I was so sure that it was a lizard looking at me while I was washing the dishes the other night. But then... It turned around and it was actually a tiny frog! 🐸 It's so small, not bigger than my thumb. Perhaps it's still a baby frog? This cute little frog is different from the ones that I usually see hiding in my flower pots. Those have bumpy backs and have a more dreary, brownish color. This one, on the other hand, looks shiny. It has a glistening skin the color of deep bronze. How cute is that? Plus, it's much slimmer and could climb on walls. I didn't want to leave it trapped inside our house, so I got a plastic cup and caught it. Then, I set it free outside -- all the while, my daughter and I were squealing because we were so scared that it would jump on us 😁😆 #AnimalLovers

I don't know what insect this is, but it looked like it was doing some kind of weird dance. It found its way inside the house, which is a bad idea because it might die in here. If it fails to find its way out, I'll then have to sweep it towards the door and to its freedom. I've seen this bug around the garden. It flies and crawls, but what I really like is its color. Don't you just love the jewel-like, metallic shimmer of its exoskeleton? It reminds me of the luster of beads. Perhaps it is from the beetle family? Many kinds of beetles have this type of coloration. Am I right? 🐞 I do love taking photos of insects, but my biggest fear is having them jump on me. I will probably scream like a crazy banshee. 😁😂 #WeirdInsects

While on a video call with the husband last night, he was munching on these. I was envious because, even though I've never tasted persimmons, I have this idea in my head that they do taste wonderful. He teased me and told me that he'll take a picture for my #noise instead. Since we live in a tropical country, fruits like these don't come by often. If there are, they don't look as fresh and are also very pricy. Some we only see in cans. I've seen persimmons in videos, especially in Korean-dramas where the characters eat them dried. The fruits have some sort of dusting of white powder, which I assume is sugar. Every time people take a bite, they close their eyes in delight. I want to have that experience too... Someday. I wish I could go back and visit South Korea. 💕 What about you? What fruits have you never tried but wish to taste? 🙂 #Fruits

Woke up to find this boi intently listening to the conversations of passers-by. What a nosy boi! Our local term here is "tsismoso" 😁 or nosy - someone who loves to listen to and even spread rumours. Thankfully, the sun's been out since yesterday. I have missed its warmth, but it does get too hot (not complaining ☺️). This reminds me of how it's natural for people to often complain when they want something and they get too much of that something. (I wouldn't complain though if it's money or jewelry or perhaps great stocks from Apple or some other well-established company.) Speaking of stocks, I would prefer to buy stocks than invest money on get-rich-quick schemes. A lot of people from our province have collectively lost billions of pesos just about a week ago as they have beem victimized by "repa" which is a Ponzi scheme. I usually stay away from these kinds of "investments" no matter how "attractive" the interest rate seems to be. It is stuck in my head that if the ROI (return on investment) is too good to be true, then it must be. Well, now that it's done and the administrators of these repa schemes have run off with billions/millions, I just hope and pray that the victims will get justice. My heart goes out to them. You could feel the desperation through FB. My feed is filled with "rush sales" of gadgets, cars, and land so that the resellers of these repa slots could reimburse the money of the victims, which means giving the victims their own money so that they will not go to jail. How sad and frustrating. 😔🙏

Look what I found! It's a cocoon on our door screen 💕 the caterpillar looks hairy and it seems like it's not done with its cocoon yet because I could still see through it. But I don't know. Maybe it's done and this is it. 👍 Although I would hate to find caterpillars on my plants, it's exciting for me to find this cocoon. It is a sign of hope and possibilities, and I can't wait to see what it's going to morph into. Is it a moth or a butterfly? What kind? 🐛🦋 Today, the sun's also out. I missed it ☀️❣️ #BeautyOfNature

Taken yesterday at noon.... The weather has been dreary for a couple of days now. Dark clouds cover the sky and the wind is so gusty that some of my plants have gotten uprooted. I learned that there is a storm. Although our province is not in the direct path of this tropical depression, we are experiencing some of the wind and rain it's carrying. To those who are directly affected by the storm, I pray for protection. The wind is quite strong here, and I believe it's even stronger in those areas. Today, it's still all gray and windy, with occasional short periods of heavy rain, though the sun has been peeking now and then. Here's to praying and hoping for a sunnier tomorrow. ☀️⛈️ #Weather

