Sushi Zanmai Yee Sang
Today I revisit Sushi Zanmai to try another dish. This Japanese restaurant is located at Avenue K Mall if you want to visit it.
I decided to come here to try out their yee sang which yesterday just begin to be available to order, I order a small size Yee Sang. It cost RM26.80 per plate with service tax included.
Yee Sang also known as lo sahng is a Cantonese-style raw fish salad that only appears during Chinese New Year. It usually consists of strips of raw fish (sometimes salmon), mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients.
The Sushi Zanmai version contains carrots, cucumber, radish, seasoned seaweed salad, pickled daikon radish and salmon slices. It come with 1 small bowl of sesame oil and 1 small bowl of orange syrup. Overall, this dish when I eat have this "nature" feeling. Hard to explain why maybe because it didn't use the plum sauce.
Yee Sang is often served as part of a multi-dish dinner, usually as the appetizer due to its symbolism of "good luck" for the new year.
Normally after it is served on the table, everyone will stand up and proceed to toss the shredded ingredients into the air with chopsticks while saying various "auspicious wishes" out loud, or simply "lo hei, lo hei" meaning "scoop it up, scoop it up"). It is believed that the height of the toss reflects the height of the diners' growth in fortunes, thus diners are expected to toss enthusiastically.
Wow i really like this restaurant, nice theme and i love the table so neat, I really admire the food but i admire more the store so beautiful
