I have always wanted to have my own business in the future. But, this pandemic kind of changed my perception a little bit. Online businesses became famous and it made me think of having one too because it seemed more suitable for the current situation.

Now, I am interested engaging in online business. Why?

Unlike traditional businesses, there is no need to put up physical stores. Constructing or renting would be too costly while doing online business only requires putting up a website or even using established e-commerce platforms that provides avenue for online business owners. Some even use social media like Facebook and Instagram to transact.

Putting up branches as a physical store would need a lot of legal fees as there would be different business regulations and permits that we need to comply. It’s also hard to find and secure a location for your shop. While online business have lesser restrictions and promoting online business would also be less expensive with the use of social media platforms.

Moreover, the benefit of online business is its convenience. It is easier to transact with customers through online messaging. There is also flexibility in working hours. There would be no need to wake up everyday, prepare products and maintain any physical store.

Yes, online business is cheaper and more convenient than putting up physical stores.

I prefer to put up an online business because of lesser cost. With the money I will earn from my online business, I would then have the capability to establish branches.

Additionally, at this present time, we are still in a pandemic. It would not be advisable to put up a store, considering health restrictions. Even in the future, we would still have these health protocols to prevent another pandemic. Thus, it is better to conduct an online business to limit physical interactions and follow health standards.

But what should you do first before starting up one?

Before entering online business, decide first of what business you want.

Formulate business ideas through observations, inquiries and research of your market. Narrow the ideas on what is more convenient for you. Check the feasibility of your business through research and survey. Make sure you choose the right product to offer.

After finalizing your business idea, make a business plan.

Planning is very important in starting up a business to avoid failure. Plan your operations, your initial capital and expected expenses. This business plan would also include your marketing and advertising plan. A well-planned promotion strategy is very important. You should make sure that you are well-versed in social media platforms and make use of them.

Take necessary actions, especially legal and financial matters.

Secure your funding and spend according to your budget in your business plan. See if there are needed state requirements to ensure that your business is lawful.

Set up a website. You can also make use of e-commerce platforms for convenience.

You can also start in social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Make sure you have an attractive logo design, business name and layouts which you have already established in your business plan. Make your business attractive and appealing.

Connect with and attract potential customers.

Ask your friends to share your business to their friends. This way, your business will spread.

Overall, planning is the key.

In your business plan, you would have laid out everything you need – business name, logo, operations, finances, budgets, promotions and maintenance. The execution would be smoother if the plan is comprehensive and well-prepared.