My seed-grown, almost 4-year-old astrophytum myriostigma... Oh goodness! I could cry 😭 my puppy dug it out and played with it. I only discovered it this morning. I am so angry and disappointed 😭 I will replant this and place this indoors. It was outside, planted in my makeshift plant box with other cacti and succulents. My spiny cacti are safe, but this one sustained damage because it doesn't have spines at all. I feel so bad for my astro. Among 30 seeds (i think) only 2 survived, and this one is the bigger survivor, in terms of size and health. The other smaller astro is safe coz it's beside a spiny cactus. I feel sad and angry. What a way to start this rainy, dreary morning. 😔

I made a salad for lunch yesterday using mixed papaya pickles, lettuce and singkamas, which is also known as Mexican turnip or jicama. It is a root crop with white flesh. You can eat it raw, which I prefer, or use it in veggie dishes or wraps. Jicama is quite cheap. It has a fresh, slightly sweet taste, like watered down honey. I also love the crunch it gives to salad and veggie dishes. It kinda reminds me of canned water chestnuts that my aunt likes to put in her chopsuey, which is a sauteed vegetable dish. As for the aftereffects of the vaccine, I only felt it on the second day. Just before lunch the other day, I felt warm all over and weary. My body felt heavy, and I had a headache too. But I deferred taking any medication since I didn't really have a fever. After an afternoon nap (I slept for almost the entire afternoon), I woke up feeling refreshed. I guess my body just needed a good sleep/rest, which the medical professionals did advice during the pre-vaccine consultation. Have a great day everyone. Had my first dose of Sinovac yesterday. I am thankful that I'm partly done because I had a lot of anxiety while thinking about it - would I have adverse/severe reactions to it? I often thought. Thankfully, I only feel some type of muscle soreness on the arm where the vaccination was given. I only began to feel it last night and not immediately after. I was a little anxious while in line yesterday. When they took my vital signs, my heart rate was up (114 bpm) and my blood pressure was 150/90. I have Captopril ready for my hypertension, as well as Cetirizine for any allergic reaction. I asked the nurse if I should take the meds, and she said there was no need. The nurse gave the vaccine on my left arm. I felt nothing, honestly. My last anti-tetanus shot was more painful. I walked home, as the vaccination site was only a 5-minute brisk walk from our house. When I got home, I washed and changed clothes. I ate a banana and had some rest. While lying down on the sofa, I felt my palms grow warm, like how one would feel before having a fever, but only slightly so. I napped, and when I woke up, I was fine. It wasn't only after bedtime when I felt some muscle soreness, which I still feel now. Other than that, I feel alright. Some people defer getting vaccinated because they want a certain brand. For me, however, it's about getting myself and my family protected. I don't care what brand I get as long as it will offer me protection especially since the Delta variant is already here. Who knows what other variants are coming? More importantly, it's to our benefit to be informed. I did some research and learned that, although Sinovac isn't that popular, it actually has a 90+ percent efficacy in terms of producing antibodies. The same with Moderna and Pfizer. This was from an FB post where an entire family had their antigen checked after they were given different kinds of vaccine. Two crucial things that should be remembered: 1) Do not get vaccinated if you are exhibiting signs and symptoms of Covid. 2) Do not allow yourself to be exposed after vaccination. If you get covid while also having the vaccine before or after infection, this will make your body doubly weak because any vaccination does stress our body and lower our resistance. That plus an active infection will make it difficult for our body to cope. 🙏💕👍 #Health

During the entire morning last Saturday, the sun was quite unforgiving. That coupled with heavy humidity that signalled the coming of rain made the heat suffocating. To top it off, there was a province-wide, 14-hour scheduled blackout. We all felt like we were baking in an oven. The heat was even too much for this pup. Wherever the rechargeable fan was, he was there too -- right in front of it, blocking the air 😁🐶 He was so restless because of the heat that he couldn't take his nap. So we got the small fan and placed it in front of him. Our other dogs are afraid of anything electronic. Kit-Quat is the only one who will put himself infront of the fan. 😁🐾

Thank you, my dear orchid, for blooming during this time. It was a nice surprise to see you with these exquisite flowers. This gives me hope as I've been feeling down for the past few days coz we recently found out that someone close to our family has ovarian cyst. The probability of it being malignant is high, according to her doctor. Cancer makes me scared. I lost my mother to ovarian cancer, and I've seen quite a few who have suffered because of it. That illness amid this Covid infection is more threatening than ever. This woman has become a close friend to me. She was only 13 when she came to our family. When she left to have her own family, we kept in touch. She's one of the very few people with whom I'd entrust with my daughter, and that says a lot since I only trust a select few. We pray for healing and strength for her and her entire family. 🙏🌼 #FlowerPicture

