One step at a time

16 September 2021

Last July 9-25, we attended a 17 days Cell Leaders' Training, an international virtual conference from our church.

It was meant to call us to still make disciple and to make use of all available platforms even at this time of pandemic. Because as a Christian, as a follower of Christ, we are called to make disciple and to do ministry, just like how Jesus called the apostles.

Also, the main highlight of the conference is to be the new testament church, now!

By being the new testament church, as most of us know, new testament on the bible contains how Jesus lived here on earth. Therefore, being the new testament church means imitating the way how Jesus lived because we believe that Christ have set us a standard on how we should live, and that's His life and we should follow it.

We also remembered His great commission that can be found on Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and said to them, β€œAll authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” ESV

It was such a loud wake up call to all of us that this pandemic is not a reason to perform the great commission. To cut the story short, while in the middle of the conference, with the grace of God, we already started moving, we already started sharing the gospel so that it'll reach all the people.

My brother in law is always taking a walk around the market every morning looking for people whom he can share the gospel.

Also, we made a move to reach out to our neighbors and engage them to have a cell group, just a small bible study.

And praise God for entrusting us 3 households around the neighborhood. My sister is handling the women, my brother in law is teaching the guys, and I am handling the teenage girls.

At first, reaching out was hard. Specially that we have different religions. But just like what Jesus said on His great commission, that He will be with us always. So with God's promise and the confidence that it is the Holy Spirit that will speak for us, we decided to push through with sharing the gospel. After all, it is not the religion that we are offering but the relationship that they can have with God if they will only accept it.

And so, praise God for they have accepted us on their home and most importantly, they accepted Jesus as their Lord and savior.

Next step that we do is to have a follow up with them at least once a week so that their relationship with God would be established. It wasn't easy at first but with the grace of God, step by step, patienty teaching them, patiently catching their attention and patiently teaching thek everything, after more than 2 months of following them up regularly, we can see now that they are growing and their relationship with God is being established.

Actually, the other family has truly opened their lives, their house and their pockets for us by hosting the dinner last Tuesday, September 7.

It was so nice that after feeding our souls with God's word, there comes very good physical foods that satiates our stomach.

I was also blessed with the other family that we visited last Friday, September 10. God is just so amazing for His works can truly be seen in their lives as the members of the family boldly said their praise items and answered prayers. They shared how God was so good to them since they have accepted the gospel.

We are growing weekly too for they keep on inviting their other relatives to join the cell group and to know God more.

So really, it wasn't easy but with patience, prayer and God's reliance, we can now see some progress on the lives of these families. And I can't wait to see them grow more to God and I can't wair for them to be my co-workers in Christ.

It wasn't a one time process where we share the gospel and that they are already on their own. No, it doesn't work like that. We have invested our time and resources for them. They are hesitant at first, they welcomed us yes but there was still a gap so we have to fill that up. And thankfully, we succesfully made it. I just really can't wait to see all of them to go all out in Christ too.

As of now, we already teach them about reading the bible and doing their daily devotion so that they can also encounter God personally aside from their prayers. And it was nice seeing them really doing the word to have a better relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Praise God for their lives! Praise God for using our lives to bring the message of salvation to them. We continue to pray to reach more souls, to keep on making disiciples and to continue to do ministry.

I am just so blessed to be one of the workers of Christ. Glory to God!

Hey folks! Thanks for reading this far. And if in any case, you're still now aware of the gospel, here's it: The Bridge of Life

Thank you for sharing the word of God Mary. πŸ’— Truly it is not easy to share the word of God as we have different religion, but I love how you said it is not the religion but the relationship we have for Him. Hopefully those families that allowed God to enter in their lives will continue doing so and will not close any doors.

God bless you more, Mary! πŸ’—

All glory and praises to God! And indeed, this is really not about religion, religion will not save us, Jesus will, God will.

Hoping and praying too that they'll grow more in Christ. It took us so many years back then and our leader was truly patient to us. So yeah, this might take time until they became fruit bearing Christians but we just gotta be more patient.
