We all are used to happy ends of fairy tales, even if most of them are not the good example, I was already writing about bad sides of princesses from fairy tales.
As you can read in that post, I have written that in modern vesrions of fairy tales, at the end, everything is okay. No matter how big mistakes they are making, at the end, everything is okay. And, in real life, that is not happening, in real life, you have to pay for what you have done. And, in my opinion, that is, well, usual. Someone would say normal.
Today, I will present you the original versions of some of the most popular fairy tales. In those stories, you can see many violence (all kinds of violence), regrets, suffering...
Let's start!
Snow White
We all have heard the story about a girl who is 'white as snow, red as blood and black as ebony'. Her sad story with happy ending was the main idea for many books, for many movies and many cartoons.
In the original version we can see the evil step mother, we can see pretty girl, hunter, who cannot kill Snow White, gnomes... But, they are doing some thing differently. She get the apple from evil step mother, who is transformed into a withc, but she is not awaken by the kiss of prince.
Prince comes to see her, he kisses her, but nothing happens, he decides to take her to his castle, where he will keep her as a exhibit. But, while his servants will almost drop her while they were putting her coffin on a horse. While that is happening, the piece of toxic apple gets out of her throat, and she wakes up.
They get married, and they will live happily for the rest of their lives, but, what about step mother?
In this version she is forced to put on a pair of iron shoes, that are red-hot, and she is forced to dance in those shoes till she dies.
Bizzare? Cruel? Evil?
I'll let you decide yourself.
Cinderella
In the version that we all know, Cinderella's father is not at home, because he is working. He has to travel very often in order to make money for his family.
In some older versions, he is dead, and, in some hardcore versions, he is alive, he is at home, and he is a part of group who is harassing Cinderella.
There is also a version, where she is her own fairy Godmother, because she is a powerful white witch, the only what is not clear here is why she let's her stepmother doing all those horrible things to her.
In this version there is also a ball, and prince is looking for her after the ball, but her step-sisters are going one step forward,a nd they are not just hiding Cinderella, they are also cutting parts of their feet, in order to get the shoe on.
Of course, price finds Cinderella, they got married, and step-sisters are trying to destroy the wedding, but Cinderella's birds, eat their eyes.
Again, bizzare, cruel, evil....
In Serbian version of this fairy tale, Cinderella is getting help from her mother. Evil step-mother turned her mother into a cow, and she slayed her, and they have eaten her, but Cinderella burried her bones, and that place became magical.
Little Mermaid
We all have seent he cartoon with a silly Mermaid who falls in love with a prince from the land, she gives her voice to an evil witch, who gives her a pair of legs. Later, her prince and her together beat the withc and she has her voice again.
In the original version, she did not gave her voice, het toungue was cut off. She got her legs, but every single step is very painful for her. Prince is close to her, but he is not in love with her, he marries another woman, and she is left alone and sad.
She gets a choice, she can kill her prince after he got married, and she will get back her toungue and her tail, so she can live in the sea again, or she can jump into the sea, and lose her own life.
She decides to die, instead of her prince. She dies, but she cannot go back to the sea, first she has to be on the land for 300 years as a good ghost.
Sad, but very instructive.
The Frog Prince
In this fairy tale, we can see young pretty princess, who first becomes a friend with a frog, and latter she kisses him, and he becomes a prince again. I say again, because he was a prince before a spell was put on him.
In the original version she throws him inot a well, in order to take a spell of him.
There is also one more version, where she has to cut frog's head of in order to take a spell of.
Again bizzare.
A Sword in a Stone
This fairz tale is happening in the middle century. Good king Arthur really gets the sword out of the stone, but his wife is cheating on him, with his best friend. He dies in one battle, and when you think a bit more about it, in middle century it was normal to die in a battle.
But, cheating with best friend? Well, that is happening in all centuries.
That was it for this article, I will se you very soon in next aricle!