My sweet bois 🐶💕 they are American Bullies. The one with brindle fur is Grimm, and the black and white pup is Kit-Quat. They are quite close, and they are so cute when they're sleeping so close like this. Grimm has been with us for 6 years. He is the gentlest boi. We can easily take out anything that he has in his mouth, and he won't get mad. He'll just look at us in the most pitiful way, so we'll give him almost anything that he wants. He is adorable, but he is not one for cuddles. Yes, we could hug him. But he doesn't like too much affection. 💕 Kit-Quat will be 1 year old on December and is the complete opposite of Grimm because he is the cuddle bunny. When he sees my daughter on the sofa, he'll climb up and sleep beside her. When I cuddle with my daughter or give attention to Grimm, he wants to be included too. While Grimm is laid-back, Kit-Quat is the happy-go-lucky type. Our pets really have different personalities, much like people. When dealing with each of them, we have to take into consideration their unique traits too. These bois are just too precious. 🐾💕🐶 #LovelyAnimals

Mr. Frog is again hiding in my pot of caladium. I should be mad, but he can stay. It's been quite hot the past few days, so he likes it there coz it's cooler. The soil is damp and the area doesn't get too exposed to harsh sunlight. This frog is quite big, almost or the same size as my fist. It's back is bumpy and it's skin is brown, like the color of dirty pond water. But it's still cute. I just don't go too near coz I'm afraid that it'll jump on me. 🐸 There is also another frog that keeps visiting my garden. Its skin looks smooth and shiny, like polished bronze almost. It can also climb walls. It seems to be another kind of frog, but I have yet to take a photo of it. By the way, this is my pink beauty caladium. (or gypsy rose? They look almost the same, so I get confused.) It just woke up from hibernation. Pretty, right? 🌼💕 #PlantsPhotography

Spicy chicken curry... Surprisingly, my daughter loves curry. She also likes spicy noodles. But I think I was too generous with the chili powder here 😅 it's spicier than usual. Whenever I eat curry, I remember the friends I made when I worked as a nurse in Male, Maldives. Many were Indian who love curry and spicy food. Maldivians are the same too. They absolutely love spicy food. In fact, what I consider as quite spicy is already the "no spicy" dish for them. Still, I love their food. I can't forget this tuna dish that I usually eat in the cafeteria after night duty, as well as a rice dish that's riddled with thinly sliced chili, which is already the "no chili" order for me. 😁 It's fun reminiscing. That was the time of my life when I was the most adventurous. 💕 #FoodLove

Something Wicked This Way Comes... Planning on catching up on my reading. I usually buy books at second-hand shops. This way, they are cheaper and have more character. Don't you think? 🤓 I do have a few favorite authors, and I do try to collect their books. But this author isn't one of my faves. However, I remember his name from an assigned reading that we had in college. We read a short story that Ray Bradbury wrote, "There Will Come Soft Rains." The story made such an impact on me that I've never forgotten it. Check it out please if you have time. When I saw his name on this book at the second-hand bookstore, I just knew I had to buy it. I have no idea what to expect from this book; but, if his short story was any indication, it's going to be quite interesting. He reminds me of Neil Gaiman, who wrote many popular sci-fi/fantasy books, like Coraline (still gives me the creeps) and Stardust.👍 Bradbury does have a number of great classics, and I do urge you to check out his short stories too. 🤓💕

There is something about the #noisecash community that encourages me to look at the brighter side of life. It makes me appreciate even more the beauty in small things that most people would think insignificant, like a dewdrop or a velvety petal or even a fallen leaf. In most popular social media sites, so many people are angry and hateful. They swear and get mad at individuals whom they don't even know personally. They take sides as though they themselves have gone through highlighted issues; issues that don't even concern them. There is so much negativity, even passive-aggressive negativity, which I could actually feel through my phone and in my heart. It is depressing. This is why I've become inactive in those sites. I am more active here @noisecash because it promotes positivity. I mean, where else can you see posts with appreciation and thoughtfulness, like, "I saw this flower while on a walk. Isn't it pretty?" and other similar stuff. So it inspires me to see and observe the beauty around me. Truly, happiness and contentment are within reach if we but care to look and grab them with our hearts. ***I took this photo in Japan (Tokyo Disneyland). The landscape there is lovely, especially during spring when flowers begin to bloom. 💕🌼

