Malware scripts and hacking aren't common but with the digital era rising, new variations to hack people have been invented and smart hackers are exploiting even the good features of the digital world. Advertising is a big industry and digital advertising is the most preferred way of advertising products and services nowadays.

It is a great feature for people to use most of the digital marketing and market their products and services worldwide without reaching out to them physically. And so since this advertising sector has evolved so many hackers have also been using it to hack and scam people a lot. They are using the method of Malvertising.

Malvertising is a cyber attack technique using digital ads and injecting malicious codes into those ads. The codes are hidden so well that at first or even with multiple glances one can't figure out suspicious ads. In this as soon as people click on ads, either the script runs by default or it downloads some files including malware and viruses.

Example Of Malvertising

Almost every internet user has faced pop-up ads, which if you click on them they take you to a page telling you your device is infected with viruses, to remove those viruses download this software. The scenario is so well made that some people click on it. Though nowadays people are aware of this type of hacking through ads still a lot are there who haven't used the internet much and aren't aware of such ways of hacking.

Steps To Be Safe From Malvertising

  • Use browsers with ad-blocking features like Brave, Opera, etc. They will completely shut down any type of advertisements and I know people are fed up seeing even normal advertisements.

  • Keep your device software and security patch updated, in Android devices most companies provide a 2-year security patch update which is enough till the phone is alive and most people change phones in every 2-3 years. Some legends like me can use it even for 5 years or more, lol.

  • Beware of downloading anything be it my music, movie, app, file, etc from pirate sites. And especially about the fake Download buttons which take you to a different website. They take you to the most scam websites.

  • Don't click on advertisements even on E-mails and think 10 times before seeing a flashy and attractive advertisement on the internet.

Final Thoughts

My experience with ads was sick so I use a web browser that supports as blocking. There's no way I see any advertisements while I surf internet, of course some websites don't support that service as they rely on ads for their earnings. I avoid them but if I have no way to consume their content, I switch it off for some time and avoid clicking on shit links no matter how well they look at first.

Be safe in the end, hackers can hack anything but it's not that easy unless we let them. PC users mostly are more vulnerable to Malvertising especially the ones using Windows, I think the open source Linux system are most safe, Can you answer this sir @Unity I haven't used it but sir Unity uses it and he is himself a cyber security expert.

Try factory reset which will delete everything and make your device new like, just make a backup before doing so. I have been using a phone for 3 years, I have no plans of changing it for now. I do factory reset my device in every three months to avoid any malware attack.
