Musk's Twitter Poll Would be a Challenging Business Decision

Would you run a poll about your performance?

A poll is a process of considering people's mandate. The general elections of most countries are examples of such open and secret polling. The poll results are assumed to be an outcome of the proper functioning of the electoral processes.

Social media polls are a way of judging the users' minds. Whether it would be fair to consider a social media poll result to decide on an important business strategy, is a debatable subject.

I am responsible for the actions I take every day. There could be plenty of errors and discrepancies. I may try to blame it on the situations and many external reasons, but in the end, it is me who should be fully responsible for what I do.

Social media business depends on people's minds.

Social media is driven by its vast user base. If the users like social media, it will bring colossal engagement and fetch advertisements. The same is happening with Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms.

Even if the advertisers continue to support it, the fate of a social media business depends on the engagement of its massive number of users.

The social media platform may hold the superpower to control the notification and other algorithmic business processes; the ultimate power rests on social media users.

Will Elon Musk abide by the results of the poll?

I saw a poll on Twitter by the owner. It asks whether people want Elon Musk to continue as the head of the Twitter business.

I find it very tricky to utilize the opinion of Twitter users to decide whether Musk would continue as the chief of Twitter or delegate it to a staff member.

Concluding thoughts

  • Social media is a business with online users.

  • Many user accounts are bots and fake.

  • Taking a business decision from a Twitter poll may not produce positive results.

It is my personal opinion that making a business decision based on an online poll comprising of plenty of bot and fake accounts may not be the best decision!

I'm really thinking if Musk will abide the decision based on the poll but considering his behavior and attitude, he might be.

Do you love the idea of Musk buying Twitter?

Maybe, he shouldn't have purchased an old social media company. He could have started a new company instead. People would love the latest social media platform knowing that Musk created it!

At the end of the day Elon Musk is a businessman, plain and simple. He made an investment when he bought Twitter, and of course he has a vision for what he thinks the site can be. Not everyone will agree with him. Especially in this very politically charged space.

I think what he wants to do with the site is a good idea. I also think it is needed. I disagree with many of the ideas presented by SOME on Twitter that he is trying to destroy the site, and I say that because for too long the site has censored conservative speech and banned conservative voices on it.

Not a good thing.

And OF COURSE the ones not silenced or banned suddenly have their panties all in a bunch. Their exclusive playground has been opened to the public and they don't like it. They have been able to define truth anyway they choose, and now they can't do that anymore.

That IS a good thing.

But again, Musk is a businessman. He has an investment he wants to grow. So, I think he will abide by the poll results and step down if that is what the outcome happens to be. But don't think he won't still be there having a major role in what happens, just like he was when he took over Tesla.

He is a hands-on guy. And he doesn't need to be the CEO in order to steer the ship, although it helps. Because he is the majority owner of the company as well, he is going to have a lot of influence on who takes the reigns in his stead.

So, what he is doing is essentially changing the name and the face of Twitter, but not necessarily the focus and direction and the vision he has for Twitter.

I may not be able to predict what the future holds for Twitter any more than anyone can. But what I can say is that no matter what gets decided, the future of Twitter will still look very different than what it looked like before, and no matter what is decided, the left is not going to like it.

Although the experiments of Elon Musk are intriguing and unpredictable, I must admit that I like his entrepreneurial activities. The risk he took is worth his arguably sincere efforts in engaging with the business.

I appreciate your valuable time and thoughtful comment.

Most of the users would have voted YES because they would have been thinking the NO can let them ban on Twitter. Moreover, final results shows that No is not too far from Yes. Yes it's different but seems like lots of users don't like him as CEO

People are commonly afraid of straightforward people because they can take any decision they deem correct.

That is what I was thinking 😂

You are right, such polls don't look smart at all especially when it's related to something this big and as said Twitter is filled with bots. By the way, I voted yes, haha.

I voted "No" because I wish Musk would take responsibility and make his own decision.
