryo Fuji. Horikoshi in the left flank at the penalty area as he went for the shot, went through at the bottom right corner. The scoreline is now at all 1.
Changes were made for United City in the 59th Minute, as Kenshiro Daniels, the club’s newest signing, is playing against his former club replacing Ivan Ouano. A minute later, a yellow was given to Jovin Bedic after a tough challenge with Juraboev. 6 minutes later, a chance for United City when Sendra goes for a short pass looking for Dizon inside the right flank at the penalty area with a wide range of space, goes for the shot but saved by Banzon.
Kaya in the 70th Minute, made changes as Fitch Arboleda replaced Shirmar Felongco, and Joaquin Melliza replaced by Sandro Reyes. United City also made a change as Jordan Jarvis was replaced by Adam Tull. In the 74th Minute, another chance for Kaya when Bedic inside the penalty area with a short pass to Horikoshi, went for another one to add his tally, but got tackled by Tull. So, Tull was given a Yellow Card after tackling Horikoshi inside the penalty area.
Instead of a penalty, a corner is given to Kaya seconds away in the 75th Minute. Daizo took the corner, but Silva was able to catch it and it was United City’s turn for the offense. Another opportunity for Kaya, when an interception was made, a strong pass as Mendy tries to catch the ball ensuring it doesn’t go through the line. Mendy looking for Amita as he took the shot but the ball went to hit Robertson’s back side.
Corner given to Kaya on the 77th Minute, good attempts from Rota and Felongco, but the shot went wide and off target. However, another change made for Kaya, Ryo Fuji is now replaced by Audie Menzi and still he’s receiving medical treatment. In the 83rd Minute, a good chance from Mendy in the right flank but Silva was able to read the ball with a great save, and was cleared away by Robertson. Sandro tried it again, but was saved by Silva.
Minutes before full time, both teams made their final changes. For Kaya, Jovin Bedic gives the captain’s armband to Robert Lopez Mendy, and is now replaced by Eric Giganto. for United City FC, Curt Dizon replaced by Paolo Salenga. Kaya and United tried to get another goal in the last minutes of the 2nd Half until stoppage time.
As the whistle blows which concludes the 2nd Half. Both teams will share 1 point in the table. Lots of opportunities for both teams, and quite an entertaining match for this main event in Match Day 4 of the Copa Paulino Alcantara. Kaya FC - Iloilo 1 - United City FC 1.

Match Day 4 kicked off last Monday at PFF National Training Center for the Copa Paulino Alcantara, and it will be the first match for the Azkals Development Team against Mendiola FC 1991. Before kick off, there was a problem with the net on the ADT’s side so there was a delay.
As the whistle blew for the first half. A chance for Mendiola FC in the 6th Minute when Hamed Hajimedi took the corner kick on the left flank, but no one was able to get the ball behind the net. Minutes later, a yellow card was given to Joshua Broce in the 8th after a tussle with Hamed Hajimedi.
Then another yellow card in the 11th Minute for Martin Sahilig. When Mendiola FC tried to attack in the 20th Minute, Junior Sam was also booked for a Yellow Card after another tussle to the right flank. The players even on the bench exclaimed about the official’s decision. In the 23rd Minute, Mendiola FC went on with the attack when Mariano Suba charged in on the right flank.
Jayvee Kallukaran tried to stop him, however Suba got tripped inside the penalty box and Sam with the shot, but the ball went wide to the left off target. 10 minutes later, it was the ADTs turn to attack. Dennis Chung with a long range effort, but Jessie Semblante was able to save that shot.
A corner kick was given to ADT in the 38th Minute, Elijah Liao tried to go for the shot after the corner, but the ball went off target. 5 minutes later, Mendiola FC was also given the corner kick. Jimson Cristal took the corner kick on the right flank but it was cleared away by Jaime Rosquillo. Now, the ADTs turn to push forward. Joshua Broce on the right for a long pass looking for Jermi Darapan. He attempted to take the shot, however he got a nasty tackle by Ashley Flores.
Penalty was given to the young Azkals minutes after the 1st half, and Scott Woods took it for 1 – nil. As the half time whistle blows after a physicality match, foul after foul, attempt after attempt, the Azkals Development Team are on the lead with 1 goal.
Changes were made after the start of the 2nd Half. Gio Pabualan is replaced by Francis Tacardon. At the 48th Minute, a Free Kick was given to Mendiola FC after Sam hit the ground and a strong tackle from Elijah Liao. As Hajimedi attempted to take the shot outside the penalty area, Enrico Mangaoang punched the ball away but got in contact with Alassane Wade.
Another Yellow Card was given to Francis Tacardon in the 51st Minute. A free kick was given to ADT in the 53rd Minute, as they tried to score another goal, but a turnover from Mendiola FC. Hamed into the right flank looking for a pass to Sam, with the shot and great reflexes from Mangaoang, but Sam with another attempt but the shot went off target.
In the 62nd Minute, a 2nd Yellow Card was given to Jaime Rosquillo when Ashley Flores ran on the left flank but got pushed away by Rosquillo. Mendiola FC tried to go for an equalizer, but the ball was cleared away for a throw-in. It was a near chance in the 71st Minute for Mendiola and should have been an equalizer, when Ashley Flores flicked the ball away from the keeper, then went for the strike, however it got blocked by Rosquillo.