Sunflowers galore❣️❣️❣️ how absolutely perfect are these shots? These were taken by my husband while cycling around Kanagawa yesterday. He sent me these lovely photos and said, "For your #noise," which I appreciate a lot 😁💕 These photos were taken using an iPhone and he also did some minor editing. But they are really good shots - very clear. I am an android user (have always been), but one thing that I like about iPhones is that they do take great photos. Also, to avoid photo-grabbing, I've decided to start putting watermarks on the photos that I post here. It's one way for us to protect ourselves and our posts from being stolen. It's such a wonderful surprise when your sibling drops by with fresh produce. He said that one of his co-workers just harvested their corn and was selling these. He bought them for us, especially my daughter coz she loves corn. I just boiled these for about ten minutes. They were soft and sweet. I was told that fresh corn is much more flavorful and sweeter, and indeed they were. We added salt and slathered butter on them. My daughter also likes a sprinkling of cheese powder on her corn. Small acts like these are what makes my heart full. For me, when a person gives me something, it's not the cost that matters. What's more important is the thought behind it. It makes me feel valued and remembered. 💕 #FoodAndNutrition

My father and I do not have a good relationship because he left my Ma for another woman when I was only five. Then, he proceeded to forget the three of us, my brothers and I, so Mama brought us up by herself. There have been a few times in the past few years when I told myself to give him a second, third, and couple more chances to be the father he never was; moreso after Mama died of cancer. But all of those attempts at reconciliations ended up unfavorably. One instance stayed with me. It had only been a few months since Mama died when I decided to agree to stay with him and his partner. I thought everything was set. But a block from their house, he stopped the car and asked me to "pretend to be my niece because my adopted daughter doesn't know about you." How could I set foot in their house after that? I didn't, and he told the story to his relatives that I didn't want to stay with him. I even got an earful from my aunt. But I explained to her what happened and she got mad at him. Not me. It's been the same the past few years. He tells us that he wants to reconcile, but then he fails to follow through. He says one thing and does another. Recently, he messaged us three a letter of "apology" which only contained one line of something that sounded remotely as an apology, "I was not a good father." The rest of it talked about how hard hearted I was, how my uncles were the cause of their breakup, and more. I got mad when he talked negatively about my mother. It was then that I decided to cut him off. I prayed and told God that I do forgive him even though he has not asked for forgiveness. I owe it to myself and to my family to get rid of this grudge in my heart and move forward without the past weighing me down. It is all in God's hands now. 🙏 ***The moon was out the other night. This was taken just minutes before another downpour. 🌙

I actually thought I was growing a sunflower 🌻 but this fiery red-orange bloom was what appeared❣️ it's not what I expected but still a nice surprise. I get confused because I often plant seeds in the usual place. They get all mixed up there. The seeds of this plant was given by a neighbor. Actually, I kinda asked for some and she did give me a couple of dead flower heads. 😁 It's such a striking color. This is the first bloom and I'm seeing a lot of buds. My orange amaryllis is blooming again. This is also known as hippeastrum. Each bulb only blooms once a year, but there are things you can do to encourage it to bloom again, like cutting the flower stalk before it wilts or giving it fertilizer. For me, i just leave them alone to bloom at their own time. This variety only has 3 flowers in its stalk, while some varieties can have more than that. I'm afraid that the blooms won't last long as we've been having rain for the past few days. Every day is gloomy, and it kinda makes me sad. This actually reminds me of SAD or seasonal affective disorder. It is when the weather/climate affects our mood or emotions. People who live in places where the sun doesn't shine as much, where it's rainy, snowy, or foggy for prolonged periods of time, do get emotionally affected. Most feel depressed and less lively. That's why we need the sun to shine on us. Not only does it encourage vitamin D production, but it also helps in giving us a more positive outlook. I want to see you, Mr. Sun 🌞

