The King's Wish
25th of December 2021.
Once upon a time, there was a king who had two sons. The elder one was quite arrogant and self-centred while the younger one was kind and generous. The king was very happy with his younger son and treated him with love and affection.
Then not quite long the king felt ill and rumour had it that the old King was gravely ill and that his death was impending. While on his sickbed, he makes his last wish on the sick bed and this wish is that his second son must be around while the elder brother is crowned king after his demise.
This rumour increased when it was noticed that the King had in his chamber a cot and a chair in readiness for the second prince. The king, who had been so healthy and fit all these years, suddenly looked pale and weak. He consulted his physicians, who advised him that he had a serious heart ailment and unless he took immediate care of himself, he was likely to die anytime within the next few weeks.
The King at first wished that God will give him another day to live so that he can witness his son's coronation before dying.
It was a bitter winter morning when the king made his last wish on the sickbed. Cold wind tore through the window to enhance the mood of death. The doctors were called and they tried to save his life by applying for medicine in addition to massaging his back and giving him water, but every attempt failed. The doctors left and the king was left there to die miserably.
A minute later, the second son came home to hear the news that his father had become very ill and was dying. He rushed into the room on hearing the news.
The old King wished to make sure that his second son got equal treatment as his elder brother, to the extent of being next to him on the royal dais on the very day of his coronation. The second son was thus sent for from the distant forest where he was studying with some good sages.
Eventually, the King plays a trick upon his elder son who was crowned as the king of his kingdom. The elder son arrives at his palace but finds no one there. He sees the dead body of his father on the throne and is terrified. At that time King Nat arrives and claims his throne back by telling the elder son that he has killed his father and all this was a big trick by King Nat to become the king himself.
The king did not want to die in his tracks and consequently spent most of his days in bed.
The coronation of the new king seems to be the starting point of some high drama since there are no less than three players at play-the Kings' sons and the King's wife. And one of them has a non-negotiable agenda, that should make for some interesting twists and turns as this epic tale unfolds.
At the same time, his elder brother came. The king was dead and his eyes were opened. The people gestured for the children to sit down beside him. They then beckoned for their ears as they told them what to do.
King Nat became a good ruler after his coronation and he makes his country prosperous with the help of his brother as well.
The King's wish was fulfilled and there was peace in the land.
I enjoyed the start of this story buh at the middle I got a little bit confused.... I'd narrate this to my babe till she fall asleep on my shoulder 😂😂
