Worst experienced "Dengue" 4cases of my family (part1)
My husband experienced dengue and 3 more of his family members. And dengue Is also a serious case.
Dengue fever is a mosquito borne illness that occurs in tropical and subtropical areas all over the world. Mild dengue can cause a high fever and flu like syntoms after being bite from a mosquito. The severe form of dengue also known as hemorrhagic fever can cause serious bleeding such in nose, or sudden low of blood pressure or it may lead to death. Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito.
Dengue syntoms:
High fever that lasts for a couple days more than (40 F)
Severe headaches
Muscle and joint pain
Nausea
Vomiting
Rashes
Most people recover more than a week, because it depends on the body of the patient. But in some cases, if syntoms worsen it can becomes life threatening. These are called severe dengue. It more painful than the other syntoms.
Severe stomach pain
Persistent vomiting
Bleeding from your mouth and nose
Blod in urine or stool
Difficult in rapid breathing
Fatigue and restlessness
WARNING these are life threatening and dengue has no cure for itself. These happens when your blood vessels had been damaged and leaky. And the number of (platelets) or white blood cells drop immediately. These can lead organ failure or even death.
There are no cure or specific treatment for dengue. And we experienced this kind of tragic not once but four times to be exact.
The first case we had, my father in law it was really devastating, we thought he'd be leaving so early. His fever goes up and down and they didnt noticed it at all. He still continue and ignored the pain but one day they decided to go on check ups. He still the one driving on the way to the hospital then after they got through my father in law collapsed and lost its consciousness. Then he was treated immediately they done laboratory examination and the results are severe dengue he must confine and stay to the hospital. But days past he didnt got better instead he has worsen the medical team decided to transfer him in manila and advised to do a blood transmission. My cousin that time offered them that he'll take them to hospital. They didnt manage to borrow the ambulance of their previous hospital because it may cause them a lot.
Here in our country they do a blood transfusion. And its done for severe patients who's cases are significantly below normal a blood transfusion may be required to replace blood loss and the patients blood pressure be monitored. My fathers in law blood type is very rare AB and the doctors said he needs about 6 to 8 bags to survive. That was really shocking for a poor person like them life is so very painful that time. But they did anything and everything to get whats he needed. I cant do anything for them except that I lend them my cellphone so they can use it to contact their other relatives.
Luckily after asking help in their other relatives they got to buy the bloods needed. I remember they didnt reach the exact amount needed but after 4 bags of blood transfusion my father in law got better and they decided to wait for the results if its going to be good. They insist to feed him so he gain strength. After weeks they got home safely Thank you almighty God. But there are times that my father is not feeling well.
Studies show that having blood transmission in dengue cases are myths. Infact unnecessary transfusion can causes more harm and puts the patient life at risk of complications. I think this is one of the reason why my father is law is not feeling well. But its truly okay to feel that way rather than cold dead.
Second case
My brother in law but luckily he didnt need to have a blood transmission. But he needed to go the hospital and he was treated with lots of medication. The worse is we been in a big flood that time. He was really weak that time but he really lot of guts and he doesn't want to be in the situation where his father had. And it think we prevent it a lot earlier so it dosent got worst.
Prevention and control
If you know you experienced dengue, avoid getting further mosquito bites. Preventing mosquitos from egg laying habitats by covering, emptying and cleaning of water storage containers every 2 weeks time. Applying appropriate insecticide to our indoors that are not harmful to health. Personal protection by putting repellent, coils and vaporizers. We can also wear pajamas and long sleeves it can minimize skin exposure. Lets also cooperate when having a community engagement where we can have further information of the risk of mosquito borne diseases.
