A phrase that says everything Porsche represents. As a brand. As a company. As a car manufacturer. Our star is a fixture - for over 65 years. It carries within it all the values that characterize our work and our vehicles. Quite understandable, as it was designed by none other than the creator of the first sports car called Porsche: Ferdinand Anton Ernst Porsche - called Ferry.
At first I looked around, but I couldn’t find the vehicle I was dreaming of: a small, lightweight sports car with energy efficiency. So I decided to make it myself.
- Ferry Porsche.... His dream of the perfect sports car drives us on - still. Day by day we are closer to them. With every idea. With every innovation. With each model. In doing so, we follow a plan, an ideal that unites us. Our principle is: achieve maximum achievements at every opportunity. From the 1st second onwards, it is an intelligent way to turn performance into speed and consequently success. We are no longer talking about horsepower, but about more ideas per unit. It comes off the racetrack and is built into all of our vehicles. We call it “intelligent performance”.
16-year-old Chloe Chambers set the (Guinness) world record for the fastest car slalom - in a Porsche 718 Spyder.
On August 21, Chloe Chambers completed the 50m long slalom in just 47.45 seconds. The vehicle was a Porsche 718 Spyder, which was, of course, properly prepared for such an achievement. Behind the wheel, however, sat currently one of the best car drivers in the world. The 16-year-old Chloe has been racing for seven years and currently competes in a number of karting series. In 2019, she took first place in the GearUp F-Series, and in 2018, she took the crown in the OVRP club championship. Clearly, it makes sense for road and driving.
The car slalom consists of 51 cones evenly spaced at 50-meter intervals, and although the Porsche 718 Spyder is a small car, it is still not as small and agile as a go-kart. Young Chambers therefore had to hurry to adapt to her new “machine,” but she was clearly more than up to the task. Following the world record, Chambers said: "I found the grip I needed and it all came together perfectly."
“It looks easy, but in reality it is not - to run the slalom between 51 cones as fast as possible, try to beat the record time and know that I must not touch any of them, that in the end the achievement is of course considered. I definitely felt a lot of pressure, ”added the young new record holder.
Time will tell how long this record will last. Maybe Porsche will be able to put it back or. improve in the new GT3 when it finally gets on the road.
What do you think about fast cars? Do you love them?