Another change was made for ADT, Jermi Darapan was replaced by Sky Guerrero in the 65th Minute. A chance from ADT in the 68th Minute if they make it 2 goals to nil, as Dennis Chung positions on the left flank inside the penalty area while Aldueger in the middle, but a strong kick as the ball went out of play.
In the 74th Minute the super sub and his first debut of this tournament, Sky Guerrero goes for the 2nd Goal. Tacardon with the shot attempt, but Semblante able to reach the ball but without his grasp, Aldeguer with another shot but blocked by Crestal, then the ball went to Guerrero positions himself in the middle a few meters away using his left foot, finishes it at the bottom right post.
Multiple changes were made and a few minutes away after full time. For the ADT they sent off Andres Aldeguer replacing Lance Ocampo, and Marc Tobias replacing Jovan Marfiga. While Mendiola FC sends off Franco De La Torre replacing Kenneth Pasoyalan, and Mariano Suba Jr. replacing Aaron Altiche.
At the 82nd Minute, another super sub Lance Ocampo nails it for the 3rd Goal. When Chung attempted to make the shot, but got blocked by Semblante, as the ball went to Ocampo’s sights, nails the back at the back of the net. With only 5 minutes left before half time, both teams made their final changes.
Mendiola FC with 3 changes, Aljo Zabala replacing Louie Polinag, Jaime Chio replacing Kim Min-Su, and Ashley Flores replacing Victor Felicia. While for the ADT, Joshua Broce replacing Luis Claor in the 86th Minute. Only 4 minutes left, ADT are on the lead with 3 goals, and Mendiola can go for a consolation goal after the full time whistle.
1 minute before full time, a chance for Mendiola FC and Sam attempts to score for a goal. After kicking the ball it was an on target shot, but the ball went to hit the arm of an ADT defender. With Sam’s frustration and other players exclaimed it was a handball, and should be given a penalty.
A tough physical 1st half, then a penalty kick before the end of the 1st Half, 2 goals from the substitutes on the ADT side. If this would have turned differently, then Mendiola FC should have given the penalty and still there is poor officiating from the match officials.
As the full time whistle blows, ADT ends up on a high note with 3 goals with 3 points. Up next is the battle between 2 of the most recognizable football clubs in the Philippines, the defending champions Kaya FC - Iloilo against the 2020 League Champions United City FC.

United City FC dominates Maharlika Manila FC
An hour before the night falls at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite last Thursday, as Maharlika Manila FC after their 2 - 1 victory against Mendiola FC 1991, squares off with their adversary, the PFL 2020 League Champions, United City FC.
With fresh new signings from the League Champions 2 years ago, and a year later they decided to participate in this year's tournament. Mike Ott stepping his game as he wears the Captain's armband when Stephan Schröck, is no longer extending his contract with the club.

It was a good start on the 1st Half for the Black & Gold. After numerous attempts from on-target shots, corners but on the 23rd Minute, Alan Robertson nails first blood with a header. 3 minutes later, a second goal from Ricardo Sendra when Simen Lyngbø coming from the right flank passes through looking for Sendra with a quality finish.
A free-kick was given to the Manileños on the 28th Minute, a long pass coming to the left as they were about to score, it was a tough challenge then the players exclaimed they should have been given a penalty, but the match official decides to play on.
In the 43rd minute, a through ball coming from Curt Dizon looking for Ivan Ouano then scores for the 3rd goal minutes before the end of the first half. As the Half Time whistle blows, United City FC is on the lead with 3 goals to nil.
As we're underway for the 2nd Half, at the 49th Minute, Maharlika Manila made their 1st change as Mateo Yuhico replaces Jean Clarino. Until a Yellow Card was given to Kim Sung-Min on the 53rd Minute after bumping with Mike Ott on the left flank. Juraboev takes the free-kick looking for someone in the middle of the box but was headed away for a corner kick.
Short corner in the 54th Minute as Mike Ott is looking for an assist inside the penalty box, but the ball went to Sendra and still under their possession, Lyngbø goes for the cross to the right flank, but it was too powerful and a Goal Kick given to Maharlika Manila.
2 minutes later at the 56th Minute, a chance now from the Manileños as Miggy Clarino attempts to score but was cleared out by Matthew Custodio. Multiple substitutions for United City on the 60th Minute, Curt Dizon replaced by Pocholo Bugas, and Ricky Sendra who scored the 2nd Goal of the match is replaced by Andreas Esswein.
Quick Shot from Pocholo Bugas on the 64th Minute, but was quickly saved by Henri Fong. A minute later, a Free Kick was given to Maharlika Manila after a tussle between Simms and Custodio. Simms takes on the free-kick aiming at the middle of the penalty area but the ball was punched away by Pinthus.
4 minutes later, on the 69th Minute as Maharlika Manila goes forward with the attack when OJ Clarino one-on-one with Robertson, but was pushed down by Esswein as the substitute was given a Yellow Card. A free-kick will be given to the Manileños.
At the 73rd Minute, Hikaru Minegishi scores the 4th goal after Dean Ebarle on the left flank goes for the cross looking for Minegishi and uses his weak foot making the ball almost hit the top crossbar. After Minegishi's goal, Ivan Ouano who scored the 3rd goal of this match is now replaced by Paolo Salenga.
