The protagonist of this post is the Fire Spitter card, which is also the protagonist of this week's Splinterlands "Share Your Battle" contest.

Card: Fire Spitter

Description, Stats and Abilities

Fire Spitter is a card from the Reward collection and is available in two versions: Regular and Gold.

It is an Epic card and is a card of the element Dragon.

The Fire Spitter - Regular Version of level 1 has the following stats:

- It has a mana cost of 4 points.

- It has 2 ranged attack points

- Has 4 life points and has no armor points.

- Has a slightly above average speed (4).

- Has an ability: Flying.

Thanks to the Flying ability, the Fire Spitter card has a higher chance of avoiding a melee or ranged attack when that attack comes from cards that don't have the same ability.

Fire Spitter - Gold Version starts at level 3 and has the following stats:

- It has a mana cost of 4 points.

- Has a 3 point ranged attack

- Has 5 life points and has no armor points.

- Has a slightly above average speed (4**)

- Has an ability: Flying.

When Fire Spitter reaches level 6 (maximum level) it gains its second and final ability: Dodge.

The Dodge ability allows Fire Spitter to further increase the chance of avoiding melee attacks and ranged attacks.

Market Prices, Levels and Valuations

Each card in the Splinterland game is present in two versions: Regular and Gold.

Some cards also belong to two different collections: Alpha and Beta.

Fire Spitter is present in only one collection (Reward), so there are a total of 2 Fire Spitter cards that differ in:

- cost (the Gold version costs much more than the regular version)

- starting level (the gold version starts at level 3)

- number of cards needed to increase the level

- number of cards in circulation.

The lowest cost of Fire Spitter (Level 1) - Regular version on the market is $0.57 (April 28, 2021)

In the following picture you can see the complete statistics

The cost of Fire Spitter - Gold version (starting level is level 3) lowest on the market is 16.50 $ (28 April 2021)

In the following image you can see the complete statistics

Considerations on levels

Level 3 (Regular Version)

Level 3 is the level that, in my opinion, has the best benefit/price ratio!

When Fire Spitter reaches level 3

- Increases life points by one unit (4->5) compared to level 1

- Increases its ranged attack by one point (2->3).

To reach level 3 you need:

- 6 cards to combine for the Regular version and the best price on the market is 2.99 $ (0.50$ per card).

The gold version already starts at level 3 but the price is much higher than the regular version and I don't recommend it to new players who have few cards in their collection because especially at the beginning it is important to have as many useful battle cards in your collection as possible in order to grow faster. It's better to buy 5 useful cards for 3$ instead of one golden one which costs 16$.

Now let's see how Fire Spitter behaves on the battlefield.

A battle of mine with Fire Spitterr

If you want to see the battle, you can do so from this link:

In the battle of this post I had the following conditions to respect:

- Close Range: All cards with a range attack can also attack from the first position.

- Equalizer: Cards in battle gain the life points of the card (friend or foe) with the most life points.

- Mana Cap: 20.

- Useable Summoners: Only Death Element Summoners and Dragon Element Summoners can be used.

My Battle Formation

The maximum number of cards that can be deployed in battle is 7 (1 summoner + 6 monsters)

I chose to deploy 5 monster cards (in order of position):

Haunted Spirit - Furious Chicken - Fiendish Harpy - Tortisian Chief - Fire Spitter

Daria Dragonscale (Summoner)

First position: For the first position I chose to deploy Haunted Spirit (level 5).

Haunted Spirit (level 5) is one of the death element cards I use the most when mana is low like in the battle of this post because it has great combat stats and only costs 5 mana points.

It plays well in first position because it has a good number of life points (9 life points) and has the Heal ability that allows it to restore two life points each round of the battle.

My Haunted Spirit also has a second ability: Magic Reflect which is very useful when your opponent fields cards with magic attacks.

In the battle of this post, the latter ability isn't useful because my opponent doesn't have magic cards.

Combined with the Daria Dragonscale Summoner, Hauted Spirit's attack is increased by one.

Second position: In second position I have Furious Chicken (Gold - level 3).

Furious Chicken is always a useful card to deploy as protection for important cards and in fact its function is to protect Fiendish Harpy (level 4) from enemy card attacks and deploying Furious Chicken in second position is particularly useful when your opponent is deploying cards with Blast ability but this is not the case in this battle.

Third position: In third position I put the card Fiendish Harpy (level 4).

Very useful card that I often use when I'm low on mana.

Its usefulness increases when the battle rule is Equalizer because it loses one of its weak points: 3 life points.

In fact, in battle it gains 8 life points and becomes a harder card to eliminate.

It has two very good abilities: Flying and Opportunity.

Fourth position: In fourth position I deployed Tortisian Chief (level 4).

Tortisian Chief (level 4) is a very useful card especially when the battle requires using summoners of the element of death because there is only one card of the element of death that has the Tank Heal ability (Corrupted Pegasus - level 3).

Thanks to Tortisian Chief's Tank Heal ability, the Haunted Spirit card has a much better chance of not being eliminated because it will have a total of 4 points restored each round.

It also has a very good magic attack: 2 points of attack.

Fifth position: In fifth position I chose to field Fire Spitter (level 3).

It's a good card to play in the last position because it has a good speed (4 points) which in combination with the Flying ability guarantees good chances to avoid one or more attacks.

It has a good ranged attack (3 points), a good number of life points (5 points) and has a very low mana cost considering its battle stats: it costs only 4 mana points.

***

As Summoner I chose Daria Dragonscale (level 4).

Thanks to Daria Dragonscale's ability, my melee attack cards increase attack points by one unit.

Battle Considerations

in this battle I start with a relative advantage in total attack points while my opponent starts the battle with a relative advantage in total life points + armour points:

- my opponent has a lower total attack points than me (11 vs 7).

- I have a total of life + armour points equal to 40 points while my opponent has a total of life + armour points of 45 points.

During Round 1 my opponent loses the card in first position: Haunted Spirit.

I, on the other hand, am left with all my starting cards still in play.

At the start of Round 2, I have increased my attack point advantage and my opponent has only one point more life total.

During Round 2 my opponent loses his second card and at the start of Round 3 he is left with only three cards and only three total attack points.

By now my lead is big and the battle ends on the sixth turn of Round 4.

This battle shows:

- the importance of upgrading your cards: my opponent has all level 1 cards while the lowest level of my cards is level 3.

- the importance of starting with a higher total of attack points than your opponent

- the usefulness of having at least one card with the Tank Heal ability that allows the card in first position to become more difficult to eliminate.

Final Considerations on Fire Spitter

Fire Spitter is a very useful card because it costs very little in terms of money and mana.

Even starting at level 1, Fire Spitter has good combat stats: 2 ranged attack points and 4 speed points.

Very useful especially when the battle rule is Little League: only cards that have a mana cost of 4 points or less can be deployed in battle.

Is Fire Spitter a good buy?

For the above reasons and given the current price on the market I recommend Fire Spitter especially to new players who have few cards in their card collection because Fire Spitter is a card that can be used very often and plays well in last position.

In my opinion, the combat rules favorable to using the Fire Spitter card in battle are mainly:

- Eartquake: Fire Spitter has the Flying ability that makes it immune to the negative effects of the earthquake.

- Close Range: Fire Spitter can also attack from the first position.

- Lost Legendaries: Without the ability to field legendary cards, epic cards gain value and become a more viable choice.

- Aim true: Fire Spitter's attack cannot be avoided.

- Little League: Without the ability to play cards that cost more than 4 mana, Fire Spitter becomes a very good choice.
