Achieving a Peace of Mind

It is a good goal to have. A good way to end the day.

But achieving peace of mind is easier said than done. Most often than not, we would have unfinished business by the end of the day. Emails to be written, clothes to be ironed, garments to be repaired, books to be arranged and issues to be tackled.

It is important to be able to let it go for the day, and pick it up again the next day as a new day begins.

When I started work, some eons ago, I would stay in the office late into the night, to finish up my work, way past dinner time, almost reaching bedtime. But my dad would always say, "Work will never finish. Once you are done with one, another would pile up. What is important, is to be able to wrap it up for the day, rest the mind and body, and come back to it the next morning, refreshed." Wise words which I try to practise daily.

By the end of day, the mind and body reach a level of fatigueness and one would probably take more time to do the same piece of work. It is a good idea to wrap it up, go home and rest, recharge and get back to it the next morning. It does take some work, a mental discipline and self realization.

It also depends on the task at hand. There are times when a task or duty requires it to be completed fully. For that, there is not much of a choice. It then comes to a matter of prioritization. Those that needs to be attended to and to be completed, we work towards completion. Those that can be let go for the day, leave what it is that has not been completed and continue the next day. The work to be done ain't going anywhere.

If it is an issue that is bothering the mind, by learning to wrap things up and shutdown for the day, maybe with a bit of meditation, or winding down with some soft music, hopefully, we will be on the road to achieving a peace of mind at the end of each day.

Wise words indeed and this is what we say here too plus "it won't walk out of you". Those gnomes aren't given a help either.

You wrote a helpful post about learning.