The Black & Gold never stops to make another goal when both replacements Salenga coming from the right flank crosses the ball to Bugas a minute later on the 74th Minute but the shot went wide from the left post.
6 minutes before the end of the 2nd Half, Anthony Pinthus was given a Red Card after leaving the penalty box and a tough challenge from the young keeper. Minegishi was replaced by Florencio Badelic as Maharlika Manila was given the free-kick to test out the replaced keeper's instincts.
As the final whistle blows, United City FC dominates Match Day 3 with 4 goals to nil, while Anthony Pinthus will miss one match for next week's doubleheader. An honorable defeat for the Manileños, but United City FC emerges victorious grabbing the 3 points with a 4 goal difference.
Don't miss Match Day 4 and it will be a doubleheader match this March 28. At 4.00 pm it will be the Azkals Development Team against Mendiola FC 1991, then at 7.15 pm the 2021 Copa Paulino Alcántara Champions - Kaya FC Iloilo against United City FC.

World Cup-bound Malditas bows down to the Lady Taeguks
It was a heartbreak for us, and a tough challenge for the underdogs against a well-experienced team with numerous appearances. 2 days ago, at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune, India. It was the semi-final match of this year’s edition of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Our very own Malditas faced off against the Lady Taeguks of South Korea.
In the 1st Half after 3 minutes, Cho So-Hyun nails the first goal of the match coming from a Corner Kick on the right flank from Kim Hye-Ri, but unable to stop and went through the goal line on the near post. 29 minutes later, Sarina Bolden with a tremendous effort when Jessica Miclat went for a long pass to the penalty area, touched by Quinley Quesada as the ball went to Bolden but was a near-off target.
2 minutes later, the Koreans scored another goal within close range when Choo Hyo-Joo crossed the ball to Son Hwa-Yeon. The Lady Taeguks are on the lead with 2 goals but wanted more when Choe Yu-ri goes one-on-one with Olivia McDaniel 4 minutes later, but her shot went wide.
As the 1st half went to a close, the Malditas had to stand their ground and hold their line within the 2nd Half. In the 66th minute, Son Hwa-Yeon wanted to get another goal in the match then followed it up in the 71st minute from Choo Hyo-Joo. Both shots were denied by Olivia McDaniel, but another one went off target.
Lee Min-a attempts to go for the Third Goal in the 88th minute, where she positions herself at the penalty area on the left flank and makes a tremendous save as she flies off deflecting the shot with her right hand. With the final whistle, the Lady Taeguks will go through to the Finals and the Malditas bowed down in the tournament. At least, we still have the golden ticket for the FIFA Women’s World Cup next year in the land down under.
If I would pick my Woman of the Match in this bout? It will be Olivia McDaniel as she did everything to stand her ground, and held her line since a Goalkeeper’s job is not so easy ensuring that the ball will not pass through the goal line. A tough first half, not until the Koreans tried to score more in the 2nd Half as the Malditas dug in and held their ground to defend their posts.
From competing with well-developed countries to the heavyweights of Asia, the Malditas proved to everyone throughout the years that they’re at the top of the world. We will never forget what the ladies have done for the 3 Stars and the Sun, without the guidance of the new gaffer Coach Alen Stajćić through their Women’s Asian Cup journey.
From Chandler McDaniel’s goal and clean sheet victory against Thailand ending the country’s winless streak to the hardline defense between the Matildas and the Malditas, the 6 - nil victory against Indonesia, and the defining moment when we beat Chinese Taipei via Penalty Shootout with 4 over 3. We Filipinos will remember what the feisty group has done for our country by making our dreams become a reality.
The Malditas will be back and will compete in more tournaments this year at the South East Asian Games, the AFF Women’s Championship, and soon the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand.

Football Stadium turned into a People’s Park
This image below is circulating all over on Facebook.
And you would be wondering? How in the world are you going to rehabilitate an old Football Stadium, then turn it into a park?
This was the proposed project from the province of Bulacan, Philippines. Instead of bringing the pitch back to its former glory, it turned into a garden and park. Where the squared pitch in both opposite ends have a stage theater and open grounds for future events.
People around social media shared their thoughts about this project, and majority of them were disappointed.
I would say that this is a waste and as a fan of the beautiful game. Football is about to get popular again, and how the hell will the younger kids be eager to play Football? The Miracle of Pune: The Game that changed Herstory
Everybody is asleep once the clock strikes at 10pm, but most of us are still awake since mass gatherings are not allowed yet, and for the safety of each and everyone around us who are watching at the comforts of our own homes, whether you’re watching from your TV, your desktop, your laptop or even to your phone just to witness history.
Or even, her story. Their story! As we go wild for another milestone that we can add up on our history books in Filipino Football, and to the entire world of Football. For the first time, the Philippine Women’s National Team enters the semi-finals of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022, and a golden ticket to one of the world’s most prestigious tournaments, the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
How did a crazy Basketball nation do it?
Yes, we admit we are a hoop nation. No matter where you go in every town, every street corner to basketball courts, you would see a makeshift ring, some courts would have complete equipment or improvise just to shoot some hoops. It is a favorite sport by many Filipinos, others prefer Boxing, Billiards, Practical Shooting, Volleyball, even Football.
