Heroes, Superheroes: Superpowers

Hey people... How are you guys doing?. I felt it was time I dropped a new article, and this time it'll be on something I'm passionate about, fiction especially the aspect of superheroes.

Not everyone would be able to relate; sure...... but being a superhero doesn't mean you have to wear a cape or mask or something, nope that isn't exactly what superheroes are all about or believing that one needs to have superhuman abilities also. Still no, well batman is a testiment to the fact that you don't need superpowers to be a hero (just in case there are comic lovers on here and they see this and think I'm a dc fan; nope I'm not I love dc sure but I'm with Marvel till the end of the line).

Now I move to what this article is going to be about.

What does it mean to be a superhero

Sometimes it can't really be differentiated from being a hero depending on how people look at it, and being a hero is to do somwthing remarkable in ones life in his/her field of calling(simplified meaning). A superhero is someone who puts the lives of others above his own does whatever he takes to make sure the innocent ones are safe.

With that said I can link a superhero with a hero asides the word hero being present in both cases, take a look at a soldier for instance fights for his country to protect the civilians from harm, said soldier would be seen as a superhero to his/her child or other relatives of theirs. But to an ordinary non-related civilian he'd just be a hero, so based on perspective said soldier is a hero and a superhero.

A good cop in a situation where he saves lives, protects the innocent from the "bad guys" is most definitely a superhero, his/her job daily is to put their life on the line to protect others #SUPERHERO#

Digression

I create and design superheroes, yes the kind with superpowers, masks, capes and tights (No underwear on the outside though thats pretty lame lool). But wouldn't it just be absolutely great to be able to fly, run faster than the speed of light leap to heights unimaginable by mere mortals etc. It'll be a dream come true for humanity to possess such abilities, not just seeing it in a movie or animation and just wondering what it'd be like.

Superpowers

I have no doubt in my mind that if we possess superhuman abilities life would be completely different, everything would change but frankly not for the better, by nature we humans are greedy self centered beings I know for a fact that 99% of those who would get said abilities would be villains rather than heroes. people would go "I have all the power in the world so I can just take what I want, who's going to stop me".

But even then in the darkest of hours heroes are born people with kind and loving hearts would rise up to meet the challenge no doubt. But the real question would be would they succeed, with how I see life work it is so unfair the bad guys always seem to win where as the good guys end up joining the bad (frankly I might end up a supervillain myself if I developed superpowers cause indeed who's going to stop me lool).

Reaction to real life superheroes

One thing marvel comics did that I believe would really happen in a real life superhero scenario is how people react to those with powers(as seen with the mutants of the marvel universe), they would feel threatened by these powered being, and ultimately persecute them.

We've seen how humans react to people of different color, ethnic groups, etc. We as a species do not respond well to those that are different, we often hate what we do not understand, even though deep down we're all the same its really pathetic I know.

Being the best we can

Now all that said about hereos, superpowers & superheroes, we all can make our lives better if we all just put aside our differences and realise that we're all one species no matter our color or race or whatever.

We don't need to have special abilities to be special, there is this quote that has been stuck in my head for a long time

When all the chips come down to it, we can all be heroes in our own lives if only we have the courage to try..... Beautiful ain't it?.
