Modern-day parents, do you teach your kids household chores? Believe me, when we became parents, we wanted to give the world to our child or children. I am right, right? But during our childhood, we hated to sweep the floor, or wipe the furniture, etc. And we came up with a lot of excuses just to avoid the household chores. I, for, one, am guilty and I regretted not learning them during my younger years but I did learn household chores later part of my life. Ladies, and gents, we should prepare our children for the world, not the world for our children. If you don't agree with me. It's fine, but who will be there when you or your partner face an untimely death? Will your child survive? Perhaps they will but the adjustments might be difficult for them. Why not teach them while they are young? It doesn't hurt, does it? I didn't mean teaching your child how to cook at age 1. Anyways, have you watched on Youtube that video where the mother has cancer? She taught her child how to cook their family recipe every day since the baby started walking. She only had 4 years to live, until the day she passed away. At the age of 4 or 5, the child already knows how to cook. This doesn't have to happen to us. Let us teach our kids household chores that are age-appropriate. But before I continue the discussion, here are the most awesome people I have met here on read. They believed in me and gave me the confidence to pursue entertaining my audience. Please give their profiles a minute of your time and you'll be amazed by their stories. Where are we? Oh yeah, in the household chores you can teach your kids. Here they are: **Fixing the bed** This can be done after praying in the morning. When I taught Bam about this, she asked "Why do I have to fix my bed? I am going back to sleep in the evening anyways". I answered, "Fixing the bed is training for you to become orderly, arrange disorganized things inside the house and your life". The explanation may have been deep but she understood. Now her bed is organized most of the time. **Cleaning up after playing** This is super easy and even toddlers could do it. Encourage your kids to clean their mess after playing. This will teach them to be responsible by looking after themselves. I personally don't like it when I clean someone else's dirt so I taught my eldest to clean up. She should be okay when she grows up. **Putting plates and utensils on the table** Just make sure they are big enough to carry the plates, otherwise the utensils alone. Supervise your kids though to avoid accidents. Kids love to be helpful. Praise them when they are done. **Sweeping the floor** The floor doesn't have to be clean when they sweep. Let them experience and teach them how to do it properly. They'd be a pro in no time. Remember to not criticize them, they might lose confidence next time they do it. **Cooking rice** In the province, kids are trained to cook rice as early as 7 or 8 using firewood. Scary, right? I learned when I was 9. My rice was burnt and uncooked. I cried first before my sisters figured it out so my papa will defend me. It worked. We now have rice cookers making it easier to do the chore. Remind your kid though to be careful when plugging the rice cooker. I just wish I could add more but I am still sick. I don't really wanna miss publishing but health comes first. I will catch up when everything's back to normal in the house And it made me realize that I should initiate some changes here so we could all be healthier and ready when sickness comes. Thank you, my friends, for reading this article. I appreciate every second of your time. 100 times agree with you. They really needed to be taught. Specially the food cooking is the most important.
Yes, my dear cousin. But Bam needs to learn herself because I am not an expert..Hmm, can you teach her?
Definitely. Love to do that.
Thank you.
Yes I'm teaching my daughter to do her chores herself, many a times I do it myself but if i ask her, she would gladly help me :))
Aww, you got a sweet and helpful daughter dear sis.
My mother always teaching me house hold chores, all of us member of the family needs to perform house hold chores, to avoid chaos.
Heheh I know right, when siblings fight against washing the dishes hehehe..
I will definitely teach my children how to do house chores, it's a must. My parents taught me well, I'm male yet I can sweep, wash dishes, clothes and do every necessary house chores. I don't think house chores should be gender specific, both male and female children should be taught equally.
Here in the metro, kids are very spoiled that is why I prefer someone who grows up from the province because they are more dependable, generally :D
Get well soon sis and your baby, kami eto bumabawi pa lang, mabuti tatlo lang kami sa bahay kung nagkataong marami kami mas mahirap.
Hehe 9 kami sa bahay sis. Lahat kami tinamaan, sunod sunod pami pamilya din. Buti na lang last kaming 2 ni Saoirse. May ubo pa kami lahat.
Grabe sis, hawaan talaga yan walang ligtas kahit sino, ako nga inassume ko na tinamaan kami ni omicron pero at least mabilis din nawala, may ubo pa din ung anak ko. More on water lang talaga
Ganun din sila dito sis. Ang iniisip ko if Omicron yun kawawa ang mga hindi bakunado kasi delikado parin sya. I guess we will not know unless may nagpa antigen or RT PCR.
Start them young ika nga. I'll save this for reference when my Lil b grows up
Aww thanks my friend. There are a lot of references online too :D
They're really important. If we don't teach them from a young age, there's a big chance they'll be spoiled and won't grow up to be fully independent.
Yes sis, I didn't learn chores at a young age, it was difficult for me to adjust. I don't want it to happen to my daughters.
You're doing the right thing. To teach children to work is a way to express themselves and learn their abilities. It is an inoculation against laziness and a powerful impetus. A child who is accustomed from childhood to work, both voluntary and feasible, has all the chances of success in adulthood. From childhood we shape our little one to be organized, to be patient.
Thank you, my dear friend. I am glad that someone is also supporting me on this one.
Nowadays, parents want to bring the whole world in the hands of their children. But our children should taught socialism, should taught the house work that will give them a lot more in the future. And yes mate i am agree with you.
Sadly, my dear Mazekin the parents nowadays are slaves of their kids.