You’re wondering how we did it? Great preparation even if the tournament is getting closer, due to the safety restrictions and the rising number of cases, face-to-face training is not allowed unless it is under a bubble-controlled environment. Last October 2021, these lady booters were away from their families to train in the U.S. at Irvine, California for 2 months.
These ladies have sacrificed everything, shown their commitment, their focus and to remember that one goal. That is to become a beacon and a ray of hope. The spark that will light the fire, that they will prove around they’re not just a woman. They will do the same things as men can do. They’ll become a ray of hope for our nation, and spread their influence to all of their fellow sisters that they can do other things beyond their wildest dreams.
After Coach Marlon Maro’s departure, the search for the new gaffer of the women’s team is on the run, 2 months before the tournament. Until one man accepted the offer as he is looking for a nation to get their backs, and achieve a bit of history.

On October 26, 2021, the Philippine Football Federation appointed former Central Coast Mariners, and Matildas Coach Alen Stajćić, who led Australia twice in the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifications in 2015 and 2019. Then they reached quarter-final appearances in both the Women’s World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
With all of his achievements, this is a good decision from the federation that would eventually put the 3 Stars and the Sun to the map of international football. Alen believes that he saw a great path to our Malditas aiming for that maiden appearance in the world’s biggest stage. It was challenging at first since there were no international matches due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Months later, Alen enjoyed the camaraderie and the spirit of our lady booters during their training sessions.
Throughout the tournament, the Malditas grabbed their first 3 points against Thailand in favor of Chandler McDaniel in the 80th minute, where she scored outside of the penalty area with a long shot effort on the right flank as the keeper managed to grab the ball, but went through her legs. The ball passed through the goal line making it 1 - nil.
As they face off the Matildas, and an unexpected reunion for Alen in this tournament. The Matildas’ previous match against Indonesia was a massacre scoring 18 goals to nil as they got the 3 points and a big goal difference placing on top of the table in Group B followed by the Philippines in second place.
The moment they faced Australia, it was a scoreless first half as both sides gave everything they’ve got, until the Matildas won 4 goals to nil at the end of the second half. The Malditas showed them to hold their ground, and defend whatever it takes on the first 45 minutes until the final whistle.
It was a great performance for our lady booters as we move on for the final group match between Philippines and Indonesia. The score was 6 - nil in favor of Malditas as we booked our ticket for the quarter-final match against Chinese Taipei. As we fans prepare for the fight of our lives whatever the possible outcome would be, the fate of our Women’s national team, our beloved nation, and to the Filipino Football community.

Tears were about to fall on my eyes, and everyone expected the same thing. Regardless of the result, win or lose, we will be proud that these ladies waved our flag to represent their roots, of what they truly are, why they chose to represent our country instead of the other one. That livestream happened on a Saturday evening while I was preparing for dinner at the kitchen, and eating while I’m listening.
Aside from being a hoop nation, we Filipinos would go and spend an hour for Sabbath day not just to give thanks but to pray for our women’s national team for their safety, that we are with them in this fight, that they’re not just eleven, nor twenty, or a hundred, a thousand, but millions of their fellow countrymen standing side by side with them.
We don’t want to underestimate the enemy, and they also want that piece of the pie. Hours before kick-off, I was able to visit church in the afternoon, prayed, took my communion, and headed straight home to prepare to watch the game. Once our Malditas enters the pitch, each and everyone of them will write her story. As we’re about to watch our lady booters at the comfort of our homes to show their support.
Scoreless first half, but at the 48th minute during the 2nd half Quinley Quesada positions herself near the post within close range after the long throw, as she finds the back of the net making it 1 - nil. However, in the 82nd minute, Zhuo Li-ping, 8 minutes before the final whistle manages to hit it from long range outside the penalty area coming from the right flank as the ball hits on the top left corner as Taipei makes the equalizer to all 1.
As the final whistle blows, both teams go into extra time of 30 minutes but it was scoreless again. Then it would eventually lead to the most crucial part of the game, the Penalty Shootout. It is very nerve cracking, a battle of wits that would pull us on the edge of our seats.
After 2 hours of watching the stream, I paused it for a bit then listened to their live reaction stream. I really don’t want to watch the whole shootout as I stood up on my seat, closed my eyes and prayed while listening to Papi Jay and Johnny Pampa’s commentary.
After 3 shots from both teams, we noticed that Taipei kept on hitting the same spot at the bottom right corner, while we managed to get back until that 3rd shot from Jessica Miclat was saved, even from Capt. Hali Long’s 4th shot attempt was saved. Olivia McDaniel needs to bring her A-game, or else, we are out of the tournament.
Hope never dies, when McDaniel manages to read the ball’s trajectory and denies the 4th shot from Taipei, then the next one was unexpected. It was goalkeeper versus goalkeeper, Olivia made it even and stepped up to take the shot as the ball went into the bottom left corner. As for Papi Jay and Signore Pampa are screaming that we are still in the game. We are still alive! We are approaching the sudden death of who’s going to the semi-finals.
Another save from McDaniel, denying another shot and Sarina Bolden takes on the next shot. While I’m listening to the podcast then resumed to view the livestream again, both men are now crying saying that we won. I was prepping up my camera, pointed it to Bolden’s winning moment, then screamed with amazement then panned the camera to the podcast I was listening to.
