The Power of Garlic: How Many Chens Should You Eat for Good Immunity?

Let food be your medicine, and medicine your food" are the famous words of the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, often called the father of Western medicine. It is this popular quote that goes great when it comes to garlic. I can tell you the five reasons why garlic is an excellent natural remedy for many things, including strengthening the immune system.

Raw garlic contains only about 14 calories - 0.57 grams of protein and approximately three grams of carbohydrates. Although very small, one chen contains larger amounts of vitamins and nutrients, of which about 2.81 milligrams of vitamin C, 1.28 milligrams of selenium, 0.15 milligrams of manganese and 0.15 milligrams of iron should be extracted. But despite the fact that it is rich in nutrients, due to its size, one clove of garlic will not supply you with daily needs for nutrients. The daily amount that everyone should consume is at most one to two women.

It is also important to know that if you exceed the mentioned daily dose, you risk indigestion, diarrhea, bad breath and bloating. Along with garlic, you should definitely add fresh parsley, mint or apples to your diet to prevent the creation of an unpleasant odor after consuming garlic.

A study published in the Journal of Immunology found that garlic strengthens the immune system by stimulating lymphocytes, macrophages and other cells of the immune system. In addition, it helps fight colds because it has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.

Also, the nutritionist explained that many studies rely on the mentioned positive things related to garlic, but there is no strong medical evidence that would support the possibility that dietary supplements in the form of garlic supplements can reduce the duration or severity of colds or viruses. Therefore, be sure to wash your hands and do not touch your face to prevent future infections.

Garlic is an excellent source of chemicals that help protect cells from damage and reduce the risk of certain types of cancer. Chemicals are ingredients in fruits and vegetables associated with reducing the incidence of chronic diseases, and some studies have proven that chemicals from garlic have anticancer effects and help fight stomach and intestinal cancer.

A study published last year in the journal Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine found that consuming two capsules of garlic extract a day for two months could have a positive effect on lowering high blood pressure and could reduce arterial tension in people with high blood pressure.

In addition, a study from 2013 states that garlic reduces lipids in the blood, which means that it lowers cholesterol and thus reduces the risk of arterial plaque. How much garlic is needed for a person to feel these benefits is very individual information. But research on the subject shows that a person should consume about four cloves of garlic a week.

Athletes in wooden Greece reportedly ate garlic before each competition to improve their performance. The reason lies in the fact that garlic releases nitric oxide, a thing that relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. The mentioned ingredient is usually released during running so that the muscles get more oxygen. Some studies in rats and mice have shown that garlic can indeed provide better endurance when exercising but data for humans have not yet been defined, so we cannot draw final conclusions.

Garlic is best eaten fresh because you will get the maximum health benefits from it. Namely, allicins from garlic, which contribute to its efficiency, have the strongest effect immediately after you chew or chop it. In garlic is at its peak ten minutes after cutting, and they are destroyed by temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius.

Write in the comments if you eat garlic at all, I personally do, of course, every day a little.
