"Carska bara" Special Nature Reserve

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION: First protection: 1955, IUCN Category IV Special Nature Reserve, Habitats and other managed areas; EMERALD Habitat and Species Network, Ramsar, IBA, IPA; 10 perfect places in the Republic of Serbia The reserve is located 55 km from Belgrade, 60 km from Novi Sad, 14 km from Zrenjanin (towards Belgrade). Ečka Sports Airport is 6 km away from the Reserve. Access to the Reserve is possible by bus, car, bicycle and boat, there is also a regular bus line Zrenjanin-Belo Blato (via RG "Ečka").

SRP "Carska bara" includes the rest of the former main area along the upper course of the river Begej, with preserved and various orographic and hydrographic marsh forms and phenomena. It represents a complex - a mosaic of swamp, forest, meadow, steppe and slatina ecosystems with diverse and rich living world and habitats of many endemic, subendemic, relict species of the Pannonian area. The natural values ​​of the Reserve are highly valued due to the existence of about 500 plant species, 239 species of birds, 20 species of fish, as well as 30 species of mammals rare for this area, and fishpond lakes between two entities of the protected area are of special importance.

TOURIST OFFER The protected area provides the opportunity for full-day visits. The emphasis of the tourist offer is placed on a multi-hour boat trip, cycling on the embankment, and for lovers of active holidays, it is possible to walk along the paths along the picturesque landscape. At the special request of visitors, flights by motor kite and light plane are organized. Professional and educational tours are organized for pupils and students by reservations. Topics are primarily related to ecology with an emphasis on swamp wetland ecosystems. There are also special bird / game observation programs, from the lookout and photo checkpoints, at certain locations. From the facilities, tourists have at their disposal: a nature house, a tourist boat, a lookout point on Carska bara, a health trail and a picnic area with information boards, a playground on the picnic area, a classroom in nature.