120 minutes, and 4 shots later, Olivia McDaniel redeemed herself after 2 saves, and Sarina Bolden finds it at the back of the net hitting the top left corner. For the first time in Filipino Football History, the Malditas, our Women’s National Team are going not just to the semi-finals of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, we secured a golden ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup next year in Australia and New Zealand.
If we were at the pub, we would feel the same thing as we witnessed this historic match as we celebrate outside, singing songs about their victory. The tension, the drama, and the pressure as we hold on to our seats at the comfort of our own homes. It is indeed a match that will write her story, and another one in the history books of Filipino Football.

Possible Aftermath?
Football is about to get popular again, as people around social media are sharing their posts from images to videos about the Malditas’ victory against Chinese Taipei. We’re going to the semi’s against South Korea this Thursday, but we're still having that hangover from last Sunday night. Now that the women’s national team are going to the FIFA World Cup, I guess it is time for the Azkals to also bring their A-game to the next level.
It’s been 12 years since the Miracle of Hanoi, followed by each tournament as the men’s football team worked their way up to secure a slot from the AFF Suzuki Cup to their first appearance in the AFC Asian Cup in 2019. Preparation, motivated and passionate people are the keys to get that goal along with their commitment, hard work, and focus, not just to remember where their roots are, but why are they doing it to achieve something greater that they can possibly imagine.
Scout an even greater coach who has a big background in these tournaments. If the AFF Suzuki Cup is a broader stage that showcases some of the best players around South East Asia, the World Cup is far bigger than that. In Coach Alen's case, we wanted to have him stay for any longer, hoping for him for the best and let the Federation extend his contract as head coach for the Malditas.
Aside from our Filipina heroes to the likes of Gabriela Silang, Melchora Aquino, Teresa Magbanua, Rosa Sevilla de Alvero, Nieves Fernandez, Josefa Ilanes Escoda, Miriam Defensor-Santiago, and others who got involved into our country’s history, these women are now our new heroes. If Hidilyn Diaz lifted millions of Filipinos during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Malditas stood their ground, dug in, and held their line against every adversary for only 90 minutes.
Now, stereotyping and crab mentality will be a never-ending issue, including discrimination and racism, but these people will realize to a point that their minds will explode like a powder keg, their narrow-minded mentality will put to an end to themselves. If you’re not proud of your country’s achievement then go seek another flag to serve for.
Expect that our lady booters will be discovered by top tier football clubs locally and internationally, then they’ll get to experience different styles of play in different countries, train more and go hungry for more to get better on the pitch. From the little girls to every teenage girl they will find the Malditas as their new inspiration, soon they will find a new interest aside from sending beauty queens to represent our country.
I've seen them in action last 2012, and I am proud of what the Malditas have done for our country. As long as I live, I will tell this to my future children, even to your kids, encourage them to play the beautiful game, and to the new generation about a feisty group of women who carried millions of Filipinos inside the ovaled pitch for only 90 minutes.
Not just that they’re half-bloods, but they chose to represent the colors of our flag. The blue horizontal stripe represents peace, truth, and justice. The red horizontal stripe represents patriotism, and valor. The white triangle represents equality, and inside that triangle? Is the 3 Stars and the Sun that represents the nation’s islands and provinces.
Finally, I and the rest of my brothers, and sisters, my fellow passionate Football fans, enter the biggest stage the world has ever known as we hear our National Anthem sung by our players, the coaching staff, and we stand at the terraces as we unfurl our National Flag inside the stadium.

It's been a year from the moment I registered, then used this platform to share my thoughts with the world. Until, times got rough on me since I decided to go back serving the BPO industry again, but it was a tough road ahead.

After writing a few articles one week after, someone just upvoted my article on my review about the movie ULTRAS, where it centers on the main character Sandro, one of the founding fathers of a fictionalized Ultras group Apache, supporters of S.S.C. Napoli. The football club mentioned is real, but the Serie A, other Ultras groups, and football clubs were not involved in this production.
It centers his life of guts and glory for his beloved football club until he had a realization that he wants to have a normal life. Other supporting characters like Angelo who wants to follow in his footsteps consider the group as his family and a father-figure to Sandro, Terry (Sandro's love interest), Gabbiano & Pechegno - the de facto leaders of the group when most of the core leaders were suspended to enter the stadium after numerous brawls with other Ultras group.
One thing that I hate after watching the movie was the reviews. I read every review about it from Rotten Tomatoes to IMDB and other websites, so I decided to write my own and take my personal views on it. These critics will never understand how the movement works, and this is how they roll showing their love and devotion for their club, not just for the club, including their roots and their city too.

As things are gradually coming back to normal, it changed our way of living, but it tested our resilience and stepped up to the toughest situation we face today. After a year serving Teleperformance, I decided to leave the company and started to visit every city in the capital region and see their current situation if there are any changes or did it stay the same.

The pioneer of Pinoy Rock, throughout his career the only thing he did is to make music. At 11 years old, he was part of the Blue Jazzers, the Villains, the Surfers, then imitated Mick Jagger during his tenure with the Downbeats. Became part of the Japanese psychedelic rock trio Speed, Glue & Shinki, until his big break as the guitarist of Juan Dela Cruz with Mike Hanopol, Wally Gonzales, and Edmon Fortuno.
Until his passing, Pepe Smith is still remembered through his music and contributions to our local rock scene.
