The flag of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia consisted of three pan-Slavic colors, from top to bottom: blue, white and red; with a gold-bordered red five-pointed star in the middle. The ratio between the width and length of the flag was 1: 2.
The flag was created during World War II by removing the royal coat of arms from the old Yugoslav tricolor and replacing it with a red five-pointed star, a symbol of communism. After the war, the flag got its final shape when the star was enlarged and a gold border was added to it.
The Yugoslav flag was flown on holidays together with the ZKJ flag and the individual national flag. As a result, it is still common to find flagpoles in three parts of the former Yugoslavia
The flags of the socialist republics in the SFRY were determined by the republics themselves. The flag of an individual socialist republic was hoisted together with the flag of the SFRY on national holidays and other occasions.
Zastave socijalističkih republika u SFRJ odredile su same republike.
