How to distinguish critical thinking from propaganda !
Nowadays, there is a lot of propaganda, it's hard to distinguish the truth from the lie, from fake to real, from legit to scam. That's why we have always to train our critical thinking and to understand if someone is just sharing his/her opinion, or being a brainwashed person by the mass media and other types of propaganda tools.
Of course, it's not that easy to find the truth and that demands a lot of work consuming a lot of information and analyzing, and linking the most trustful sources all together to come with the thesis. And even after that, it's possible to not be sure about the position we take. Because even those trustful sources, can just change their minds or start sharing the opposite information depending on their life experience or just letting other reasons to impact his/her mind.
There are many types of mass control. It's a big science. We have during the history many experiments with the crow. And there are those who still experimenting, playing and trying new and new methods to affect the actions of people. And the most powerful emotion is fear. That's why propaganda spread it among people when they want to put any type of idea in society. And in such state we may accept almost anything. I found a great video about that, you can watch it here :
So, how to distinguish critical thinking from propaganda ?
I think it's clear when someone is trying to push his/her agenda. Especially if they support the narrative. We should always think about what they share. One of the indicator of the lack of critical thinking is that the person shows so many emotions. Especially the same wave of emotion is shared in every single comment, post or article, video or podcast he/she shares. Healthy thinking is when we don't just take a side blindly, but find as many arguments and proofs that support our opinion.
Another indicator is when the person start to discuss your personality, name, race or anything else related to you, but not the topic you talked about. Such people may always find the reason behind your position, instead of proving you're wrong. And usually they give names to those who don't agree with them. Because that's what was spread in the narrative to make them ready to link the opposition with the non-accepted characteristics by society.
And the other pointer to brainwashing, is trying to discredit all those who assumes the possibility of an opposite idea. So, a real nonsense will be spread among people. Then those people will be called with names, then any of that will be related to anyone who criticize the idea that serves those who are in charge of all this disinformation. It's maybe hard to understand, but that's how things usually work. And you may find this usually in politics. Some events are even created by purpose to kill the critical thinking at all.
It's sometimes even scary to write or say an opinion about a hot topic. Because that may lead to losing good friends, losing support and even gaining some enemies.
That could be the price of awakening and if you are ready to pay it, you may find very interesting information to consume, people to be in touch with, what may lead to changing your life categorically.