What's next for me?
It's a cliche that it was a tough road ahead for me. Looking back at these articles that I previously wrote gave me a sense of purpose of what can I still do aside from taking phone calls. There would be times that I'm about to lose interest, but it didn't stop me there to writing more.
If I discovered this platform sooner, then I should have spent more of my time here years ago if only I could turn back the hands of time. I will continue to write more, and something big is coming for me.
I guess it is time to grind responsibly aside from taking my full-time job.

2 months ago, I celebrated my 29th birthday. I was about to post this last October 8, but I wasn't able to do so since I was working on that day and celebrated my birthday a day after with my family and close relatives.
One more year, and I'll be 30 years old. Nah, it's only just a number but no rush for me. I am grateful that I'm still alive and thankful every single day. So, what will be next for me?
Can a heartbreak be a blessing?
It could be a yes, or no. Depends on how we think of it. For me when I experienced it my world was shattered into pieces from the moment she showed that ring in front of me. I did give everything. Until I moved on but the pain was still there. It was very hard at first.
The moment we broke up, I was kind of lost until I decided to focus on myself, before and during this situation. I even tried to be friends with her, but the memories are still there. I tried to win her back, but it was stupid. It was very stupid for me to win her back. I thought that I already moved on not until she showed up again until I repeated the process of meeting someone new.
Being friends with her is going to be a bad idea, and I no longer want to remember her that's for certain. For me, a heartbreak is indeed a blessing. Yes, I admit that it didn't work out, but in the long run, it was worth it. It molded me and changed me than I previously was today.
Now, I met my other half which she's younger than me - a 5-year gap. I met her on Facebook Dating, we exchanged messages, we confessed to each other, then we decided to meet personally a few days ago. It was a simple date, walking around Bonifacio Global City. Guess I'm no longer lonely this Christmas.
I felt lost, and will I continue to write more?
It's okay to feel lost when we're in our 20s, 30s, 40s, but that fire inside of us will spark again. You'll never know when that spark will light up in your veins. After gathering my thoughts and sleepless nights. Possibly, yes, I will continue to write more, but I'll not be posting articles every day since I went back serving the BPO industry.
My passion for photography will never end, but writing stories and sharing my thoughts with the world can be a different story. I may still use this platform since I enjoyed it using from the moment I posted my first article, then earned a few extra cash. It all started as a sideline, then I turned it full time which didn't cover too much of my daily needs, and went back on a regular job.
This will be the last article that I'll be publishing, it may sound a cliche but I'll be back. It could be a different pen name with a different focus to share on, or I may still use my account here. Who knows, this is not goodbye yet, but I'll be back again, I promise.
The Legend of El Romperredes
In **2006**, when the ***Younghusband brothers*** were discovered by a video gamer and also a fan of the sport, where both of their names show up in ***Football Manager*** - a simulator where you manage your club and face off with other clubs in prestigious tournaments like in the world of Football.
As both brothers were eligible and enlisted to play for our national team they rose to stardom. Fast forward to **2010**, when the Azkals beat Vietnam’s Golden Dragons during the **AFF Suzuki Cup 2010** until they were defeated by Indonesia. Years later, the Azkals participated and won in numerous tournaments for the past 11 years.
Before their cinderella run, the discoveries of homegrown talent both local & international, and of becoming a hoop nation let’s travel back before the end of the 19th Century, a spark that lit the fire of a revolution against our colonial masters. One man was destined for greatness and left a mark for the love of the beautiful game.
Paulino Alcántara y Riestrá

Born in **Concepcion, Iloilo, Philippines** on **October 7, 1896** - the year when the ***Filipino Revolution*** started. His father was a Spanish Military Officer and to an Ilongga mother. In **1899**, during the ***Filipino-American War***, the Alcántara Family moved out of the country to Barcelona, Spain. Then soon discovered his passion for Football.
Discovered by ***Joan Gamper*** (known as ***Hans Max Gamper-Haessig***), founder of **FC Barcelona**. Alcántara was a natural striker. Amazed by his talents, he was brought over to the club. You wouldn’t believe at what age did he start to play. He was 15 years old when he started to play for Barça.
*I wonder what we were doing when we're 15 years old?* Most of us are studying or dropped out of school. Whatever would be our situation at that time, Alcántara made it to the big leagues at such a young age, becoming the youngest player to play for a European club.
Up to this day, no one has beaten Alcántara’s record except for the number of goals in each of his game appearances which is already beaten by one of the world’s most popular players, which I’ll tell you later in a bit.
Not only of becoming the youngest player, but also the First Asian player to play for a European club. His first appearance against Catala SC scoring his first 3 goals, including a hat trick, ended with a 9 - nil victory for Barça.
Yes, it was a good start for the young Alcántara, but he was sent back by his parents to his birthplace in **1916**. Aside from Football, he was a medical student and played for **Bohemian Sporting Club** - one of the first clubs established in Manila which he left a mark in Filipino Football.
Unstoppable Alcántara
BSC won 1st Place in the Philippines Championships in 1917 and 1918. Until he was discovered and selected to play for the national team in 1917 of which became one of sports history’s biggest wins and a major upset for the opposing side of the team.
