Bless day everyone! Another Sunday on this month of September and another opportunity to celebrate the holy mass. Receiving the holy gospel and the holy Eucharist. I do hope and pray that you were blessed by the Lord by his undying love and mercy.

Today is just like another day full of blessings and graces from the Almighty Father. May we not forget to give back the glory for all his goodness to us. And today is that day, his day. In the whole weekd God is asking us to spend only a day to him and mostly it would only last for an hour. So, I hope and pray as well that we will give this time to rest with his loving arms and surrender ourselves to him. May the holy gospel, as we read it today, empower, strengthen and reset our energy for the next week to come. Be with me today in this gospel as I share to you his words and some reflection to ponder.

Holy Gospel

Mark 9:30-37

After leaving that place they made their way through Galilee; and he did not want anyone to know, because he was instructing his disciples; he was telling them, 'The Son of man will be delivered into the power of men; they will put him to death; and three days after he has been put to death he will rise again.' But they did not understand what he said and were afraid to ask him. They came to Capernaum, and when he got into the house he asked them, 'What were you arguing about on the road?' They said nothing, because on the road they had been arguing which of them was the greatest. So he sat down, called the Twelve to him and said, 'If anyone wants to be first, he must make himself last of all and servant of all.' He then took a little child whom he set among them and embraced, and he said to them, 'Anyone who welcomes a little child such as this in my name, welcomes me; and anyone who welcomes me, welcomes not me but the one who sent me.'

Reflection

The Lord wanted to remind us in today's gospel of our greed of position and power. Of our greed to have posses all worldly things and be looked up by everyone around us. Our thirst towards being above and first among the others. Why? Why he reminded us of those things? because it couldn't bring us eternal life. It could make us forget that to be with God is to follow how Jesus live in this world. The humbleness and the willingness to serve and become servant is what means to become first in this world and in heaven. It would mean to not think of yourself first but the others. Simply being selfless. Jesus serve the people. He was born poor, humiliated, contempted and even died on the cross for the people. Yes, he is the son of God but he lower himself in order for us to see that the kingdom of the heavenly father is not just for the people who are above but mostly for the people who are below or simply the humble ones.

Then he give us the example of a child. If we welcomes such as this in his name welcomes Jesus and anyone who welcomes Jesus welcomes the one who sent him. Who sent Jesus? It's the Almighty Father. Why he use the example of a child? Because if we see the quality of a child, and be like one we surely could enter the kingdom of God in heaven.

A child is trustful to his guardian. If we are trusful like a child to the greatest guardian which is God, we will never be worried and keep on looking back to the things or busy preparing for the future forgeting to live the present.

A child is easy to forgive. If we are like a child who easily forgive to anyone who wrong them we would not bare grudges, then we never had bad relationship with people who do wrong to us and we will be at peace.

A child is loving. If we are like a child who is very loving towards people around them, then we surely can receive the kingdom of God in heaven. Because we are made out of love and the purpose as well is to love all the things that comes with us.

These and more are qualities of a child thus it is very exact to how Jesus liken our faith and acceptance to him and the one who sent him.

The two main point of this gospel today is to let us know that to become great is to be humble and to serve. And accept Jesus and the one who sent him. This too is very connected to each other because when we fully accept Jesus and the one who sent him in our lives we then knew our purpose. We will know that to follow Jesus is the ways we could enter the kingdom in heaven. To follow means to be humble and to serve and from that we could be the greatest in his kingdom in heaven.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, I hope you ponder few things today. Thank you for being here and may God bless you so much.

Being selfless is hard but people can be selfless in one way or another but in our quest of conquering the world and wanting to achieve the dreams people would really turn to vanity and forget being humble.
