Chinese symbol of love: Butterfly
The butterfly is associated with beauty and tenderness in our region, while in China it is one of the strongest symbols of love. Especially the youthful, innocent and unrestrained ones. Just looking at this cheerful insect is enough to understand the background of this association: its flight from flower to flower is a clear display of the connections that man makes with his environment on a daily basis. However, the Chinese see in the butterfly not only a picture of human social life, but also a picture of the most hidden human aspiration, which reads - to stay forever young, at least in the heart!
One of the most beautiful but also the saddest Chinese love legends is related to butterflies. The plot of this legend is set in the time of the Yin dynasty, when education was not available to women, and the main heroine of the story is a talented young girl who goes to school in a big city. Although she was disguised as a man, that didn't stop her from falling in love with a young man with whom she shared a school desk soon after arriving at school, and you guessed it - the young man also fell madly in love with his girlfriend! However, as rarely does anyone have an understanding for youthful love, the girl is against her will, and at the request of her father, she had to agree to an arranged marriage. When the young man she met at school and to whom her heart truly belonged, he soon fell ill and died of great disappointment and great sorrow for his beloved, and the girl visited his grave on the day of her marriage and wept bitterly. Then, according to the legend, a butterfly flew out of the grave, and at the same time the girl herself turned into a butterfly. Together they flew to meet the rainbow that appeared in the sky, and since then they have been inseparable in their free flight.
It is in the legend of Butterflies in Love that we see the unbreakable and often invisible connection that (if it is true love) must exist between two people. In China, all romantic souls are very well acquainted with this fact, so the symbol of two butterflies is what is most often given to couples who are just entering into a romantic relationship. We repeat, the emphasis is on youthful love, on romantic relationships with a lot of fun, on intense contacts, socializing, getting to know each other. Some would call these relationships casual, frivolous, and transient relationships, but we would rather call them - relationships that relate to the period before the family was formed.
Feng Shui's advice is to place this symbol next to the bed in the bedroom in order to encourage some new connections, and strengthen the already existing ones. Butterflies in the home also have the ability to fulfill our dreams, bring joy and harmony, but also to improve our sex life. We see an action of an emotional nature in it, so it is quite logical that it is directly related to the Yang principle. In other words, butterflies have the ability to emit Yang energy and in that way remind us that love, just like in the legend, does not care about difficulties, but in the end finds its way, and finally - brings victory.
