What I love from where I live is the location. The public market, as well as several supermarkets are accessible. Parks and the beach is within 1 kilometer vicinity. I used to jog and walk in Maramba Boulevard Park which is just 100 meters from home. At times, I go to the Baywalk which is around 500 meters from where I live.
There's another place in our town where to exercise. It's Narciso Ramos Sports Complex, which is 1 kilometer from our home.
Narciso Ramos Sports Complex was constructed around 1994 as a preparation for Palarong Pambansa, as the province hosts the sports event for the first time. At that time, the country's President is Fidel Ramos, who's a native of the town of Lingayen. It's one of the legacy of the former President in our town.
The sports complex has hosted Palarong Pambansa for the second time in 2012, and other sports events including Milo Olympics, etc. It was also used as evacuation center for people living nearby, and those within the town.
Good for morning walks and jogging. This rubberized track oval was used as a training ground for track and field athletes who competed for Southeast Asian Games in 2019.
We have a beautiful weather at that time. Despite the sunny weather, it was cold because this was captured in December 2019, before Coronavirus extended to global scale.
Playing in the basketball courts is free. Thus, there are groups of people playing here. Aside from basketball courts, there are volleyball and badminton courts in this area.
The grandstand was well-maintained after more than a decade since its construction. It has a sitting capacity of about 16,000, and I'm not sure about the original capacity as an extension was made to accommodate more audience. Inside the grandstand, there are dormitories which can accommodate hundreds. There are shower rooms too. I'm not sure if the gym is still there.
I went up the grandstand to go up and down the stairs. I advise to take it slowly if you're not used to stairs. I've been catching my breath afterwards.
I miss this area because we've been watching the intramurals of our school in this spot two decades ago. Also, we used to have our assemblies and conventions here, and I'm bearing with the heat of the sun until I was covered by the shadow of the roofs.
This is the view while at the highest area of the grandstand. That mountain range is a part of the Zambales Mountains. It was windy at that time so I stayed there for around 5 minutes.
I went down the grandstand to continue walking in the oval, and I saw this elderly couple. They're the description of the song "Grow Old With You".
There are a number of facilities in the sports complex. That building in the background is a gymnasium which can accommodate 2,500 persons. Conferences and assemblies are also held there, as well as housing evacuees when there are disasters. The building at the left is the bowling alley. It was also used for events with minimal audience. At the south of the complex, there's a pool for swimming competitions. It is also open for swimming during summer, and the entrance fee is affordable.
Inside the complex is a lagoon which was often visited by the locals especially in the afternoon. Its water is connected to the beach so it's not really stagnant.
The pavements surrounding the lagoon. There are benches for the visitors too. There are cars parked at the right as the building nearby is the office of the complex's administration. A tennis court is also located nearby.
The buildings of Pangasinan National High School can be seen from the complex. That's where I graduated in high school. There's also a restaurant at the right of the picture. Another restaurant is also operational which is close to the gymnasium.
There's a hanging bridge in the lagoon. It reminded me of my childhood when we used to play there after our assembly. The bridge has been there since the construction of the complex.
That's all folks! Thank you for reading, and huge thanks to my sponsors below:
