He sat on a bench in the playground in a place that could be considered the center of the city. Although he seemed to be looking around, he was busy with the thoughts running through his mind.

He had just received his pension and was calculating how he would pay off the accumulated debts, but it was impossible for anyone outside to understand this. It was only his own war of livelihood that caused him to contemplate.

He was startled by the sound of a phone ringing at that time, and he came out of his thoughts and faced the reality of the park he was sitting in.

Although the ringing melody does not belong to his own phone; β€œThe grandson must have changed his ringtone again,” he muttered, checking to check, but it wasn't his own phone that was ringing.

Looking carefully around the bench he was sitting on, he saw the phone with a cracked screen on the other end of the bench. It was he who stole; Leaning over him, he brought his face closer to the phone.

When he got close enough, he saw the text "my mother" on the cracked screen phone ringing. He hesitated for a short while whether to pick up his phone or not, as he looked around.

When no one made a move towards the phone, he took it in his hand and pressed the green button.

-Hello, hello

A deep, rough voice echoed in the playground and in the caller's ears.

Realizing that the voice did not belong to her son, a tearful voice was heard, barely intelligible between her sobs.

+Who are you? Where is my son? In the hospital? Please tell me the truth?

With each question, her crying voice grew deeper.

-Please calm down! I'm sitting on a bench in a downtown park. When the phone on the bench rang, I saw that "my mother" was written on the caller section, and I had to pick up the phone. There's no one here, so I guess your son must have dropped the phone or forgot it! There is a market across the park, I will leave the phone there and you will receive it from there.

The tearful voice gave way to some relief and was clearer.

+No, please do not hang up. My son is 9 years old, he didn't come home from school. I called because I was curious. It's on the park road you mentioned, if you take a better look around maybe you can see it!

The old man stood up, turned around and looked everywhere he could see. Up ahead, he saw a group of children playing and a few of them riding bicycles.

At the same time, he told the woman on the other end of the phone what he had seen. The woman cleverly told the old man her son's name.

+His name is Fuat, if you call him by his name and if he is among the players, he will come towards you.

Pulling the phone from his ear, the old man called out loudly, "Fuat, Fuat, Fuat…" a few times, and then succumbed to the cough that started and fell on the bench.

His loud yelling triggered his weak lungs, causing him to cough. The woman, who was trying to understand what was going on only with the voices reflected on her from the phone, knew that she had no choice but to wait in complete despair and helplessness.

Approaching with a bicycle, the boy in school uniform asked the old man, "Did you call me?" but he did not get any answer.

The old man found the strength to hold out the phone to the boy, accompanied by coughing.

Fuat realized that the phone belonged to him. Now aware that he had done something bad and regretful, he held the phone to his ear.

The mother, comfortable to hear her son's voice, scolded the questions one after the other and forwarded them to Fuat.

+ Where has he been since he left school, why don't you come to the right house? Don't you know that I'm going to worry about you? Why isn't your phone in your pocket? Phone left on the bench? Can't you think that this selfishness you did today will be your punishment?

Each question was asked in a harsher tone than the previous one. Fuat said in an extremely fearful tone, "I'm sorry mom, I'm immersed in the game. Not again.''

+ Thank the old man next to you, your phone could have been stolen, if it wasn't for him I would have died of curiosity. Give me the phone and I'll personally thank him!

Fuat is more fearful and panicked, "The old man doesn't move, mom!"

The woman remembers her last coughing attack and tells Fuat that she has to hang up and wait there.

While She is running towards the park, she calls the emergency services on the phone and asks for an ambulance to the park. When she reaches the park, she sees the assembled crowd and the flashing ambulance. As she gets closer, she witnesses a body bagged person being put in an ambulance.

He searches for and finds his son Fuat in the crowd that can't hold back his tears. He hugs Fuat without saying anything and takes his hand and walks away from the park with fast steps.

We never know when our time of death will come, that is why it is best that we try to be good at all times so we don't die doing a bad deed.

The lesson I learned from the story is be a blessing to others everyday. That's a merit to us when we are about to leave this world. The old man is fortunate because he did something good before going to die.