Duck in beer 😁 my husband thought it was funny. He sent me these pictures and told me, "Look, a duck!" Indeed, there was a duck in his beer! 😂 The beer bubbles have formed into the head of a duck. It kinda looks like a portrait in beer bubbles hahaha ... Even when the beer was already halfway gone, the duck remained 🦆 Because this duck was so determined to be seen, I'm posting him here. I love sweets, and it's a problem because I'm trying to lead a healthier lifestyle. But there are just some days when you crave for sweets --- and one thing that I crave for are these cupcakes! 🎂🍰 As someone with a sweet tooth, I've tried cupcakes and cakes from different bakeries. But i often go back to one or two bakeries that are just my absolute faves! These mini cupcakes are from a local shop called Sweet Sensations. There are so many things to love about these sweet goodies. For one, they are not very sweet, especially the frosting. It may look like just a small dollop of icing, but it's enough because it's so creamy and delicious. Also, there are different not-so-common flavors tp choose from. I chose red velvet and Oreo flavors, and we've had the cookies-and-cream before too and other yummy flavors. I wish you could try these with me. They are wonderful with any hot beverage, but I especially love them with tea 🍵 or coffee ☕ #Cupcakes

Pandesal reinvented! I approve 👍❣️ I grew up eating pandesal. When I was young, my Mama and I would go to this small corner store and buy pandesal that were fresh out of the oven. Pandesal are small bread rolls that are warm and filling. Nowadays, there are many varieties when it comes to flavor and taste, like ube, moringa, and cheese. I seldom get to buy warm pandesal these days, but I was lucky enough to have found this snack page on FB. I ordered a dozen and the bread arrived still warm. The shape was more elongated than the usual, and it was lightly sprinkled with sweet powdered milk (my favorite!) When I bit into it, it was so fluffy, like a cloud. ☁️ Inside was a very generous filling of gooey cheese. 🧀 You get a lot of cheese in every bite, and I loved it! I'll definitely order this again. 👍🍞🥖 #Snacks

This path leads towards the land that my mother left for me and my brothers. It looks so mysterious even during daytime. I love how cool and crisp the air was under the shade even though the sun was out that day. What I love about this place is that there is a small hilly area where you can see the sea from the top. Our concern right now is that some people have broken the perimeter fence. Although it's all just grass and trees for now, we're still concerned that some people might squat on the land if we don't fix the fence soon. That's another added financial burden, but what can we do? 🤷 #AmazingTrees

I love to see leaves unfurl. To me, it signifies hope, rebirth, a new start. The leaves look delicate yet strong. They are pushing through and taking on the world. 💕 These leaves are from my syngonium and caladium plants. Although these plants do not produce beautiful flowers, they do have exceptional leaves. Syngoniums are climbing plants. They grow roots on their stems and can be propagated easily through cuttings. Caladiums vary so much. There are many common types, as well as hybrid and rare varieties, much like syngoniums too. They can be propagated through bulb division.💮🌼

Pearls... I love them 💕 i made this bracelet using my late mother's leftover collection of loose pearls. But I'm not very satisfied with it. I think it's not that secure. I need better stringing material coz if this gets snagged onto something, the pearls will all scatter. I learned that when you string real pearls, you need to make a knot after each one so that in case the string or clasp breaks, the pearls will not get scattered about. (Unlike in the movies where it showers with pearls when someone rips a pearl necklace off of someone's neck.) Real pearl jewelry are not made like that, I gathered. Funny story about those black pearls... I found them inside an old bag. It's been forgotten because of its broken clasp. I'm trying to bring these back to life, but I need better materials and stringing skills. 😁💕📿 #ArtsAndCrafts

Do you see what I see? ☺️🦋 At first, i thought it was a dead leaf. But then, it fluttered its wings and went on another leaf. What a pretty butterfly ❣️💛 I love the sunny yellow color of this butterfly's wings. It reflected my more joyful mood since the past few days had been quite rainy and gloomy. Thankfully, the sun was out the other day, which was when this photo was taken. Animals were truly blessed with characteristics that allow them to stay hidden. Some species do blend well with surroundings to hide from predators, but there are also predators that have chameleon-like talents so as to hunt better. Nature is indeed amazing! Loading up on carbs coz we had a pretty busy morning. Here's our lunch -- chicken teriyaki rice bowl, super spicy pasta puttanesca, and pork barbecue. We paired it with ice cold iced tea. 🍹 We went to our property that my brothers and I inherited from our mother. We checked it out because someone was interested in buying a small part of the property. Good thing the weather cooperated. ☀️ Anyway, we drove out to this place, Artisan Cafe, which was quite a few kilometers from our home. But the food there is good. We're enjoying it now, and the taste is different from the usual fast food. So, let's have a great lunch everyone 🍝🍛🍚 #Food
