Gender discrimination is a phenomenon defined as negative behavior or attitude towards other people based on their gender. The most common form of this type is probably a different treatment of male and female employees, at workplace.
The practice is often also defined as reverse discrimination or reverse sexism, which makes it clear that some group has advantage over another group.
The starting point for any form of discrimination is stereotyping. This is something that we all do, no matter how hard we try. People tend to stick with their stereotypes about certain groups of people.
The both genders; males and females are still underrepresented in many workplaces. For example the nursing profession has been stereotyped to only for females and male nurses are being looked down upon as unusual.
There is no doubt that females face the bulk of gender discrimination in the world. The gender discrimination against women is not only in the streets, but it is also really seen in the workplace. The most common thing women experience at work is sexual harassment from majorly men
For women it's often even more difficult: It's hard to access resources and training opportunities, especially if you're a young woman from a developing country.
The last decades have seen a number of women reaching positions of power and leadership in traditionally male-dominated fields. Women have been present not only as scientists, as activists and politicians, but also as entrepreneur.
Despite the welcoming development in terms of more opportunities given to females gender, more needs to be done especially in developing countries where discrimination and abuse is still prevalent in the society.
Gender Equality
Gender equality means that men and women are equal in every way- socially, economically and politically. Gender equality has not been achieved yet, especially the economic part. One of thae biggest problems that many women have to face nowadays is to find an equal job opportunity.
The United Nations views gender equality as being one of the key goals for the development of humanity. Gender equality is important for the future development in any country.
In many countries, women have proven to be just as capable and competent as men, but their opportunities are often blocked by obstacles and stereotypes.
For Gender Equality to be achieved, the world must pursue two fundamental strategies: ensuring women’s rights and opportunities and promoting gender equality perspectives.
An important step in achieving gender equality is to ensure equal opportunities for men and women in all fields and at all levels from grassroots to national
One of the major difference between developed countries and developing countries or economies is that women play more role in the economy, politics and society of developed countries .
One of the keys in opening the door to gender equality is Education. As part of this effort, it is important that girls and women receive a higher standard of education as equal to their opposite gender; boys and men. Early childhood education should also be encouraged as it is also important in the fight for gender equality.
Another issue to touch in the aspect of gender equality is the fact that despite, the increasing number of women in work force their wages or salaries are lower than those of men. Thus making it very difficult for women to survive only on their own and take care of themselves.
In conclusion
The problem lies in how we were raised to see that women can be inferior, that they are not good enough and not capable of anything or being anything.
We must erase this mindset, and do more to protect girls and women in our society and to provide them with as much as equal chances in every aspect of life.

Regardless of how much people protest, gender privileges will always exist, and there is nothing that can be done about it because we are not all the same.
Women, like men, enjoy privileges that men do not. A common misconception out there is the fact that people merge gender privileges and equality together and call it gender equality.
