On Saturday, Putri and Ningsih were getting ready to go home from Alas Purwo Forest, they had just camped for three days. On the way home, Putri heard the sound of a puppy crying.

"Ningsih, did you hear something?" asked the Putri.

"No, what did you hear? Ningsih replied.

"Try to listen to it again," said Putri

Then Ningsih listened carefully and focused, she also heard the sound of the puppy crying.

"Eh, yes, the voice is from the east, let's see," said Ningsih.

They walked towards the east, where the source of the sound came from. They were very curious and wanted to know what happened to the puppy. They were both shocked to see an adult female dog and one of her cubs were dead, but there was one puppy still alive.

"Looks like this mother dog just died," said Putri.

"Yes, that's right, there were gunshot marks to the stomach and head," said Ningsih.

Putri tried to approach the puppies who were sad because their mother had died, but the puppies looked scared when Putri approached. The puppy hides behind the mother's body.

"Hey, don't be afraid, I'll give you food here," said Putri, taking out a loaf of bread from her backpack.

The puppy then approached and ate the bread given by Putri. It seemed that the puppy was so hungry that the dog devoured the bread that was given to him by Putri. Seeing the very hungry puppy devouring the bread, Putri gave all the bread that was in her backpack.

"Hope you get well soon," said Putri, rubbing the puppy's head.

After that, Putri and Ningsih continued their journey home. Arriving at the edge of the forest, Ningsih realized that the puppy was following the two of them.

"Loh, what are you doing here little dog," said Ningsih.

"Let's just take it home, poor puppy," said Putri.

"My house is narrow, you just take it home, Put," said Ningsih

"Okay," said the Putri.

Arriving at the house, Putri bathed and cleaned the dog. She takes good care of him, every afternoon, Putri takes her dog for a walk to the park. The two-month-old dog he named 'Sukro'.

One afternoon when Putri and Sukro were walking on the river bank, there was a group of boys playing on the riverbank, they looked happy swimming there. Not long ago, one of the children playing in the river was carried away by the water to the middle, in that section, the river was quite deep, the child asked his friends for help, but no one could swim.

Putri who saw the incident immediately ran to save the boy, but Sukro, Putri's pet dog ran faster, Sukro jumped into the river and saved the child who had been swept away. His friends cheered happily to see Sukro become a hero for them.

"You are great Sukro," said Putri

"Woof.. woof..,!!" Sukro said

"Next time, you have to be careful when you play in the river," said Putri advising the group of boys.

"Okay sis," they said

The clock showed 05.30 in the afternoon, Putri and Sukro went home. Arriving at home, Putri gave food to Sukro, tonight Putri made pancakes for Sukro. It was Sukro's favourite food. The dog ate the pancake very voraciously.

After 10:00 pm, Putri went to sleep, as did Sukro, the dog was fast asleep after eating the pancake made by Putri. At 02.00 pm, Sukro woke up because he heard something, it turned out to be a thief who acted at Putri's house. Immediately Sukro barked and the thief ran out, but Sukro kept chasing him until he left the house.

Sukro bit the thief's leg so he wouldn't run away. The noise of the dog and the thief woke Putri from her sleep, she went out to check what was happening. There Putri saw her dog biting the thief's leg.

"Let go of Sukro," said Putri.

Sukro immediately released his bite.

"This is your dog, huh!" said the thief.

"Yes, that's my dog," said Putri.

"I was just passing through here, but your dog bit me," said the thief

"I'm sorry," said Putri

Putri also told Sukro to go into the house, at home Putri scolded Sukro in a high tone, Putri shouted at her dog so Sukro felt guilty. The dog just bowed as if he understood the owner's anger.

"As a punishment, you have to sleep outside," said Putri.

Putri immediately closed the door of her house and left Sukro. Feeling guilty, Sukro went to a food stall that was closed, the dog slept there.

The next morning, Putri went to the market to buy vegetables, she had not realized that her dog had left. While walking towards the market, Putri saw a crowd of angry people. Putri approached them and wanted to know what was going on there.

"What's this, sir?" asked Putri to one of the residents.

"A thief is being beaten together," answered a resident.

Putri then approached, she wanted to see the thief who was being judged by the residents, and how surprised she was when she saw the figure of a man who was bowed with his hands tied.

"Well, this is the person from last night," said Putri.

"You know him?" asked a resident.

"Last night my dog bit him in front of my house," said Putri.

"Maybe he wanted to steal at your house last night, but failed because of your dog," said one resident.

Immediately Putri felt guilty for Sukro, she immediately ran to the house to meet Sukro, but the dog was no longer at home. Putri panicked that her dog had run away somewhere, Putri also called Ningsih to help find her dog.

"Hello, Ningsih, Sukro is missing, help me find Sukro," said Putri

"Why did it disappear,? what happened,?" Ningsih said

"Last night I pissed him off and told him to sleep outside," said Putri

"Yeah, I'll be right there," said Ningsih.

Finally, Putri and Ningsih went to look for the missing Sukro, they split up to look for the dog, but until the afternoon, Sukro had not been found. At 05.00 in the afternoon, the cloud which had been cloudy from earlier suddenly rained, Putri was still looking for her dog by the river. Because the road by the river was very slippery, Putri slipped and drifted into the river. Actually, Putri can swim, because she slipped, her leg sprained and it was difficult to move. Putri screamed for help, but no one heard Putri's voice.

Suddenly, something jumped into the river, it was Sukro. The dog swam to save Putri because Putri's burden was quite heavy, the dog was very difficult to pull her master's body to the edge of the river. After successfully bringing Putri to the riverside, Sukro ran out of energy and drifted into the river, meanwhile, Putri fainted and was woken up by Ningsih.

"Put, what happened to you?" Ningsih said.

"I have swept away, then Sukro saved me," said Putri.

"Then, where is Sukro?" Ningsih asked.

"I don't know, I immediately fainted," said Putri, "My feet also hurt from slipping earlier," said Putri again.

"I carried you home, you rest first at home," said Ningsih.

Arriving at home, Ningsih treated Putri's injured leg, the woman also made warm soup for her friend. Suddenly a boy knocked on the door. The boy was once saved by Sukro while drifting in the river.

"Sis, I found this dog by the river," said the boy.

Putri cried seeing Sukro who was dead, Putri regretted that she had scolded Sukro, even though the dog she was angry with was innocent. Now Sukro is no longer with Putri. Finally, Putri, Ningsih, and the boy buried Sukro's body behind Putri's house.
