Gambling. An activity that most of us deemed as a negative or a "bad" one. Some may even go to the extent to dub it as one of the addictions that people could not even shake off as hard as they try. And I think it's justified because there are a lot of people who lost their ways of gambling, people lost their savings, their ways of living, and people also lost their lives to gambling.
Although the majority of us view this activity as some kind of a bad thing, I think that we don't realize that in everything we do, there is some sort of gambling involved. I think it's best that I just go on and say it, life itself is a gamble.
Why did I say that? Where on Earth did I pull such a ridiculous claim? Well, you know how we are when we are so relaxed being drizzled by fine droplets of water under the showerhead, provocative thoughts come to mind whenever we are in that state. I wish I could tell you that I just thought about it from being in the shower but unfortunately, this line of thinking was inspired by a show I was watching the other day. Or shall I say, "rewatching", since I know for a fact that I have already seen the show, it's called Kakegurui.
I have seen the Anime, and now I am watching the live-action, although I could really swear that I have seen this one too. I just forgot all about it. The scenes and the faces are familiar so I must have seen it before.
Anyhow, the story is set in a school wherein the students aren't there to study boring subjects like Math, Art, Sciences and any other, they are there to gamble. Their rankings all depend on gambling and everything is decided via gambling.
So as I was watching it and I was looking at the female protagonist's pretty cute face, my mind was wandering and it was wondering because some of the aspects of the show may ring true if applied to our daily lives. I, therefore, thought that in everything that we do, we gamble.
Hmmmm, I really don't know where to begin but let's just take a day in our life for example.
Just as soon as you open your eyes in the morning, you already won a gamble, what are the odds of you waking up for the day? Did you know that a lot of people go to sleep without ever waking up again?
But even after you wake up, you're still feeling quite sluggish and you could not bring yourself to get right up, so what do you do?
Yes, of course, you close your eyes and decide to snooze off again just for 5 minutes, you take the risk of not waking up in time and being late, and again, you gambled.
You managed to get up on time but you have no time for a proper meal so you held onto your resolve and opted to just eat later at the office. You understood the risk and you gambled your health in which ulcer is a possibility.
And there are ways to go from your house to your office, you opted to take a cab. Again, doesn't it seem like a gamble? Getting in a car with a total stranger, well, what could go wrong right?
I think by now you know what I mean and what I am trying to say, in every little thing, in every petty decision we make, there's some sort of gambling involved. And I am not even talking about the cryptos we have in our nonexisting wallets.
Gambling is the game of odds, numbers, probabilities, and risks. And what do you know, life is much like that. Hence, life is a gamble.
Hey you!
I just had to stop right there since this one is supposed to be a writing prompt. Another entry to our initiative #promptfactory .
This prompt is about GAMBLING. Relate your article to it, tell a story, paint a picture, however you want to do it as long as your topic is about gambling.
You may use your own creative thinking to come up with it but if you're stuck here are some questions that you can use to guide you in writing the article:
Do you know how to gamble? What games do you know how to play?
When was the last time you gamble?
What was the highest amount, or the greatest loss you suffer from a gamble? You know, money isn't the only thing we gain or lose in gambling. I know a guy who lost a bet and as a consequence, he underwent a surgery for breast implant. LOL
What was your greatest victory so far?
Do you know anyone who's a gambling addict? How are they now?
Have you ever been to a casino? How was your experience?
If you will play a game in a life and death situation, what game would you like it to be?
Alright, so that's it, you can go wild with this one, as wild as you can be. I hope you enjoy writing this one if you opted to participate, looking forward to your entries.
See you at the next one ...
Cheers!!!

yep.. agree life is a gamble.. negative connotation on gambling is you're right on how it ruins lives. or how it tolerates "easy win" or "easy money" mindset (even though nothing's easy even in gambling.. ) .. .
