The greatest splendor of water and forest greenery in Slavonia and its greatest natural pearl refers to the area of ​​the Kopački rit Nature Park. The park includes a wetland around the confluence of the Drava and the Danube near Osijek with an area of ​​238 hectares, which has remained in a completely natural state since ancient times due to inaccessibility and exposure to floods.

Kopački rit is also one of the largest natural wetlands in Europe, which is why it is included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of World Importance and proposed for inclusion in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List. Large herds of deer are a kind of trademark of Kopački rit, although herds of wild boars are equally large.

There are other mammals in Kopački rit, but there are still many more birds, of which there are almost 300 different species, and the most important are the very rare protected species of bald eagles and black storks.

Kopački rit Nature Park can be easily reached by car from the nearby largest Slavonian city of Osijek and enjoy the pristine Pannonian ambience of swamps, forests and flooded fields.

But it is best to visit it on excursion boats, which can also be drawn into shallow swampy backwaters. The beauties of the Park can also be enjoyed by tourists who sail on large river cruisers along the Danube, which forms the eastern border of this magnificent nature park.