On **May 10, 1917**. It was the ***Far Eastern Games*** held in **Shibaura Grounds, Tokyo, Japan**. The hosts against the visiting team, our national team. Alcántara and the rest of his teammates destroyed the Japanese with a **15 - 2** victory. It was the country's best win, and Japan's greatest defeats.
It would not be possible without Alcántara for this epic moment, a day after they faced the Republic of China, but the match was abandoned after China scored a penalty kick making it 3 - nil when one of our goalkeepers punched the penalty taker which sparked a brawl from both teams in the 55th Minute.
China won 1st Place with 4 points, followed by the Philippines in 2nd Place with 2 points, and Japan in 3rd Place with nil points. The Filipinos now have a star player in the making, while FC Barcelona felt his absence the moment he left the club, and they haven't won a single major trophy yet.
His parents want him to stay in the Philippines and finish his studies of becoming a doctor, while the club pleads for him to return for Barça. After the tournament, he contracted Malaria but he refused to take any medication unless with the approval of his parents to have him returned to Barcelona.
He was stubborn, but unstoppable for him to return for his club. The following year in **1918**, Alcántara returns to Spain.
The Legend of El Romperredes
After leaving the Philippines, Alcántara is now playing better than ever. During the match between Barça and Real Sociedad on **April 19, 1919**, Alcántara made a powerful kick to the ball, when a policeman got in the way forcing the ball to hit the officer, he flew off in mid-air as the officer and the ball hit at the back of the net.
The goal was known as the ***police goal***, it became one of the most memorable moments in the history of Football. Alcántara paved the way as the club won the **Copa del Rey** and the **Campionet de Catalunya**. This marked the beginning of the *club's first golden era* as they dominate both tournaments.
Aside from playing with FC Barcelona, Alcántara served for 3 different countries: the **Catalans** in **1915**, the **Philippines** in **1917**, until he was selected to play for **Spain** in **1920**, at that same year, he was about to finish his final exams as a licensed doctor. However, he was able to balance both of his passions.
On **October 7, 1925**, Alcántara was celebrating his 25th Birthday making his first debut for the Spanish national team. They went against Belgium and scored 2 goals making it a 2 - nil victory for La Roja.
In **1922**, there was a match between Spain and France. Alcántara made a powerful kick then goes straight at the net when it broke out, and earned the nickname ***El Romperredes / Trencaxavxes*** (translates to ***The Netbreaker***).
After serving 3 countries while dominating the Copa del Rey and the Campionet de Catalunya. Alcántara hanged his boots in **1927** to pursue his medical profession. He retired at the age of 31, but that didn't stop him from becoming a doctor when he returned as the club's director from **1931** to **1934**, and the head coach of La Roja in **1951**.
Alcantara's legacy could be all about guts & glory, it's given that every personality would never escape controversy and their image left tainted as we can think of.
Spanish Civil War
From **1936** to **1939**, Spain went to a civil war separating the country from the loyal Republicans to the left-leaning Popular Front Government of the 2nd Spanish Republic, along with anarchists, fascists, communists, and other groups. Alcántara served the ***Falange España*** - a Spanish Fascist political organization that ruled the country for over 40 years.
Alcántara was a Lieutenant of the F***recce Nere***. A volunteer corps led by ***Francisco Franco***, and ***Benito Mussolini***. He served on the fronts of **Guadalajara**, **Aragon**, and **Catalonia**. After the war, he lived in Barcelona. Paulino Alcántara died on **February 13, 1967**, at the age of 67, and was buried at ***Les Corts*** cemetery beside ***Camp Nou***.
Legacy
Despite his controversial military service during the Spanish Civil War, his illustrious career as a professional football player left a big mark in the world of football, being *the youngest player at the age of 15, and the first Asian to play for a European club*.
His height, he was shorter than the other players, and this is a proven testament since we lack in height when it comes to Basketball. Despite his height, mix that with speed and his style of play it carried him from the top.
With his tenure at Barça, Alcántara appeared in **357 matches** and scored **369 goals**. In **2014**, the record was broken by ***Lionel Messi*** when he faced Osasuna ending with 7 - nil, making it **371 goals** as the new top goalscorer of the club.
In **2007**, the **Federacion Internationale de Football Association** (**FIFA**) named Alcántara as the greatest Asian player of all time. Fast forward to **2018**, our local football league - the ***Philippines Football League*** named the cup's tournament after his honor, the ***Copa Paulino Alcántara***. And this year, he was now inducted to be part of the ***Philippine Sports Hall of Fame***.
The ***Bohemian Sporting Club***, the club that Alcántara previously played with was dissolved in the **1930s** until it was revived by establishing first a school called the *Bohemian Football School* to honor the great El Romperredes, to gain the attention of the youth to learn and play football. Then the group decided to create a team and joined the ***Philam Life 7s Football League***, a 7-a-side Football League based in **McKinley Hills, Taguig**.
Born within the spark of the Filipino Revolution, Alcántara was destined for greatness. From his first debut at an early age to a rising star of our nation and a force to be reckoned with becoming Barça's top goalscorer. His name will be remembered by Filipino fans, and the next generation of footballers who would bring honor to the 3 Stars and the Sun.
I Came Back to the BPO industry
It’s been a year of using this platform from sharing our current situation with the world to writing interesting articles. It was a great ride until I realized that it only does cover a few bucks, so I decided to go back to serving the industry again.
