Kids And Gaming Addiction, Not A Good Friendship

I think most of you have noticed that today's kids are more smartphone addicts than us. And what they do in that, play games mostly and that online games involving other people especially battle royale games. As an ex-gamer, I can vouch that playing different genre games heightens your senses and reaction time as well as your creativity. I have been an addict myself and the end result is disastrous. Our current generation is spending more time playing on smartphones than outside and I have played indoor and outdoor and smartphone or PC games. I can say the games played outside your house without any gadgets involved are the best. The fun is on another level in those games that the kids of this generation have never experienced.

This gaming addiction is a very bad virus spreading in kids and It's the parent's responsibility to keep this in check and don't let their kids use smartphones from an early age. Nowadays study is also possible through smartphones but except this doesn't let kids below 13 get addicted to Smartphones. It's the worst thing you can give your children for his/her future. There are 100s of harms in letting kids play online games or use smartphones from an early age.

Like while playing this Moba game, my excitement and frustration level skyrockets to extreme level. So uninstalled it.
  • Playing online games and losing in it or not being able to perform well causes unnecessary stress and depression in kids which I have personally experienced.

  • Kids give up everything to play these types of games. Not giving priority to food, relations, study, and rest. Yes, games are very addictive to play. Once you get too immersed in it. It will take everything from you.

  • In the long term gamers lose their eyesight very early than normal people because most of the time they are on screens. And they get prone to headache and earaches due to continuous use of headphones.

Whose Fault Is This?

Sorry but it's a fact that it's the parent's fault for giving them such a device at an early age. Ignoring their behavior and over-usage. Not keeping eye on what type of games they are playing. As playing violent games at a young age makes them violent and that is the reason you may have heard the news about kids killing their parents for not letting them play their favorite game and shockingly their age is below 16.

Also, male kids are given more privileges to play games. And I have seen parents saying. He is a boy and a kid. If not now when he will play. Like seriously, get that kid outside to play. You are spoiling him. I haven't read any girl gamers killing their parents for games.

Also, don't think that your scolding will make them upset. They are kids and they should know what's wrong and right for them and it's our job to let them know by hook or crook.

How To Know Your Kid Is Addicted

  • You will notice they are spending the majority of their time on PC or phones.

  • Their lifestyle and activity timing will change. They will stay away from family and friends and will avoid any social conversation.

  • When you don't let them play. They get angry or impulsive or argue with you. And some may even do violence. It may look normal to you at first but it's not. Because the love of smartphones is greater than yours at that time. You have to teach them the difference between what's important.

  • They lie and cheat a lot when given some work.

Ways To Distract Kids From Gaming

  • Take them out for a walk or playground. Seeing the outside beauty of the world they will forget about the games, trust me. Give them toys or a small bicycle and they will forget about smartphones. In playgrounds seeing other kids playing they will automatically realize that the company of social and real-life people is better.

  • Use less or no smartphone in front of them. As kids get interested in smartphones seeing us only.

  • Spent time with them. I know young parents are very fun to go with and can make child's smile and occupied with their charm. This will strengthen your relation. And it's a win win situation for both of you, hehe.

Final Thoughts

At this young age gaming has destroyed lives and families. As many cases of kids spending lots of money on online games are there. This is a sign for every parent out there not to let their kids become fond of online gaming. Especially battle royale games like PUBG, and Free Fire. Let them play games involving learning English, mind games solving puzzles. Battle royal games aren't for kids, especially below 15. It creates a different mindset in young minds.

Games are for entertainment which kids won't understand. Even teens aren't able to differentiate between addiction and entertainment. But our Today's focus were kids. We will get them in some other blog.

It is true that children are much addicted to smartphone online games. Anyway this is not going to stop completely but partially we can do it. For that first and foremost the parents are not supposed to use the phone infront of them. Instead keep them engaged with talks of their interest. To a certain extent this might help.

I always feel sad seeing kids just using their phones the whole day without doing some physical activities. They don't usually love socializing, they just want to stick on their phones. I hope parents will understand the impact of gadgets to the children.

It's so unhealthy for little kids to be addicted to these games as it affects their performances in school. Many of these addicted kids don't even want to relate to the real world around them. Another way to prevent addiction is to use the Digita Wellbeing App on our phones or other kids monitoring Apps on our devices.

For child gaming there are two school thoughts. I am in favor of child gaming because I knew child learnt more of 60-70% in their child age. I agreed some games are toxic and not good for playing. They rust our mind so we should avoid and save our kiddos.
