My First Job Interview Experience
In the past 2 days, I am not feeling okay and felt so nervous as one of the company that I tried to applied last week informed me to stay my lines open for this week for they will contact me anytime and any day for my interview through phone only.
As I've mentioned from my article few days ago, I said there that I have started applying for a job which is being call center agent. Ever since, I'm not really into speaking or communicating verbally to others as most of the time I prefer not to open my mouth and just mind my own business than to socialize. But things changed as I grew older. I am now in my early 20's and I just decided to take a different path in my life. This time, I want to make something different, so I decided to apply for a job that I am so afraid before.
Last April 4, the referrer I contacted with messaged me again to fill up the link she sent to me, so I did. The same day at exactly 6:00 p.m, someone called me already. I wasn't prepared as I didn't expect that they will call just after a few hours after I registered myself to their website. At first, I wasn't not able to answer it because I was outside. The moment I saw that 1 missed call from my notification bar, I rushed to go upstairs and texted the number and apologized for missing the call. Just after 2 minutes, they called me again and I was so nervous! My heart is beating so fast.
I apologize and said sorry to the interviewer and he said it's okay and then he proceeds in asking about my informations. During my initial interview, he asked me about these things:
My education
Where do I live
Work experiences
Do I have plans to go back to school
If I am already vaccinated and what vaccine it is
If I am willing to work onsite
Then after asking those questions, he explained to me the account that I might handle once I get hired. It is an International Account. I was shookt the moment I heard him say that and because of my nervousness I just answered him "Yes 😬" (exact face) after he asked me if I will still continue my application to them Lol. I was actually expecting for a local account only because I still don't have any BPO experience so I feel so pressured and scared, knowing that I am not fluent in english.
The agent who interviewed me for my initial sent me a link after our call. It is an assesment test which will test my grammar, pronounciation, typing skills and how I can handle common problems in this kind of work. The assesment was meant to last for 45 minutes only but it took me 1 and a half hour.
That's what happened to my initial interview, so let's talk about my final interview that was just happened yesterday.
The next day April 5 at 2 am in the morning, they sent me an email informing me to get ready for my final interview within this week. I got nervous again. From morning to evening, my heart is beating so fast haha but they didn't call me that day.
April 6, I was sitting in our sala, relaxed while writing my article yesterday 'Stop It!' when suddenly my phone rang. I rushed to climb up again to our second floor and said "Hello?" while chasing my breath because I ran so fast plus I feel so nervous. This time, the one who interviewed me is a woman with an excellent communication skills.
My final interview lasts for 17 minutes.
17 minutes of awkwardness and trying so hard to speak in english with wrong grammars while stuttering Lol.
She asked me a lot of questions, I think it's 15-20 questions. These are some of the questions she asked me that I still remember.
Why I want this job
My strengths and weaknesses
My location
My mode of transportation and how long it will take me to arrive to their site
How I handle stress
What would be my reason to leave the company
Why I chose their company
What is my ideal workplace
What would I do to people who has a wonderful personality
My proudest moment in life
Informations about my education and more.
I shared the questions they asked me during my final interview to help those who wants to apply for a job in this industry as well, so they can have an idea about the possible questions that the interviewer might ask them. However, it always depends on the company and on the interviewer pa rin. The company who gave me a chance to be interviewed is Alorica. As of now, I am just waiting for the result, if they will be forwarding my application or not. But I am prepared for the possible rejection as I really admit it that I got so nervous that caused me to stutter. At least I have my first ever job interview experience and I know what I need to improve to myself.