Writing articles for the last 7 months, there were times that I would get easily tired aside from cooking food for lunch & dinner. There would be times that I would slack off, but there are times that the fire inside of me is about to light up, like firing up the stove, for me to keep continuing to write more. Until that stove goes lower when you adjust the knob to lower the heat down.
What’s worse is by being lectured, or sermoned by my sister. What she told me at that time I didn’t mind either, whatever comes in from my left ear goes out to my right ear, I simply forget it. She even brought up the issue again years ago, of me not going to Canada.
I was able to post a few articles, then I decided to apply again as an advocate. Call after call, interview after interview, until I got hired. I felt the joy of having full-time work again so I can continue to help my family. The moment I got hired again, I was about to think will I still want to write again? As I’ve mentioned before, I’ll continue to write more.
Weeks later, we received news that my grandmother was in critical condition. She’s about to die as predicted by her doctors and has only a week left to live. The whole clan was in shock, and my grandmother refused to stay longer in the hospital. So she decided to go back to her home, while I and my mother volunteered to go back to Manila to take care of her, until her last breath.
I promised myself that I will never go back because of this dispute between my mother and his brother, which my uncle who’s going to be the rightful owner of this home. So I set aside my anger, and think of the possible outcome so I can take care of my grandmother before she lays to rest. A week later, she survived the doctor’s prediction. Now, she is still going strong and happy as she sees me every day at home including her grandchildren to visit her.
Now that I’m here at our ancestral home, it brings me back all the great memories then. Now I got hired, my grandmother is still alive, the only struggle I’m facing was the distance to my new workplace, from Manila to Muntinlupa City. It’s a 2-hour ride depending on the traffic conditions. For June 2020, my shift started at 6:00 am until it ends at 3:00 pm.
That shift only lasted for 3 weeks. The only challenge was I need to wake up early by 3:00 am, by 4:00 am I have to take a jeepney ride from Quirino-Taft Avenue to EDSA. Previously, I’ll drop off at Baclaran and ride another to Alabang which was the fastest route, until there were some changes. Once I reach EDSA, so same thing, another ride to Starmall - Alabang, then again going to Alabang Town Center. When the shift ends, I’ll take the jeepney again going back to Starmall - Alabang, then take the train from Alabang to San Andres which will only take an hour to get home.
After 3 weeks, my schedule got changed from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am. Instead of taking a jeepney ride, I take the train and once the shift ends I would take either the train again or a bus ride going home. A month later, I was able to pass the Product Specifics Training. The next phase is where our skills will be put to the test, and apply everything we’ve learned during the training.
From 8:00 pm, our shift adjusted to 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Still, I do the same routine. The only challenge for me was, it is way different from my previous programs. The main concern I usually get every phone call is regarding their billing statement. From valid charges to comparing their current bill to their previous bill from the previous months, sometimes they’re requesting compensation or minimal troubleshooting. And these calls should be done for only 20 minutes.
Until, I noticed that these guys are performance-based driven, and they’re not even appreciating our efforts of coming into work even if the weather is bad, or could get worse if someone didn’t show up at work. This is where these sanctions would come in, and in an instant, they’ll be giving you a memo, but that depends on your situation. I did everything on my end to pass the training, but it wasn’t meant for me. In our final week, I didn’t show up for 2 days because I felt the burnout again, started to apply to different companies, and showed up at the office again.
To tell you the truth, I can still do it but, there are unruly and rude customers over the phone, I need to remain calm and never fight back. Press the mute button and curse them in our language. Conversational-wise, there are still good customers out there that are being valued and appreciated the business for many years. Others are very rude, unruly, and unprofessional. What I don’t like was the workload. From making a quota like a customer satisfaction to making a sale like upgrading their plans or even their smartphones.
The moment I showed up again, my credentials were deactivated, including my badge access. So the company decided to not let me continue with the next phase. For the first time in my career, and 4 years serving as an advocate, this never happened to me. If they decided to have me re-profiled with a different program that would be acceptable. But what they did was they cut me off from the company. I already signed their Non-Disclosure Agreement declaring my separation from the company, and one of my peers encouraged me to go back after 3 months.
Well, I no longer want to go back to that company that’s for certain. At first, I thought it will be the end for me. They have high standards & hopes for their trainees expecting the whole batch would pass, and they’re only wasting their money. So I decided to apply again, and after a few weeks, I signed my contract with my new company. I was thinking this could be my second chance. The moment I got hired, I wasn’t expecting I would pass the training, from PST until Nesting. There were a lot of setbacks, but I chose to move forward and never look back.
Expectations were met, and not too much workload. No more explanations about their bill, no more upgrading their devices and their current plans. What I only focus on now, is mainly troubleshooting their modem so they can continue using their internet services. From the companies I previously applied to, I received a lot of emails, phone calls, reconsidering to re-apply for them, but I’m no longer interested since I already found my new second home.
After 1 month of training, our trainer, mentors, and even others were impressed by our batch. Aside from those, they’ll be working in the comfort of their homes, while I will continue to work on-site for only a few months. For 1 month, I was able to get along with them even if we have our differences and different point of view in life. I will surely miss them, from their wackiest jokes to dad/adult jokes, good or bad moments I will never forget that. And I will never waste this second chance they gave me.
Once the clock strucks tommorow midnight, after 2 hours. The real work begins.
